There's a hostage situation or a melt down or some shit going on outside his apartment and Daigo's just like
"hmmm............neutral jump........"
oh my god he has his headphones on
It is obvious that Daigod has no interest for such petty mortal concerns. Especially when he is in the process of unveiling the deepest truths of martial arts.
S tier name
Lmao now that was funny "hostage situation or meltdown".
That's just an ambulance, they are telling people to not cross the road because they are in a hurry, basically.
Can we just appreciate how good that Fang player is
plus + all day on everything
He was not all that good. Pretty clumsy.
@@russhl125 he kept up pretty good against Daigo tho
GTAB
nah
It's like Fang was made to wash you if you aren't careful.
It's very humbling to see daigo get shreked by fang and then go into training. It goes to show howthst everyone has to always workout in work to be good.
RyuHoly I know it’s crazy!! Even the best players are still learning! That’s what makes fighting games great always something you don’t know
Yeah exactly the thing is they are amazing amazing players. But like any sport or game or anything that saying “there’s always someone better” definitely comes Into play. Just because these really experienced players never went to tournaments or whatever we don’t know their names but they do exist and are out there. That game was definitely fun to watch.
The thing is they know how to learn... me just~ I’m just so bad I don’t know where to start.
poyi1013 I would say the best place to start is pick a main character. Use only this character. Learn the moves learn the weaknesses and strengths etc. practice a lot. Then when you get into a match and vs a character you don’t know, and if they beat
You. Take the character you faced and learn how to counter their moves like in this video in training mode like this video shows. Yes it’s time consuming and yes a lot of information but if you want to get better this is some of the best ways to start. You don’t need to be a god at the game but at least you can learn the basics and beyond.
It’s ok To be White
It takes scary amount of time to learn the basic. I know start small learn how to block each move and what can be punished and what can’t is the basic of get better.
This is how you lab matchups... take notes
And when was the last tournament Daigo won?
@@chriswheeler5808 this ain't about winning, it's an example of how to get better
Daigo got 33rd at Evo and will probably out place you at any event you go to
@@chriswheeler5808 idk last year.... he is been doing it in decades
This is really good info on how good players just figure stuff out. Got beat by something? Lab it up and figure it out. This is the way. I love it.
I think by documenting the thought process, shows he's learning with us all too, or at least seems that way
Smug got lab notes down to a science. Replays the clip and zooms in, slows the video down, and writes how his move just beat out something annoying or scary. He doesn't skip any footage either, which allows both him and the viewer to figure things out together. Taking the time to learn from Smug legit makes you better. Daigo is at least showing himself trying different things in neutral to stuff out Fang's bullshit though, so he's not a bad teacher, either.
I prefer how daigo labs but it's just my preference
Late response, but Smug does so more like he's showing an audience, which he is. I watch the UA-cam videos of his instead of his stream, so when he makes notes on what's effective and what to watch for, it's emphasized in the video. Daigo's method is more like he's taking his own time to learn something, and you learn through him.
I’ve never know how to lab properly this video is a big help, is there a specific smug video you’d recommend that displays how well his labbing method works
@@soversetile It varies per person, plus it's hard to really talk about Smug's technique because what he does during stream for an audience can differ when he's offline prepping for a tournament.
Your best bet is to focus on what you want to do: Do you want to get a proper combo from a whiff punish? Are you trying to memorize frame data when using poke? Know what you're trying to do first, and you can use that to focus your practice.
What is this smug dude's channel?
Daigo in 2020: Strong characters are strong.
Thank you so much, I love these. I can read and not have to have the sound up and also learn badass advice straight from a master
Title: "Weak characters are weak for a reason"
Subtitles: "Rare characters are rare for a reason"
So, which is it?
good question. i looked into it and he's saying マイナー (Minor).
which means the same as it does it english: minor; small; unimportant; obscure
Definitely think it leans more into "rare" than "weak." Daigo above explains it himself how unpopular/obscure characters has the possible advantage of "not many knows my moveset" and can be capitalized by those who main such.
I presume "weak characters" is more eye-catching than "rare characters."
I'm pretty sure it meant "rare". Because "Weak" in that context doesn't mean any sense.
