hey i transfered my _serato_ and serato backup folder and music files on my new laptop but when i open serato the crates doesn’t show up. how do get them to show up on serato.
You HAVE to make sure there is only ONE _Serato folder and no other, otherwise it will ALWAYS read the newest one, so do some digging and make sure there are no others somewhere out there on your drive.
Also, I just learned that you can click the "lock" button next to a track so that the grid or other parts of the song are not changed when it's analyzed again. You mentioned in your video that you didn't know of a solution. Maybe that helps
Glad it helped, and I was just confused as to how they get locked in the first place, still can’t figure that out but yeah unlocking it is easy. The wonders of DJing lol.
I got a macbook pro but every time I connect the external driver after open my Serato dj pro the fonts on the external driver are really small, how do I make the fonts bigger ? Do I need to copy all the music and bring them internal in order to make the fonts bigger? I do want to know to make the font bigger while my external driver is connected and my Serato is open, any advice would totally appreciated!!!
Sorry for the late response, but this may seem to be a UI issue within Serato and possibly not related to your external HD. Does your current laptop by any chance have an Retina display? If so have you looked into your settings within the Serato program and make sure to check if Hi-Res Display is checked or unchecked..depending on your liking of the look this may help to increase text size..or another option would be to check what your Library Text Size is set to, you can either increases or decrease your font size, this all can be found within Settings (the gear icon) in Serato under Library + Display. Hope this helps.
Great video and this what I need to transfer my Serato music. so I recently purchased another MacBook with Touch Bar but I build my crates in Serato so when I do the steps that you showed when connecting both Macs together will the crates that built I inside of Serato DJ transfer over as well or will I have to start all over again?
Sorry for the late response, don't know if you already figured this out but to answer your question...depending on the last backup Serato DJ does when exiting the program, that's what will show up (however the crates are setup) to the newly transferred computer. Meaning if it did not do a current backup, it is not guaranteed that the new crates or playlists made will show up on the new computer. Always good practice to let too long pass to either backup or make a copy of your _Serato_ and _Serato_Copy folder. Hope that helps.
I am still having trouble doing this. Here is my problem. I have _Serato_ and _Serato_Backup in an external drive, which I have connected to a new MacBook Pro device. I have relocated lost files and even tried dragging the music folder from the external drive into the relocate lost files. However, this did not find the music files. I tried dragging each individual folders. That worked for some. But then every crate seems to just show up in the recycle bin. In addition, after you have disconnected the external and turned off your computer. This seems to wipe out what was been recovered and you have to start over again. I'm really confused. I have way too many crates to start over again. Help
@@FINs_TAVERN I did, but not perfect. I had to use another external drive that is not partitioned. I think that was the problem w/ my first attempt. It was able to read all my songs, but did not ID tag properly, nor mark its BPM. At least the songs are all playable. I'm just now ID tagging properly.
Thanks for the video. I have a bit of a different problem. I transferred my music directly from a Mac to a PC. The music transferred over but none of my crates did. How can I have my crates show up on my new computer? Thanks.
Haven't really tried Mac to PC, but one guess would be..to make sure that there isn't already a Serato folder created somewhere else within the PC, have you done a run down to see if there isn't already one created that might be messing up and tricking Serato to go off of that empty folder?
Sorry to hear that. And yes it should be but always do a bit of digging for more info to make sure the steps you are taking are the needed ones. Never hurts to do a but more searching for useful information.
Dope video. I was wondering about the songs that serato doesnt detect the bpm on. If i entered the bpm in myself, will that info go on to the next laptop? Or will i have to re enter every bpm again?
In my experience, it has never remembered it. Don't know if it's due to the actual file or something just glitched or wrong with my Serato crate backup folder. Then again, I only have a small handful of songs to go back in and type in the bpm. I'm sure someone has found a solution, I just have never prioritized finding a fix. Sorry man.
Hello! I have all my music on my MacBook and i used iTunes to organize the music, then i went into Serato and made crates and dragged the music from iTunes into the Serato crates...what I want to do now is use my external drive (Samsung t5) only to Dj to free up space on my MacBook but I’m scared to loose all my music or the crates I have already created and organized. How can I do this??
Unfortunately I am not all too familiar with using iTunes to organize Serato's playlist. I can maybe look into it and see if I can make a video off of it. So till then I can't be much help, but maybe look into Serato's forums, they may have the answer to your question if you're in need of a quick fix.
Hey man, quick question, which of the current macbook pros would you most recommend for use with serato dj pro? Looking for something powerful yet not overkill...
While I am 2 MONTHS LATE on the answer (haha, much apologies). like dbrightside suggested, really any MacBook will do. Get the biggest sized SSD capacity you may need for now and later. 16GB would be perfect but 8 is enough if not using MacBook for other than basic DJing. Bit ideally - Quad-Core Processor, 16GB RAM and 512 or 1TB SSD. Overkill but a long-term investment made once. Hope that helps.
hello man, only one laptop and i am trying to recover all my crates and subcrates from the serato dj pro . what if i have . I do not see my crates no mores.. thank you
This fully depends on two things, how big your library is and what drive you are using. 1, you can maybe condense your library a bit more to help, but this would mean obviously deleting a lot of music/videos. 2, look into a faster drive like an SSD based one or if you have the budget an SSD RAID drive like the ones Glyph makes. Either way it definitely a struggle to wait haha.
Thanks for the video, FYI apple has changed the whole hitting the 't' button thing, but very helpful to move large amounts of files.
Great video. I am trying to understand what you were saying about the caution section. Can you explain? Thank you

Wow, this is the highest quality DJ tutorial video that I have EVER seen! Seriously, super impressed! This helped a lot, thank you.

Having the same issue. Transferred those two files on the Mac from an external hard drive. Did you find a fix?

Either works, but for best results I’d say before.

Any MacBook pro with a ssd and 16gb will be fine

Why does relocating lost files take forever?
