O ALMIGHTY Lord, and everlasting God, vouchsafe, we beseech thee, to direct, sanctify, and govern both our hearts and bodies, in the ways of thy laws, and in the works of thy commandments; that through thy most mighty protection, both here and ever, we may be preserved in body and soul; through our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
Thanks dear friend. All psalms are wonderful for any particular prayer or petition to God Almighty. However, psalms 145 to 150 exceptionally focus on the greatness and the awesomeness of our God. May the Lord bless David the king forever for presenting psalms to all mankind to worship God. Amen.
You probably dont care but if you are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown =)
I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. Today (September 22), we held a Stewardship of Creation service at Dreher Island State Park on Lake Murray. This was our Psalm of the Day.
There is no abbey at Bristol, so presumably the choir featured here is that of Bristol Cathedral. Quoting from Wikipedia: "Bristol Cathedral - official dedication The Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity - is the Church of England cathedral in the city of Bristol, England. Founded in 1140, it became the seat of the bishop and cathedral of the new Diocese of Bristol in 1542...."
Great choral discipline. Consonants crisp and clear, and vowels well shaped. Director must have been influenced by Boris Ord / Willcocks. How old is this recording?
Thanks a lot, I have seen Psalm 150 that you sent. I am very grateful for this. Just recently I thought I located Psalm 147, the version I was searching for that was probably done by this same wonderful choir, but couldn't see it again. Don't know what happened. In any case, I am still on the search for it and other wonderful chants. God bless you, Choralcathedral1.
hello there, im the choirster from st thomas cathedral kuching sarawak, malaysia....tis psalm a so nice to chanting...can any one from there send or email a copy of great anthem psalm for me....
Who composed this setting of Psalm 148? I have been watching youtube videos to help me learn more about Anglican chant...I'm very fascinated by it. Thanks so much for posting...this is marvelous!!!
@choirboyfromhell1 Thank you very much for the information. I hope I will get the MP3 one of these days in Dublin without prolonged search. I need the chants so much. Cheers.
A number of the cathedrals had been abbeys that,t the time of the dissolution, became simply diocesan cathedrals. Westminster did not become a cathedral, of course, since it is within the diocese of London; nor did Bath, whose cathedral is at Wells. The chapels royal are royal peculiars, and were so long before the time of Henry VIII.
Here's an idea. Instead of endlessly repeating the same psalm, why not chant psalms 148, 149, 150, and the Benedictus from Morning Prayer. One finds this practice in the old Benedictine rite for daily Lauds.
To the poster: could you please identify the music and choir when you post these excellent videos? Also please do not identify every Anglican church you have posted on You Tube as "Protestant". There are many Protestant denominations but Anglicans are not among them. The Anglican Church is a catholic (universal) church like the Greek Orthodox and Lutheran churches. But not "Roman" catholic. Thanks.
The English Reformers who wrote the Book of Common Prayer gave up their lives for denying transubstantiation and preaching justification by faith alone. All English monarchs since 1689 have sworn to protect the “Protestant and Reformed Faith”. And we called it the “Protestant Episcopal Church” in America until the 70s. Yes, the Anglo-Catholics are in the majority now, but don’t completely erase history. The Church of England and her daughter churches are historically Protestant.
Dr.Who1980 Productions Personality, I think Church of England is firmly a branch of one holy catholic and apostolic church, along with the Church of Rome and east churches and other apostolic churches, but not to protest any one in 21th century!

Splendid!
Other-Worldly, indeed! Thank you, Bristol Cathedral.
This chant is by Walmisley. One source for it is the Anglican Chant Psalter published by Church Publishing in New York. Pointing is different.

@gbolagun It's King's and it comes in a three-disc set from EMI (re-make from an analogue record). You can get it as an MP3 now.
❤️
Baloney. This is King's College singing Walmisley in A (pitched up a half step, the usual King's) from an EMI disc of 1989. Get your credits right.

Hw cn we get this canticles
Bristol doesn't have an Anglican Cathedral. Could it be Exeter? Bath has an Abbey which isn't too far away, but I don't think it is Bath.
It actually does! It is named Cathedral Church of the Holy and Undivided Trinity.
I thought all former abbeys belonged to the Royal Family, I know Westminster Abbey and the Abbey in Bath are Royal Peculiars.
Actually, Bath Abbey is a parish church of the Diocese of Bath and Wells, and not a royal peculiar

@poljghgf : Is not that 'par for the course'. Give the Anglican psalmody r r r rhythm of course !

this is very old- they sound even more amateur these days.

a bit jerky..
It NOT! a protestant Church. IT IS ANGLICAN IT NEITHER CATHOLIC, PROTESTANT NOR REFORMED BUT SIMPLY ANGLICAN!
Anglicans are Protestants you idiot.
Dr.Who1980 Productions This is controversial, many Anglicans don’t think they are Protestant, and hate t others to impose this word upon them.