@@PaschanTOPs I think it's "rare" as well, but it could have been "weak" in the sense of developers favoring certain characters when making the game.
Well vega is the first example of an obscure character, because not many learned how to use him much less fight against him. a good Vega can seem invincible until one realises how to punish his wall jumping specials. Blanka and dhalsim were pretty popular but fall into a similar category.
SNK and ArcSys called, they want their weird, unorthodox, setup-heavy character back.
9:13 Theres like a mufuggin terrorist attack happening outside his place and Daigo is just chilling.
He did what's called a pro gamer move.
“It’s always his turn” coming from a Guile main
Lmao, I know right xD
Low tiers are so fun to use!!! if you grind them enough you are literally THAT GUY still finding out how to use an optimal character.
I'm telling you people are still sleeping on Fang. Constant pressure and mix ups. There just hasn't been a top player to put him in the spotlight like Punk did for Karin.
Xian used to main him when he was better than now seasons ago. Just more technical chars like ibuki or zeku outshine him now.
It seems like, Unlike most characters, He forces a mind game against nearly every opponent, If You utilize His variable timing correctly
It's a game where 90% of the cast has a 50-60% damage combo, and the characters that don't, with the exception of Menat, are irrelevant.
fang specializes in pressure and mind games, but hes also difficult to play
You're a loser
1:57 DSP: "D00d! What am I supposed to do about that! That's totally broken! Online combos!" LTG: "Nope. *disconnects* I don't respect players who do that. You're not getting a win against me. lay someone I can beat-er, I mean, that I respect." Daigo: "This....I wonder what I'm supposed to do against that." That approach is why Daigo is great and people like DSP and LTG aren't.
If it were actually DSP he'd say "PFFFTTT WHATEVER MAN THAT'S BULLSHIT!" and then beg for more donations.
Comparing a legend to 2 clowns?
That's not applicable, but at least compared to LTG, DSP knew there's something wrong and doesn't need to make excuses unlike LTG who's a bitch who literally barks all the time because DSP is always drunk, but i'm not saying i'm a fan of DSP, i'm just acknowledging how intellectual he is compared to LTG despite being drunk all the time but at least his honest... Well not always but at least he doesn't rage quit a lot and literally barking
It’s the winner’s mentality versus the loser’s. The loser says, “This isn’t fair. I can’t beat this.” (passive, defeatist attitude). The winner says, “This is a problem, but there is a solution if I can figure it out.” (active, optimistic attitude). The winner doesn’t accept things as they are, he looks to change things to achieve his goal. It’s that adaptive, solution oriented mindset that makes the best players successful, and people like LTG and DSP unsuccessful.
@@Icipher353 while you're not wrong you sound like an absolutely insufferable person
@@waking00one That seemed unnecessary. He's just explaining in more detail what I said earlier. How does that make him insufferable? I appreciate his insight.
Been doing that for 20 years.
He needs all frame data to lock fang down.
I see special vulnerable box properties that need to be researched, wiff recovery and independent gaurd advantage from blocked projectiles.
He is fighting a sub marvel character with a core street fighter character which is difficult.
I LOVE the current fonts. Though it would be nice if the content duration/time before the show match fillers was still labeled somewhere. Maybe in the description might be good? Thanks as always dude.
This is a true gamer. He lost and goes to figure out how to become better. He doesn’t cry or bitch or disconnect. All fighting game players should learn to from this example.
Huh, never took Daigo for a pikmin fan
There's two kind of SF players:
The ones that, when losing, study their own strategies and the opponent's, and learn and get better.
And the ones that scream and get angry and whine when losing to someone else and never accept they did something wrong.
Low tier god
It's not my fault its the controller!
Hah, forget about my type, the ones who lose then immediately que back into another game because we have fun regardless of getting our asses beat
I love the work ethic he has
I never seen a Fang glide in the air at all
he is a bird lmao
And he won Vegapatch the last time they fought each other
I love how calculating he his.
Man fang really reminds me of Duo Lon from KOF XIII
Duo Lon was badass
This Fang player helped me understand what this character is all about
fang voice sounds like Zeppeli from JoJo asb
Is Zeppeli Shigeru Chiba?
