Just getting back into reading, thanks for the recommendations. You didn’t talk too long about the books, but I thought you were concise and very interesting to listen to. Will be watching more :)
Oooh, so many to add to my TBR! Thank you! My most fun fantasy reads of '24 were the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews. I really like the strong, sarcastic, kick-butt female protagonist in that series. The best book for all types of readers that I read was Pillars Of The Earth by Follett. I prefer his spy thrillers from the 80s, but he is a gifted writer in the historical realm as well. I'm headed out to our used bookstore to look for the Keller and the Gemmell.
Great recommendations! I love to see the covers you have for each of these. I also love to see some non-fiction or even authors I don't normally see on "top ten" videos. Great videos, subscribed!
Very interesting that you are ranking 2061 on par with the original 2001. I have only read the original Space Odyssey (many years ago), maybe I should re-read it and continue… 🤔
I reckon I read Code Complete some 30 years ago. It sure was enlightening. My best book of the year was probably Lord of a Shattered Land by Howard Andrew Jones. Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio was a close second.
Here are the best 15 this year i reaeding order - have fun! Kaikessa lihassa on tahto by Jenny Kangasvuo The Spear Cuts through Water by Simon Jimenez Arrival by Ted Chiang Lahtarit by Anneli Kanto L’étranger by Albert Camus Die Enkelin by Bernhard Schlink Tiranan sydän by Pajtim Statovci De fattiga i Łódź by Steve Sem-Sandberg The Book that Wouldn’t Burn by Mark Lawrence Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card Sydänmeri by Anni Kuu Nuppunen Röda rummet by August Strindberg Vadelmavenepakolainen by Miika Nousiainen The City & The City by China Miéville Jade City by Fonda Lee
I want to check out The Book that Wouldn't Burn. I just finished the Broken Empire trilogy, and I really liked it. That is all I have read by Mark Lawrence so far.
@@mtwice4586 Go for it! Myself, I have finished two of his trilogies: Broken Empire, imo excellent, and Red Queen's War, middling. As it seems at the moment, the Library Trilogy could be his best series so far, and I have read the first two books.
I read Feist's first three books (Riftwar Saga) and the three Krondor books (Riftwar Legacy). I absolutely loved them and can't wait to get into some more. Not sure what Feist I should read next.
I like your list and presentation.
Thanks, glad you liked it Ira!
So cool to see such a varied top 10 list. Cheers!
Hey, thanks! We’ll see if the next year has more sci-fi in the top 10

Excellent! I’ve had Pillars of the Earth sitting on my shelf for ages and I’m sorely tempted, but I’m not sure I can fit it in!
What an interesting mix. Sounds like it was a grand year though. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to in 2025.
That’s two of us. Nice logo btw

Looks like you had a great year Nev!
Thanks! I'm already looking forward to next year's list.
@ me too
I haven’t read many of these, but you’ve got me wanting to!!!
Start with Legend. Knowing what you read, I think you’d love it!
@ Legend does sound great! Love that it inspired Gwynne!!!
Very interesting list!
Thanks Wera!
Great video! Thank you for the awesome recs!
Glad you like them!
A pretty cool list, I like how eclectic it is.
Thanks! Yeah, I think eclectic is a good word for it
Great video, Nev! Alright, alright, I will read Legend (very soon). And you've made me very curious for this Tim Keller book.
Great! I think you’ll enjoy both of them
I know, Legend is on my TBR as well, mainly because of Nev's recommendation. I own a copy now, so there is no excuse, haha.
Come back and leave a comment after you read it. I hope it lives up to expectations!

Yeah, definitely give it a go!
Great choices for the year. Crime and Punishment and His Dark Materials are great and worthy inclusions
Have you read C&P or anything else by him?
@ just Crime and Punishment. Plan to read The Brothers Karamazov this year though.
@ nice. I might tackle that next year.
I reckon I read Code Complete some 30 years ago. It sure was enlightening. My best book of the year was probably Lord of a Shattered Land by Howard Andrew Jones. Howling Dark by Christopher Ruocchio was a close second.
Nice. I’ve really gotta get onto those Ruocchio books
