- The MCU Hulk has not exactly been received the best by audiences. With the Hulk film distribution rights resting with Universal Studios, it seems that Disney and Marvel Studios have been largely uninterested in a solo Hulk movie. Mark Ruffalo recently revealed new comments from Kevin Feige that seem to suggest that there still are no plans for more Hulk films. I'm also a bit confused about why there were so many rumors around World War Hulk and the idea that they were heading in that direction. #mcu #hulk #comicbooks

Will Hugh be back long enough to do something like that though? He's getting older (he's already 55) and he is for sure back for DP and Wolverine, but we don't know what else. Rumors are he will be in Secret Wars, but nobody really knows.

Very sad. I would be in the front row of a Hulk movie. I would buy out the whole theater even. If the popcorn bucket was 2 Hulk fists with a hole in it, I'd be getting extra butter.

Yeah I feel like at this point the best chances are a soft reboot where some characters stay and some older ones get reverted to more comic accurate restarts of their character.
Hulk has always been in my mount rushmore for marvel heroes , us hulk fans just can’t catch a break

I would take my entire youth group to a binge viewing of any hulk content.
The immortal hulk run by al Ewing is supposed to be really good apparently it's more of a horror book and I think it deals with hulks other personalities, his abusive father and a lot of grotesque body horror imagery
It wouldnt sell maybe a animated show but it wouldnt sell as a feature movie
Very good run! As you mentioned, a lot of horror elements, and there's this concept introduced early on and used throughout the 50+ issues called "the Green Door". A direct live-action adaptation would be difficult, but something including some of the elements and ideas from that story could work (the Hulk, especially at the beginning is lucid kinda like current MCU Hulk.) Could also see it working as a series maybe.
Maybe you could do it as a prequel, to explain how Hulk got to become "Professor Hulk" (and an "integrated character" as Ruffalo put it) in that 5-year gap between the last two Avengers films?
I’m curious as to when this conversation between Mark and Kevin happened. The way it’s worded, it sounds like it happened back around the time of The Avengers, which means things may have changed at this point as, like you said, the rights thing may have reverted back to Marvel/Disney, so a new solo Hulk movie could be possible now.
Yeah what's odd is this conversation sounds like the endpoint was Smart Hulk in Endgame, which I think would set this around Age of Ultron (for his conversation). If the rights reverted I'd love to see Hulk get a film if he's handled right.
@@DegenerateJay Same, I’ve enjoyed Ruffalo’s version of the character and would love to see him get the chance to shine in his own solo movie.
Even if not with Ruffalo, if Secret Wars leads to the MCU soft-rebooting like some have theorized, I wouldn’t mind a new actor taking on the role in a future solo movie either.
@@bigballofnerd My only concern with that soft reboot is that it'll do what comics have a tendency of doing and it will take away the impact or importance of past events. If they can find a way to not do that, I think it would be cool.

Great video Jay and I wish give the hulk a another movie because I actually really like the one with Edward in it and I agree this should of included his character growth on screen and give him more to do and I always liked Edward as the hulk instead of Mark
one thing they could do which is highly unlikely is do some kind of elseworld hulk movie kinda like what dc is gonna do with their movies in the future.

@AlwaysCorrect-ke6tt I don't think the cgi looked all that bad for the Most Part okay a scene or 2 it looks a bit gumpy but for the most part for its time it looks damn good in my opinion especially the scene from the first hulk out at the lab when he finds david and he is touching hulks face it looks real to me

Thinking about the wording, no solo/standalone doesn't actually count out a Hulk movie just Hulk by himself maybe because characters like Skarr, She-Hulk, Red Hulk and etc. would appear alongside him.
Perhaps it would be a better idea to look at the Peter David run, Dogs of War or The Immortal Hulk books.
Take Hulk to his darker, monstrous psychological roots, perhaps by being a merged Hulk it unlocks the other many personalities and makes more unstable then before.
It kinda makes sense. Other than a Hulk vs abomination or hulk vs red hulk. Hit there aren’t many storylines left other than world breaker hulk and Maestro

I have a theory about what they might do with hulk think that they’re actually waiting for the events of secret wars and afterwords that they might bring back how hulk originally was I’m talking about like the Eric Bana and Ed Norton version of the green Goliath and possibly just might combine the two together.
What they also might do is possibly a soft reboot of hulk with different elements from his most popular storyline runs. I can also see maybe re-introducing some of Hulks allies such as the Ross a.k.a. the red she hulk, Rick jones aka a bomb and Jen Walters a.k.a. the original she hulk

My conclusion is that Feige doesn't care for Hulk and isn't interested in doing anything with him. If they wanted to, they would find ways to make it work

I had a idea for a hulk movie and it would work after endgame. It would basically be the "future imperfect" story arc. Have hulk working of the quantum time machine, messing around then all of the sudden, he gets pull in and sent through time. But instead of going into the past he goes into the future. It looks all post-apocalyptic and he is walking around then sees another hulk. The other hulk comes up to him and says his name is "Maestro". He later changes into his human form and it's Eric Bana's hulk. Then just continue off the future imperfect story. It's that easy, I just don't understand why they don't.

That’s very true. I think they were on the verge of bankruptcy though when they sold it: the 90s was very rough on the comic book industry.
Fair but Marvel would have gone bankrupt if they hadn't sold the film rights to most of their most popular characters.
At this point with everything going on around the MCU lately we definitely won’t be getting a Hulk movie sadly since I were like to see one mostly back with the MCU use to be awesome and their good prime but it is what it is at the end of the day here

Universal owns the distribution rights and Disney doesn't want to deal with Universal that's why we haven't got any Hulk movies sense 2008
They could try what the cartoons did with him and have The Hulk form his own team to coincide with the Avengers. Just instead of being kid-friendly, it's a more of an adult themed variant of Agents of SMASH essentially.