Daigo is a genius. Pay very close attention
LOL going into lab makes you a genius? Alright then. It's what literally any half decent player would do.
1:55 Daigo : "ooh"
Subtitles: I wonder what im supposed to do against that
wtf??
This is why tier lists don't matter. The character can be bottom of the barrel in terms of options and damage. But if you don't know the match up, you're going to lose.
I now know how a move from a character is supposed to be countered by another character fo a game I've never played. You must go deeper.
does daigo have a giant red pikmin in his room? daigo has a giant red pikmin in his room.
Just now seeing the fgc translated page much respect✊
i could watch this FANG play all day, what a legend
and Daigo takes note of Fang's Move then see what happen then^^
I didn't absorb everything (non fighting gamer here) but damn, this was impressive to watch the man at work =)
I wish I took notes like Daigo did
9:23 who are those policemen
They came looking for the memes monkaS
Weak characters get the real life Option Select upon both winning or losing. That's the key. If you lose to a weak character, then that means you fundamentally are not good. However, when you best a weak character, it's because the character is just that. Weak.
People basically finds an excuse to cover up their own mistakes by playing a weak character.
Losing to a weak character makes you ignorant, not bad. An extremely good player can lose to something they are unfamiliar with.
@@Saskaruto16 Reminder: Tokido vs. Mena at the time, when Birdie was irrelevant.
@@baadshahmiya That... was the joke.
@@NightmareJames But secretly Birdie at the time had way too good options but no one was aware such as safe sweeps, bullhorn etc. He wasn't weak. Unfamiliarity will win until people do research.
Daigo is such a n00b. What he shoudda done, was blacklist ban block the other bloke, perpetually whining about it all, and then rage quitting the game in order to not give the other guy the win.
Also, screeching “F.A.N.G. is so broken ass bitch shit” (tears tears tears).
Feng: Chop low! Rob Lowe! Chad Lowe!
I never got fang either I get washed by fangs
Daigo is just a human. He may be a greatest player in SF game, but he's just a human.
That, I understand....
There are weak characters but its the player that makes them great.
Oh boy did this age poorly.
Fast forward 1 year, Daigo no considers Fang to be A-tier
V-Skill 2 almost looks like it was designed for this matchup, based on how much FANG can ignore Guile's main game plan.
Damn. That Fang character is HELLA scary looking.
"Dee Jay"
That's why his is a top player......
i think some people just prefer to zag while everyone else without the strong need to stand out chooses to zig. For example I liked using kuma the bear in teken tag because he has the flair of crouching, headbutting, and hugging while everyone else in the arcade spams light attacks because they dont typically memorize combos
Fang is not made to be weak, he is made for specific of people, like me who just wants to annoy the fuck out of my opponent
Weak players, make characters look weak.
Any character can be strong when used right.
FACTS!!!!
Smash needs an actual training mode, just saying.
Uh yea lemme get a training mode for gang beasts and mario party too lol. Ultimate does not need a training mode... theres not enough options or dynamic gameplay involved to need that. Remember the creator doesnt want a competitive game he wants a fun game for kids. Its not included cause you dont need it
@@TOGGGAA1 So 60± characters isn't enough options?
@@avo616 The fact that you dont even know what im talking about when it comes to options only proves my point lol. Compared to real fighting games, smash characters are severely limited when it comes to their movesets.
@valy0f Winning or losing EVO is not going to change the fact that as a fighting game, smash characters have very limited movesets, playstyles, and defense options. Your argument against that was a joke, and is more of a challenge then a point of debate. Nice try, lil guy
valy0f Definitely!
For fucks sake Daigo just neutral jump against him when he goes for senpukuga.
That the difference, Daigo laughs it off, thinks methodically appreciates the opposing player, and tests what can be done. Where I'd be "Cheating (bleep), this character is broken, stop doing the same thing, that move is impossible to block, argh Im going playing Yie Ar Kung-Fu instead"
Someone finally said it
Doesn't guile have a diagonal sonic boom? That shoot downward?
Rare isn't Weak; although in the long run, it is so.
Probably just lost in translation
That makes sense. Most of the wins are from the lack of knowledge of the match up.
