Concordia plays brilliantly with 3, as is the case with so many Euros. It’s actually my favorite player count. This game is so good, I’ll play it until the day I die. Thanks as always for the vid!
Great video bro(or bruv)! Extremely relevant for me as I have been debating on getting this game here in 2020. My old lady wants to play good old Catan and use it to introduce new players, but we've been gaming for about 8 years and haven't played Catan since maybe 2015. I've been looking for something to scratch that itch but maybe has more depth and have been considering Concordia. We love deckbuilding as a mechanic so this seems perfect. I was concerned though, because the game is 5-6 years old that it wouldn't be enough, the reviews are old and hundreds of euros have come out since. Your video answers my questions and I've decided to pick it up. My question for you - I can get the base game for $48 US on Amazon, or a version that combines the base game plus Venus for $62 US. Which do you recommend. If I get just the base game I can maybe swing Salsa, but if I get the Venus combo no way. I'm leaning Venus because it's one box and allows for 6 players straight away. What do you think?
I’d get the base game, then salsa then some more maps then Venus is you want to get mental with it. The extra cash for Venus is better spent on a map pack tbh. Venus doesn’t really add much for the money and the 6 player game sucks. Glad my videos helped you out mate 👍
Second video I've watched. You've outed yourself, mate. Tough guys don't use card protectors. I knew you were a softie. :) Love Concordia, but we always play 2 player, using the smaller maps like Creta. It's wonderful at 2, to us.
Thanks, which expansions do you own for it? I picked up Salsa and Aegyptus / Creta :) Not fussed about Venus, as my group hate team games; I heard the one with the fish market - Cyprus is cool too.
“It doesn’t really work at two players”...? Really? I strongly disagree with this. It’s an excellent 2 and 3 player game. You just pick the appropriate map. Balearics, Corsica, Crete, Egypt are all really excellent at 2p. Concordia is impressive in that not only can you choose a map that scales to the player count, but you can also scale the map to the play style of game if you want as well. You can play a 5 player game on the smallest maps if you want an extremely tight, expensive, in your face game, or play 2 player on the largest maps if you fancy a really open game where you barely get in each other’s way at all. Concordia works beautifully at all player counts.
How have I not seen this channel before? I have Concordia, but because of that b#ll*cks COVID I haven’t played it yet! I have heard from many sources that it’s pie hot. It’s just released on Steam and on iOS, and I suspect it’s also on Android! So I’m going to be playing this game for the first time this week :D
Colonists don't move onto cities. They move along (and stay on) routes. Once a colonist moves, it should always be on a route adjacent to two cities (not on a city).
@@BoardGameBollocks Haha, I feel your pain there. It's annoying how often I look back over a problem and say "Oh yeah, I see the issue now. It's because I'm an idiot..."
11:00 I sold everything concordia, because you need friends who want to play it as well, and everyone was like meh, and for solo it's too much work wrt other solos. When I look at the product i don't "feel" anything. And the extra maps are just, maps. No box or anything. Great for cons. Not for homes.
I think Concordia can be as open or as close as you want and can be goot with two players. I play with my wife with Italy map of the base game (we don't have any expansions) and sure, you can all do stuff in your own half of the map, but it could as effective and as fun to purposefuly try to build in provinces where you opponent has built his stuff. Overall, I think Concordia plays just as well as any other euro I played: The Voyages of Marco Polo, Viticulture or Terraforming Mars. But I still wouldn't recommend Concordia, after a little more than 10 games it became quite stale and boring. You just do the same stuff every game, the strategy never changes from game to game. Overall, I don't get the praise of Concordia. Yeah, it's an elegant game which manages to feel quite "weighty" with a very simple rules, but I think it's just not that fun to play, right now I would certainly prefer almost any other euro-game I have to play.
Here's the guy who didn't agree with you on Raiders of the North Sea. We agree on Concordia. My favourite game of all time. Have everything for it, with custom box to fit it all in. Amazing. You're still wrong on Raiders 😁😁😁
@@BoardGameBollocks it was made by a friend from inmybox.eu. They're making board game related stuff. You can see it here: www.boardgamegeek.com/images/user/421994 Just simple box, but fits the whole thing.
I would say that the more depressing issue with two players is that it takes away the power of the Diplomat, since it only has one option on each turn.
Salsa is a must have. It’s like it’s part of the core game now. We have all the map boards and they vary in quality but we’ve not been able to play with Venus yet. 6 players or bust for me. Thanks for commenting. 👏🏻
I don't understand the map/player count con. It doesn't seem like you've done the math. Corsica is great for two players, Italy is great for 3 and the base map is great for 4-5. Just use whatever best suits your player count.
Only found your channel recently, been watching shitloads, and this archive footage shows how far you've come! Good work fella, keep it up.
F£&@ me that’s embarrassing
I got the digital version on the Nintendo Switch cuz of your review, and this is SUCH a well-designed game! You’re 100% on the money again, thank you!
Thanks for reviewing Concordia. I've had my eye on getting this one for years and your review was very helpful.

So love Concordia. I keep looking at the Salsa expansion. Perhaps I'll pick it up. Thanks.
Do it 😉
I didn't know Jason Stratham reviewed board games!
Kidding aside, great review - thank you!
Great review as always of a great game.

I noticed that your card is a bit too large for the plastic sleeve. Do you often have this problem?
Always…size matters
I'm curious to buy this but mostly play 2 player. How is it at 2 player?
Works great
