Hi, thanks for reviewing the game! A small thing - all the acrylic pieces have a layer of protective film on the "business" side. You've got the back side of the acrylic standees showing. Eventually, the film will peel off on its own but you can peel it off the standees (and the bases and the ability tokens) now to make things look awesome and match the art on the character cards. Secondly, I've played and playtested this game well over 100 times. There's often been a runaway laggard (usually to people who never want to play an otherwise suboptimal move to gain better player order) but never a runaway leader to the extent you mentioned. If this has happened more than once you might want to check the FAQ and errata on BGG to make sure you aren't playing a rule incorrectly. In particular, there is an unfortunate bit of iconography on the board in the form of the "no candy" icon. It doesn't mean you can't use the space with candy - it's just a flag that there is a special rule related to the space. Anyway, glad you found a few things to like and sorry it didn't tick all the boxes for you!
Hi Jackie. Thanks for your response. We peeled those layers off before playing so I’m not sure what you’re referring to with regards to the standees. I’m banned from BGG so won’t be able to look at the FAQ…how Raaaaawk 🤘but we didn’t play the game incorrectly. The rules are very simple so it’s almost impossible to make errors. Can I ask if there will be an expansion for the game? I’m sure there’s loads more thematic elements that can be added.
@@BoardGameBollocks I've designed an expansion that does something quite interesting to the songwriting and makes the game a lot more strategic. It's still in the unofficial stage and no one in the industry knows how our current tariff situation is going to affect production. I do think you will like the changes as they open the game up and add complexity. There is still some luck but you have more control over what to do about it.
I think any musicians who attempted to get a record deal would say that the scoring emulates life. One band makes it big and 10 others can’t get out of mom’s garage.

Played once and, as is becoming more frequent, came last. No not that FFS. Enjoyed it despite 2 players disappearing into the distance vp’s wise. They both consumed copious amounts of “candy” once they’d got a tape/record deal organised. Will play again

are some of the event cards much worse than others? I was thinking about maybe making sure the worst ones don't come out especially in the first few plays where it could ruin the game for newbies.
Think it would improve if some of the one-person-at-a-time places were multi. Especially when events close a gig,, maybe allowing a double header show in another location for example.