Once more people understand the match up, there true strength/weakness is exposed.
Well which is it? "Rare characters are rare for a reason." Or, " weak characters are weak for a reason."
It's clickbait
@Camillo See for a second I though you tried to say "science".
it's rare characters are rare for a reason/characters considered weak & not favoured aren't played for a reason so he just needs to figure out what about them sucks so he can exploit it
You can make an entire anime about Diego and I'd watch it.
Watched whole vid and what's the reason? Seems pretty good to me. If Daigo has to take note on a character, I don't consider that character weak.
Hes a gimmick character, almost no ine plays him. He got caught off guard lmfao
Nicholas Termignon I disagree. Every character could be that way until someones gets good with them.
I think it's more that fang just has a good match up against guile but against others not so much
Fang isn't weak anymore.
lw037journey Match up knowledge plays a heavy factor in matches. It’s significantly easier to fight against a character you’re experienced with compared to one where you have little understanding of their capabilities. Many modern fighting games are balanced enough that anyone can be threatening when you fight them early on, but once you start digging into them more, you find weaknesses in them and get a better understanding of why people consider them low tier.
wow..he breaks it down so much..no wonder..

It's good that fang has good mix ups up but tbh Ibuki does the same thing and is generally better in most situations.
Study your enemy.
People die when they are killed
So is there a video where he uses what he learnt against another Fang player?
The weak should fear the strong.
LOL
I don't get the title... but good video.
I think he means "Hard to play and master but once you do they are really good even if they dont deal much damage" or something
I understood it as "if a character is considered weak and rarely played, their apparent strength is only the result of your lack of knowledge of how to beat them"
Basically, you gotta find why they aren't played, or they'll get free wins out of your ignorance of the MU. I think.
That means weak characters are supposed to be that way since their toolkits are so flawed you just cant even buff them without making it overpowered.
P O I S O N
Guys, i know i'm super late.. but any recommendation on easier char to learn for beginner? The last street fighter i played i SF 2 turbo...
Falke and Ed are great noob starters as they don't require motion inputs, although if you're not afraid of those you can start with Ryu or Ken, both are pretty good and easy to learn, you also have Kage and Akuma if you want more aggressive versions of Ryu, finally, Nash is pretty much Guile without charge movements so he's pretty neat too
9:18 The fuck was happening with the police thing in that moment
FANG is the right amount of gimmickey that its just really weird whatching him fight kindalike yoshimitsu in tekken
Well, FANG exist for a reason. To annoy the annoying spammers hahahah. Daigo is a spammer. Secret top tier: F.A.N.G
Despite this is great and he is still learning. I'm kinda mad he decided to ditch Ryu and using a top tier character
Hello,im new in the game, guile is considered top tier?
Interesting Feng has long range
S O N I C B O O M
i get what he is saying but there should be only two or three weak char not like 25 weak char out of 35 (SF V)
The larger the roster, the more you get non-functional kits and degenerate characters that would be bad for the game if they were strong.
Even aside from those two issues, the devs have to care about balance at top level play and put a lot of time in with patches and stuff to be able to achieve it.
Tekken 7 is one of the most balanced fighting games because of the years of top level play and very good devs only patching problems and trying to buff bad characters without making them degenerate. And even then some characters just fall off at high level because their kits just can't cut it for the requirements of top level play.
One of the only other extremely balanced games I can think of is Rivals of Aether. However they have achieved that through having a less than 20 man roster, good patching, as well as deliberately not putting in kits and mechanics that had caused problems in the other similar platform fighters.
Lol what? Theres like 10 at worst
Who are these 25 weak characters lol. I’d say the game has about 5 REALLY good characters but the rest are still pretty. A good Ed can still body you online.
@@ngubod16 online... that's key.
@@Saskaruto16 I think they should have just had a list of things that make the characters good but not broken in the past and make a base kit that everyone has. Like make ryu be middle of the pack on everything on that list but then say make cammy better at other things and proportionally bad at other things on the list. for example. (This is more complicated though it's not like giving a character a 7/10 anti air equates to a 3/10 rushdown game. There is also options as well as in a character can have the 2nd best camp in the game but if they try and camp against the first they will lose. To counter this the 2nd will have to have a good method of getting in or a different method of camping ti contest and be viable vs just using the best camper. Which can be done with one really good or hard to use or time limited method to get in so that it's not a good method of getting in but it works if you set up for it/know how to use it well. It won't be better than other characters at getting in but will be able to put the best camper in the spot they don't want to be and hold ground there and play their game.
