    This is a kick ass song from the Scorpions and when I was in high school and went to see them in KC MO I wondered why they never played this because of pressure from outside interests saying "It makes fun of a certain class of people " but if they listened to the words it's a song about seeing someone from s distance and guessing whether it was a man or a woman but as they came closer that wasn't the case"

    • @kyogofurahashi
      @kyogofurahashi 4 роки тому

      the problem with the band is they are victims of their own success, too many hits and great songs overshadowing each other, and unfortunately only 15-16 songs only get played on stage!

    Scorpions 🦂 are as influential in the German 🇩🇪 Hard Rock and Heavy Metal scene as Black Sabbath or Judas Priest were in Britain 🇬🇧. Scorpions 🦂 paved the way for other bands, all of whom cite the scorpions 🦂 as major influences. I’m a huge fan of German 🇩🇪 Metal and for me the Scorpions 🦂 are only of the best metal bands of all time.

      The origin story of this song is funny. Drummer Herman Rarebell has said in an interview that they got their inspiration from an interaction with transexual prostitutes in Paris. He had just joined the band, and they were finishing off the "Virgin Killer" tour of Europe. He said they were taking a ride through Paris and went through the red light district, saw some streetwalking girls and pulled over to say hello to them, to which one of them replied "we're not girls, we're boys". It was his first composition for Scorpions.
      Back then the understanding on gender and trans identity was different, even trans people made references to their old gender expression all the time. I remember on TV there were broadcasts of parties where there were many trans women, and many of them referenced what we now call "dead name" when introducing themselves, something like "My name is (dead name) , but at night I am (new name)". I think things are more respectful now, but yeah, we lost some of the edge and fun of things, I can agree with that.
