After having a disappointing experience by trying Kydex inserts ourselves, we've come up with our own more simpler solution that didn't cost us anything extra.
This minor modification gave us the ability to have those quick draw and reinserting capabilities while still maintaining a very sturdy hold on our rifle magazines.
We were so pleased with the results that we felt obligated to share this and made a video on how to do it.

Very clever cheap solution . thank you guys. I hope you find more handy tips
Thanks for watching, we hope so as well! Sometimes it just depends on how badly we want to solve a problem. I Instinct out
Hello there mate, was your father a fisherman;
congrats, you have successfully made what was essentially the prototype for the HSGI taco. BUT AT A FRACTION OF THE COST
Haha, great! It shows a lot of similarities indeed. | Viper out
I showed this to a bunch of guys in my unit (We're Infantry) and you solved a lot of our problems we had with those same magazine carrier's. Thank you brother!
Amazing to hear that our solution even helps you guys out doing the real thing! | Instinct

For those of you who want us to get to the point read the comment above. 😁 Also thanks for watching! 🤘 | Instinct out
as a cinematography student, I can say that the production quality of your videos is top notch. you guys should easily have 100k+ subs
Wow, thanks for mentioning that! We heard from many that our videos are good, but to hear it from someone like you makes our day. The fact is, we actually never learned for all of this. We're both scientists that just learned this stuff along the way of doing it. Hopefully we can reach that 100k+ subs one day. ;-) I Viper
Hey guys awesome video. I just did this with one of my pouches. Although on the subject of kydex pouches so you guys can be aware of why they didn't properly work. First off, most kydex mag pouches are super tight because so many mags have different shapes. You are supposed to actually heat them up and then fit your mag inside. As they cool they form for your Mags. Secondly, they are really meant for real use, so the weight of the PC is a big part of how they work. If you aren't running training plates (5lbs+ per plate) you will lift up your PC, but if you have the weight it will give you more leverage on your pull. So if you heat them up and have some weight behind them the kydex pouches are phenomenal. If you still have them you might wanna give my advice a try so the investment isn't a complete loss. About the insert coming out of the pouch, its really a manufacture quality and retention at that point.
Man you guys deserve WAY more subscribers. You guys are so informative! Keep up the awesome work, it's only a matter of time before y'all's channel takes off.
Thanks man! We keep doing our best to help you guys out. Feel free to share our content with your fellow shooters. ✌️ | Viper out
Thanks for the tip. Just did this mod to my bungee mag pouch, saved some money and have the same feature of a fast mag pouch. Very underrated airsoft channel, hopefully you guys will get more attraction in the new year.
Thanks, we're growing steadily so we can't complain! But feel free to share the video to give us a little boost. ;) I Instinct
This just might be the single most brilliant solution to our mag pouch needs. Well done.
Thanks! :D I Instinct
This is very helpful to me. I finally stepped up to the SSR15 DMR build to replace my cancer tactical gen 2 and got a chest rig I’ve been trying to properly set up
Impressive how the best solutions are usually the simplest. Thanks, man. God bless you
Thanks, for taking the time to comment, much appreciated!
Pretty damn clever solution. I definitely like it. Great job fellas.
Amazing vid. Not to mention a awesome looking gun hanging in the back ground. Love the paint job on everything. Amazing
Thanks! And it's not a paint job, it's actually Gearskin. This is Cordura with a special adhesive that can be added and removed numerous times. If you don't know it, we made a video about that as well: ua-cam.com/video/wH5PpINahpA/v-deo.html
and we also sell it through: shop.reconbrothers.com/varia-supplies/camouflage/ I Viper
Hey guys I Just whant to say that am I wery happy because this small airsoft UA-cam scene has got these two experts and I hope this Channel Will had 1 000 000 subscribers one Day and I have one request can you start making video twice a week because for my and other 1.1k of People One video per week is a bit.
Your big fan Vedran OUT
vedran satordzija I like you mindset and your request, but I believe that given the content they provide ( research or experience ) as Well as the high level of editing and rendering those videos must take a brunch of time to be created. Sure there is always place for improvement in anything one does but it is rare that i see Channels with such a high potential and honest content 👍🏻🔥
We would sure love to do that, but for now it is unfortunately impossible. We are working hard to get to a point were we have a lot of videos just waiting to be released. But there's always something that puts us back in line. We are always about 1 or 2 videos ahead which is way too less to be honest. Of course this has to do with the fact that we are doing everything with the 2 of us. But we hope to change that once our webshop goes online. Anyway huge thanks for being a Fan! I Instinct out