Tldr; I think they need to balance with a more rpg min maxing method while also taking in account what they want to do and how they can deal with other tools. As in if a character is hard to get in on in a matchup, then that character should have just as hard if not more to get out. (Like if they start off with their ideal scenario then it should be harder to get out but if it's more equal then it can be 50/50)
5:44 il dit what it is 😂😂😂😂😂
Damn bro, I really fuckin hate FANG, not even because of his moveset or because he beats me. He’s just weird and I very much dislike the l o n g e skull he’s got goin on
why does he look so young
Reason why you picked Guile? What is the point of playing a game if you can only be good depending on your character?
Well, the dedicated pro picks one or two characters and focus on mastering those characters. They want to win tournaments, after all.
Just like how a musician would spend years mastering 1 piece of music, a pro player would spend years mastering 1 character. A pro lives and dies by that choice. In essence, you can say he's not playing for fun, but rather for money. It's a job, not a hobby.
Because that's how you get good.
At certain point charcters just hold you back. You have to put too much effort to compensate for their limitations, and it's not worth it. Take Ryu's new v-skill, it's a "parry" that only works if you anticipate moves, because it is so slow, if you do it on reaction you get beaten. You can't rely on predicting people, no amount of skill will compensate for that, so you're just giving yourself a disadvantage for no reason. This people compete at tournaments, if you just play casually, pick whatever you want, bad characters don't matter online, only when money is on the line.
What does F.A.N.G. stand for????
Good you're practicing. But, use your tactics often, and the player will figure out how to counter what you are doing.

Just like Ryu
Daigo lost his edge to be the best. He just doesn’t care and is bored. Salute for all the old daigo videos, the myth the legend
Ah. Is that why he's trying to figure out how to counter Fang?
Sumgai I felt I was the best when they were only arcades to be played at. There was no internet for me to really gauge how good I was. I gambled everyone I played and won. I would travel everywhere in the 90’s in Cali. When I got a girlfriend I gave up playing games. Somewhere down the line he just bored and doesn’t have that fire to win and do whatever it takes.

The developers indeed that
Why do all of Daigo's matches use that awful training background?
@@donutsama285 A logical explanation, although it makes the matches less enjoyable to watch due to the blandness. Competitive gaming sacrifices presentation sometimes like this which I think hurts the scene. Although I'm sure fighting games and e-sports are still as popular as they've ever been. Stuff like this just turns me off to it. Just my opinion.
@@donutsama285 Yeah I understand the logic behind it, but then it seems like every pro match would be on the training stage. I would say that I wish Capcom would do more to fix the lag in the game, but SFV honestly was a disappointment all around. Especially compared to games like Guilty Gear Xrd and Dragon Ball Fighterz
@@donutsama285 No, the thing that bothers most players is the lack of singleplayer content. Soul Calibur 2 and Guilty Gear X2 are games I loved because they actually offered a gamer substance without needing to compete with people who only play that game in question non-stop. If mutliplayer online is all that game offers, that will quickly turn off the mass appeal because online is just dominated by people who grind it out. And it's not just SF, Guilty Gear Xrd and Soul Calibur V also had crap for single player. Xrd had far superior graphics and gameplay compared to X2, but I didn't play it as much because it just didn't offer as much single player. The "story mode" is just an animated movie, and was boring as hell.
@@donutsama285 Agreed on NRS games. I wish more companies followed in their example. I actually own Battle Fantasia on Steam but I only played it briefly. I'll look into Granblue Fantasy, but if these mainstream fighting game companies want to survive, they need to have singleplayer experiences that don't suck. Competitive e-sports only goes so far. No one will care about fighting game e-sports if their games don't have mass market appeal to gamers in the first place, and outside of competitive peeps who only play multiplayer, no one else will really give a shit.
another reason is he can use those grid for measurement.
