What your not hearing from our local government
I just got out of a meeting where I was informed by someone in the Mayors office about developments that are being kept from the public. I am not a conspiracy theorist and I don’t want to make trouble but here’s what I’ve heard.
The amount of fatalities is expected to be more than 500 but less than 1000.
Many of the fatalities will be children who were at home because they canceled school. Parents worked and were not there to evacuate the children. Kids had no idea they needed to leave and by the time they noticed their homes or apartments were on fire, it was too late.
The government is worried about how we will react when we learn that the fire department left the fire earlier in the day and claimed it was 100% contained knowing that the winds were expected to be 70mph by the afternoon. This is against all fire control protocols. The fire department should not have left the original fire unattended. They are scared that the public calls for accountability will be more than they can control and protests and riots will occur.
They plan to lock down Lahaina for several months. It will take months to clean up the hazardous and environmental contamination. They won’t have enough housing for
    All the displaced.
There were 2,000 unaccounted for this morning. They have a list where they are trying to keep track. They found 700 today. But there are still 1300 missing.
They are very worried that the community is going to freak out when they find out how not a single fire truck responded to the fires. The emergency sirens were not activated (hurricane sirens) and loss of life could have been kept down by better emergency management which utterly failed.
I’m not trying to make waves or stir up problems but I was so angry and sad when I found out how many children are dead that I knew I had to post this and let everyone know what I have learned.
It’s time for our officials to stand up, tell the truth, and face the music. They failed Lāhainā guys. Our government is full of incompetent nepotism. The fire chief is the son of the former fire chief. We need to hold officials accountable for the mistakes they made.
Please don’t hate the messenger. I’m just relaying what I learned today.
God bless Maui and Lahaina! Pray for all the victims.

What would make it ignite like a tinder box? That isn't even normal. It wasn't that hot there. It isn't global warming. Did gas lines explode and catch fire? The whole city suddenly ignites which sounds very suspicious to me. A hundred people in the water but they only rescued 14?? How long did responders take to get there? Who sent the message out? Were the people sailing around in boats able to rescue anyone?

Love you from Santa Cruz. We had a firestorm in the CZU fire burned 917 family homes and the really disturbing thing people saw was the fire build up strength climbing up mountains. You would think it would go up and down one mountain and stop but it didn't the deep grade of our mountains helped the fire and embers flew like your fire to the next ridge point just zipping up and through canyons. Like the mountains create a funnel. We are a little town too and there is nothing so hard as seeing your home town in images from outer space with those mountains connected in one long blaze across ridge tops. Get mental health support. You are constantly in our prayers and actions.

@babskaz74 I figured it was intentional, on all the islands no doubt. I told my son in law it had to be intentional because all those islands don't burn at once unless there was some major volcanic eruption, as well the fires were done because whoever did it KNEW those hurricane force winds would be reaching the islands. I live in Southern Oregon, and we have had our share of wild fires. It's hard to believe that a tropical Island would be devastated by such a big fire. My prayers are with you. Hope you receive good instruction on safety and evacuation.

@@erickane7093 so sorry about the loss of lives I grieve for the people. Here in the West it not just about forests; its about towns, homes, shopping centers, and many dying from these fires during these past 10 plus years.
Thousand of buildings have been destroyed. Just like in Maui, people here in the western states have had to flee with little warning. I no longer feel safe because of the constant threat of fires. We are living in usual times and we have adjust accordingly.

I am very grateful for all the people of Maui! They are so supportive of each other. I couldn't be more upset with our Government's response. Do not believe what you are hearing on the news. Our government has very few boots on the ground. FEMA and the red cross are making it so much more difficult for volunteers. At the least, they need communication restored! (Starlink) We have failed them miserably!

Must be a 'early report' as the news is just reporting 36 deaths. Is now at 99+, and search teams say this is just the 'outside' count.
About 2000 islanders and guest are unaccounted for.
Look forward to seeing this number drop!

Our thoughts and prayers for the good people of Maui. Time for people around the globe to check their fire preparedness. El Ninio is here in Australia, and things are drying out fast. Droughts incoming. Very worried we are going to have very bad fires in the coming years in Australia. The idiots at the EPA have reduced the amount you are allowed to clear around your land boundary and around your house, so the vegetation and big trees are much closer now - and nothing you can legally do. Lots of dry fuel building up. Even a gentle breeze will allow a fire to easily jump fire breaks and containment lines. Thinking of building an underground shelter so I have a possible life line if I cannot get out.

The big kitchen table at the family farm was saved from the Great Chicago Fire. They were trapped. As the crowd began to burn they drove the horses and horse cart right into Lake Michigan. We were told they spent over 24 hours in the water. A boat rescued the kids and most the women. The men stayed with the goods and horses. Later they would be reunited. Thousands of people burned alive. Good luck to all of you.