This is perfect for what I’m needing awsome again guys 👍🏻
Great to read that! Let us know how it works out for you. And thanks for sharing! 🙏 | Instinct out
Great idea! Thank you!
Probably the cheapest yet most beneficial tip I've come across! Playing airsoft, I had some pistol mag pouches with almost no retention and the bungee kept sliding off of the mags, so I was afraid of losing them. This solved my problem perfectly! It worked great, even tough the two pistol mag pouches were joined together :)
Cool, glad it helped you out! We actually see quite a lot of airsofters use this technique... I never thought it would get this much traction but it is nice to see.
Thanks. I am going to try this.
You guys deserve much higher ranking. 2 experts soon to be discovered By many more. Keep it up guys, you Rock 👍🏻🔥👌🏻
Thanks, we sure hope to grow our channel and create the ability to help more people out. I Instinct out
Great help. Hope that during actual combat it doesn't fall when crawling. Good job! Appreciate the new idea.
Thanks for watching, it didn't fail me when crawling but if it fails you let me know, I like to know how reliable my trick is to other users. ;) I Instinct
Wooooooow!!!!!! Thanks for making this super simple mod known since I have tried to make up my own plastic inserts to no good success. I will be saving money over spending a bunch. THANKS FOR THE ADVICE!
You're welcome! 😁👍 | Viper
Reconbrothers I’ll definitely do this mod to hold me over until I can get a hold of some of the recommended pouches. I have a milsim event that’s a little too close for getting them in time but really like the designs. (I live super close to High Speed Gear Inc (HSGI) business location but would like to be “different” :P)
Thanks. This helped a lot in making my double mag pouches hold my mags better in place
Glad it helped. 👍 I Viper
Simple, cost free and effective - You got to love it :)
Exactly! ;) I Instinct
Good job guys. Been doin this for years. Got the idea from ats. If you run it through the middle molle seam. Itll hold tighter. Atleast thats how i do it on my tac tailor triple mag pouch. Note that: the bungee is more susceptible to damage cause its in the open (ie if you get caught on a branch, etc.) but i also run a double bfg ten speed over it. Rarely put 2 extra mags in the bfg. But lies flat when not in use.
Nice! With the pouches from Tasmanian tiger our method works just fine, but it's good to know you can get it even tighter by applying what you wrote! | Instinct out
Brilliant. Thanks a lot for this!
Thanks! You're welcome! ;-) 👍🏼 | Instinct
Great video. Very good trick
Thanks, hope it helps.
This is genius, well done guys. My pouches hold 4 MP5 images or 2 or 3 M4 mags. I've always used velcro flaps, which yes they make a noise, but when in action your gun is loaded, so once you've fired enough rounds to change mags under fire, the enemy typically have an idea you're there. If I switched to single mag pouches tgus would certainly be something I would do, but I tend to operate with 9 magazines usually as standard.
Thanks! You actually made a good point regarding the velcro pouches. Though the sound also indicates that you are reloading which might motivate your opponent to come for you. I Instinct out

