Enjoyed Needles, then to where the road was closed in the desolate Mojave, Roys Cafe, and the guardian lion statues! Interesting to see that 'land is available,' in the middle of nowhere! Looking for Calif part 2!! Thanks for the fun drive!
It could be argued that the '55 Chevy was the first modern car; almost 70 years old and still contemporary. Yours is the perfect blend of resto' and driver and believe me, I would "drive a '55" if i could find something decent at a decent price. Great series.
Thank you so much @genehart261 !! You just made my day!! If you like what you saw would you do me a favor? Gimme a like & subscribe to my UA-cam channel if you haven't already. I'd appreciate it.
Just East of the Road Runner Retreat-Restaurant, where you made your U turn, there is a dirt road bypass around that washed out bridge! Look at 9:07 in the Video and you can see that dirt road bridge bypass that makes a right turn from the paved road There are still people living in the next Route 66 Village East of there, and they use those bypasses to get to their homes! I have taken my 1955 Chevrolet on that dirt road and driven around several more of the washed out Bridges to be able to drive to the end of old US 66 where it joins in to the Freeway.
Thanks @parterojerry I know about the bypasses but first I didn’t want to get stuck or damage my transmission pan and second I heard that the police were issuing tickets if you went through and weren’t a resident. I’ll definitely check it out the next time I’m there. What’d you think of the video??
Thanks for the trip down ol 66, Jeff. Was 2008 when I last travelled that section of road , straight through, no washaways. Stopped for coffee at the the Baghdad cafe, bought a souvenir cap, chatted to the locals, and soaked in the desert ambience ! We were travelling West to East, so we called on Roy's before the Roadrunner. The pavement wasn't much better then, but the gas price was !! Living in Australia, we are used to long straight roads across deserts, but we don't have as many frequent service stops. We can drive for hours, hundreds of miles between fuel stops. Thanks for posting and taking the trouble to " backtrack" and fill in the gaps made by the washaways. Great seeing the road through YOUR windscreen !
Wow!! Thank you so much for the kind words @allansunderland6944 !! I really appreciate it. I had never been to the Roadrunner Retreat before - I think it's pretty damn cool. One time I went to Roy's and gas was over $8 a gallon - ouch!! Thanks again for coming along for the ride with me in The 55!!
Thanks for the great vlogs.. im gonna do 66 hopefully late April and your vlogs hav given me plenty of places to look out for... i love your enthusiasm for the mother road.... im gonna vlog it on my you tube channel... unfortunately it will be in a boring hire car and not like your beautiful vehicle ! Thanks for all the information and great footage... cheers 👍🇬🇧😊
You're welcome @simonsouth6184 !! Thank YOU for coming along for the ride with me and thank you for the kind words!! I hope you enjoy your Route 66 road-trip adventure. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Just truly awesome. I've always wanted to go see it in person. Your video is the next best thing. I hope you can visit my neck of the woods. The central valley has a lot of character. Time travel back to the 50s.
Love the dash on your wagon. I also love watching your journey down Route 66. My dad has the same steering wheel on his '57 that you have, but his is brown with the metallic.
Thanks so much from coming along for the ride with me @2000TA The dash is Dakota Digital and the dash pad is from TMI. I dig it too!! Gotta love the purple sparkly steering wheel right?!? Thanks again!!
Wow! Thanks for stopping off at Ed's Camp, So cool! I remember seeing that last time my buddy & I cruised that road on our Grand Canyon vacation-trip! (yeah, I know. different video, but you know what I mean...the Oatman Highway!)
You're welcome @sibman77 !! I really want to stop and explore Ed's Camp but there's really no where to pull safely off the road. Thank YOU for coming along for the ride with me!!
You got me @VanishingPoint !!! I got the Needles underpass and I got the drive into Kingman too but I'm saving them for another video so stay tuned. Thanks for coming along for the ride with me in The 55!!
Much enjoyed, Jeff...I remember a story about the Am boy crater. Local kids set fire to rubbish they had hauled to and inside it. This caused concern for the fire dept. I love looking out over your hood. Doing so brings back deep memories of riding in my Dad's '55 over that very same 'airplane' hood-ornament back during a trip to California back in '59... 'a GREAT' feeling! We were on our way to Disneyland.
Thank YOU @justpassinthruonR66 !! I love looking out over the "Hood-Bird" too - I'm glad it brought back some good memories for you. Thanks again for coming along for the ride with me in The 55!!
Thats a nice car. Looks like it gets driven a lot. I like cars that people aren't afraid to drive. And it looks like its still a 55 chevy and not a 55 Chevy body bolted to a Bugatti Veyron chassis that just rolled out of a custom shop.
why did you paint that car doodoo brown? padded dash, purple metal flake wheel, brother rims , limo tinted windows , bs ls engine and to top it all off doodoo brown. does sound good though.

Thanks for coming along for the ride with me again Pop @papatangoable
The architecture from the past had so much character! Thanks Jeff
I love the old Googie style architecture too @johnserou6466
It's so space age!!

It's Autumn Bronze Metallic @johnbecker5213 and I'm glad you like it.
Love the color of your car!
Thanks so much@@suewieczorek7413
It's Autumn Bronze Metallic. I've never seen another one like it.
With 66 virtually abandoned, who needs Mrs. Orcutts driveway for top speed runs......
Route 66 and Mrs. Orcutts driveway have nothing to do with each other @milojanis4901
You don’t think it’s interesting??
My mom uses 20 mule team borax
It's amazing to me that stuff is still around @garygentzel7924
. Good job,... Great video, @JeffThisted
Thanks so much @KenTurmel
I really appreciate it!!