Make him like beast from X-Men make him a fighter if need be but also wiser too take hulk in a a more consistent compromise between humorous and serious this is a problem with superhero movies in general
I love the hulk he is one of my favorite characters, if Spider-Man can have a bunch of different movies between 2 companies, hulk can too.

I am curious to hear your thoughts on SuperHero exhaustion; there is a new movie, show, video game almost every other month. And when they come out they tend to over shadow other releases. Im a big comic book guy, but its Kinda making me feel over exposed to it and just kinda tired of seeing it.
Its a massive taboo and every time i mention it i get blasted with pitchforks, torches, and rotten cow heads, so i understand if its not a conversation you want to have. But id be curious to hear your thoughts on it.

They have already set a precedent with Black Widow that you could take these characters and set them in a story in between the Avengers movies AFTER those movies have already come out. Why don’t they realize they can finally make a movie about Hulk and Banner becoming one in between Infinity War and Endgame. Or how Hulk ended up in Ragnarok after Age of Ultron. If they’re going to retcon a Black Widow movie in between these Avengers movies what’s stopping them from retconning in more Hulk stories as well.
The Hulk didn't have any solo film since 2003 and 2008 if marvel didn't sold the company to Disney we would have more hulk film we need hulk have practical effects animatronics on the hulk without cgi i want hulk animated and hulk animated series we want origin of his story
They could do Immortal Hulk (and just ditch his son's storyline which would be for the better) but then again it's Disney, they can't make anything creative or interesting nowadays.

Hulk is still popular but I don't think he's at his height of popularity which is partly because they just throw him in Avengers films as a side character.

It is not that hard to make a good Hulk Movie or Show, all you need is someone like James Cameron or Guillermo del Toro to direct, bring in some talented experienced writers or even comic writers like Peter David or Paul Jenkins or Greg Pak or any of the current writers for Hulk who made Hulk great in the first place and have them help consult with the writing team,
bring in the right acting talent like Sam Eliot as General Ross(he was the best one besides William Hurt) Edward Norton or Eric Bana or even Neal McDonough as Bruce Banner(any one of them would sign on for sure with a great script and a director like James Cameron or Guillermo del Toro or just stick with Mark Ruffalo) Lou Ferrigno or Fred Tatasciore or even Mark Gibbon as The Hulk's Voice(either of them would be great to hear on the big or small screen), Liv Tyler or Jennifer Connelly as Betty Ross, Ty Burrell as Doc Samson, Tim Blake Nelson as Samuel Sterns AKA The Leader, Josh Lucas or Ron Perlman as Emil Blonsky AKA Abomination(I prefer either of them over Tim Roth because they fit the bill far better and both embody the character way more in my opinion), Adrian Pasdar as Glen Talbot, Brian Patrick Wade as Absorbing Man, Hayden Christensen as Rick Jones and maybe Mark Hamill as Gargoyle or Zzzax or Ravage(with a core cast like this your almost guarantied a hit)
and with a budget of at least 10 to 15 Million(basically the budget of Godzilla Minus One) or even 50 Million( The Budget of The Hobbit films) either way that should cover a lot and to top it off with all that you have a recipe for the greatest Hulk Film or show ever made. If it's a show set in the MCU then have it set in between the movies and jump around the timeline and make it about the internal struggle Banner and Hulk have to deal with while the world is out to get them and you can even do a proper origin for She-Hulk and get her right this time along with keeping a dark and epic tone with tragic and somber depths of growth and character development (ON SCREEN) and have levity when Bruce is with his closest ally's like Betty or Rick or Jennifer and give Hulk some much needed ON SCREEN Development alongside Bruce as they are two entities sharing one body, maybe even establish Bruce's D.I.D. and showcase all the different persona's lurking in his mindscape fighting for control. This could all still work as a Trilogy too as long as it has the right balance of depth, action, drama and good pasting, really shows us the strength of this character.
Hulk deserves a Trilogy or Show and the fans deserve something good after all these year's instead of us getting basically the middle finger from Disney/Marvel and Hollywood whenever we ask for just one thing for this character.
You wanna know what's crazy? Universal would take years to make one Hulk movie, each time flopping, but now that MCU made the character super profittable, Universal won't do it anymore. It doesn't make any sense. They literally have the rights to one of the biggest Marvel characters and could milk it as much as they want to, but they choose to just... bury it. I get it, they love 'Fast and Furious', it makes money, but so can Hulk, get on that, Universal. It's right there, just do it.
I think it's an odd decision not to do a hulk solo film with all things considered we have had 2 prior hulk solo films the erick bana 2003 hulk film and the Edward Norton mcu hulk film its only right that Mark ruffalo gets his time to shine in his own film

I lost all hope for Hulk with Endgame and She Hulk. I absolutely hate MCU professor Hulk. They've taken all of the fun of the character and turned him into the cool uncle that jokes around and is a slap in the face to fans who wanted to see Hulk smash
Have hope guys, Marvel and Feige say shit and they eventually listen to fans and change their minds. It happens all the time. I think eventually there will be a WWH movie and Angry Hulk will come back. Marvel sees the reception fans have had to She Hulk and Professor Hulk. Maybe Captain America 4 will help set it up.
Also Ruffalo is talking about old stuff and actors say things and don't actually know what the executives have in mind. Look at Charlie Cox about Daredevil continuity or Deborah Ann Woll about Karen coming back. No one ever thought Garfield and Maguire would come back either. Things change, Marvel eventually listens.
This is what I think that they should do. Have a solo Hulk movie set in between Avengers 1 and 2. It could be Bruce remembering a mission that he was sent on before the events of Age of Ultron.
Idk if we need another flashback movie though because that is kinda what black widow did and they didn’t know how to handle it