If you have a flap pouch with velcro instead tuck in the flap its really simple and holds mags well
That highly depends on how tight that pouch fits your mags. Also these are mostly pouches for 2 mags and once you take one out that's no longer the case anymore. I Viper
Older video but only just watched this today. Already converted all my mag pouches this way and I'm in love. I be to lazy sometimes to buy the real good stuff. And broke lol
Awesome! Yeah I had the same feeling back in the day so I really needed to find a solution. ;) I Instinct
This is even a better solution than buying fastmags! With this you can decide what type of mag you need based on the scenario. I was going to buy fastmags from TT but now i think i will buy the bunge ones and change them to fastmags whenever i need. You just increased the modularity of TT products. They should pay you :D
They don't listen to our advice, so we stopped giving them advice. ;) I Instinct
Awesome!
😁😁😁 I Viper
About to take this one now for all 4 of my mag pouches! Great tutorial, and an awesome solution. Now I don't have to buy the Tacos! Thanks for putting this out there!
You're welcome! 😉 I Viper
@@ReconBrothers update: it worked out great! I had to do a small amount of customization to the three mag pouch, so that I could thread the cords through, but they all came out awesome! Thanks again for the idea!
I tested it out.
1. My cords were too short to do it like in your video. So I didn’t do that last threading, and they were still a little too short
2. Yes, I got it to hold a loaded mag but after trying to fine tune it putting it back in; it was difficult because the fabric was bunched up.
If I had a longer cord and a clip like y’all do, I can see it working.
Thanks for sharing your own testing results. Too bad it wasn't helpfull to you.
damn your smart AF, why haven't I thought of this! great work!
Thanks mate! Hope it works for you as well! I Instinct
Do they mag fast mag holders for belt set ups that fit galil 556 rock and lock mags
Ik ga dit zeker proberen! Thanks!:))
Welcome bro! I Viper
Well you just saved me a few hundred dollars thank brother
You're welcome! 🤙😄 I Viper
Hello! Do you think this could work on triple mag pouches as well? Maybe linking the middle ones together and the extremities to the back molle? If anyone as done it I'm waiting to hear about it. Cheers!
What kind of clips are those again?
can u use these to fit ak mags ??
How can I do that with a vest that has them built into it? I can’t take my pouches off 😩
I'm looking into kydex rather than elastic retention just to keep things sleek. Would there be any problems with importing Esstac Kywis into Belgium if you wanted to?
I don't think there will be a problem, but it will cost you. | Viper
Hey, does anybode here know, if this will work for different mag-sizes?
I want to build a chestrig which can hold G36 and M4 Mags - do the larger G36 pouches still hold m4 mags with this mod??
I know i could use the TT - fast mag pouch, but i want to have 5 rows of molle on the outside, so i can still mount an admin pouch infront of my mags.
And any "fast - pouch" only has 4 rows, so i thought this trick could be the solution.
would be greatly appreciated if someone shares his experiences. :)
edit: the g36 mags are "cleaned" so those connectors are gone
Where can i buy this inserts?
very good solution, but i tried this on condor mag pouches and it didn't worked out at all as intended cuz condor pouches are way softer than your tasmanian tiger pouches
You only show how to do it with a single mag holder, but I see you have it set up for 2 on the left, your right. How do we do it for three and two connected mag holders?
If you visit the link: reconbrothers.com/training/how-to-mod-an-ar-bungee-mag-pouch-to-a-fast-mag-pouch/ you will find our blogpost with the added pictures and explanation on how to do it for double and triple mag pouches. The guide starts once you see the big image of the double molle pouches. | Instinct out
is it possible to do this on a triple mag pouch? and if so can we get a tutorial since that is one of the most popular mag pouch formats. the one in this video is too fast to see clearly what you are doing even on 0.5x speed
Will this work for the pouches that have a pistol pouch attached on the front?
Maybe, depends on the design. I Viper
Is there a similar way for Mag pouches that are sewn together?
Yes, there is a way, but it is less good. www.reconbrothers.com/blog/tips-tricks-4/how-to-mod-an-ar-bungee-mag-pouch-to-a-fast-mag-pouch-11
Can you give me a link to the plate carrier and those pouches you're wearing in the video?
The plate carrier my brother's wearing here is an old version they don't make anymore (it's the TT PC MKIII). Now, there's the MKIV (shop.reconbrothers.com/product/tasmanian-tiger-plate-carrier-mkiv/) and the QR LC (shop.reconbrothers.com/product/tasmanian-tiger-plate-carrier-qr-lc/). He now has the QR LC and is very pleased with it. Also the pouches are a new version nowadays. You can find them here: shop.reconbrothers.com/product/tasmanian-tiger-sgl-mag-pouch-bel-m4-mkii/ but in our opinion you're better off with fast mag pouches from the start. For this we recommend these: shop.reconbrothers.com/product/tasmanian-tiger-sgl-mag-pouch-mcl-lp/ As you can see, we sell these products over our own shop and certainly have a look around for our "combo packs" that can save you some good amound of money if you're looking for a full setup. ✌ | Viper out
@@ReconBrothers Thanks!

what size of shock cord are you guys using? I'm looking at 1/8 inch but I'd like to be certain
We're using the shock cords that came with these pouches. Ours have a length of 23.622 inches and about 1/8 inch in thickness. I Instinct

Can you do this on triple mag pouches?
Hi, yes you can do basically the same with double and triple mag pouches, though it feels a bit less secure in my opinion, that's also why it's not in the video. But due to the high demand we added it to our blogpost. Here's the link: reconbrothers.com/training/how-to-mod-an-ar-bungee-mag-pouch-to-a-fast-mag-pouch/ | Instinct
Would you say this modded mag pouch is better/more efficient than a purpose made fastmag pouch, you showed at 4:52?
I'd say they can be about the same for your modded pouch, but that depends on its design/build. With a purposely designed fast mag, you will be certain. I Viper
do they fit ak74 mags after the modification
No clue, give it a try if you have some pouches laying around. I Instinct
Looks like a great mod. Is there a way to do it for the pouches that are joined to each other as a triple?
Yes, we show it on our blog: www.reconbrothers.com/blog/reconbrothers-5/what-magazine-pouch-should-you-get-24
@@ReconBrothers I couldn't see it on there. I'm not sure how you would do this mod on the bungee pouches that are joined together as a triple pouch.

@@ReconBrothers thank you.
Are those airsoft mags or real mags? I'm curious about the weight to retention ratio of airsoft vs real.
That's indeed a good question. These are AEG Airsoft magazines which are pretty light, but soon we'll have some more heavier GBBR Airsoft magazines which will give us a better idea of the retention with those. Unfortunately we can't test real steel magazines, but maybe someone is willing to test that out and let us know. | Viper out
@@ReconBrothers Thanks for getting back to me.
Is there a way to do this with in-built pouches? If so how? I can send you a photo of it if needed

@@ReconBrothers Awesome, thank you!
is there any way to do this on a triple mag pouch?
I did it on my double mag pouch which worked but I didn't like it as much as with the single mag ones. So theoretically it should work as well with the triple mag pouches. You will need 4 bungee cords though. 1 for every side and 1 between the 1st and 2nd, and between the 2nd and 3th. If you want I can make some pics tomorrow to explain it as well. | Instinct out
@@ReconBrothers i think i may have figured out a way... i just cut small holes to where the bungee cords are needed to go

Can this be done with a 6 mag m4 pouch
Honestly, I have no clue! It highly depends on how the pouch is being constructed. Maybe you can find a way to make that happen, idk. I Viper
Well there goes your next video make it happen!
Video starts at @3:20
They never showed that the mags were loaded (which would be a lot heavier) when they did the shake test. Has anyone tested this with loaded mags???
Unfortunately we don't have real mags and bullets to do the test. But they do sit very secure in my opinion. If you were to test it out yourself, let me know how it works out. | Instinct
Why did you put the most important part in fast motion..
now do it with loaded mags ;)

Video was too fast to pay attention how you set it up… good thing UA-cam can slow the speed down
Noted
or just buy the elastic pouches edit: nevermind you cant put the mags back in
There are indeed some very good fast mag pouches which will definitely be better than applying this mod, while still allowing to put the magazine back in. But this is just a low budget modification that might improve people their gear. ;-) | Instinct
