2017 Suburban. When I’m at a stop and then accelerate there is a clunk in the rear end area. Does it every time. I’m pulling the shaft, checking the joints, and lubricating the splines. Might as well do all that than guess and only lube the splines as recommended by dealer.
Yeah i did all that it never made a difference i have a 2021 F250 as well it does it too just not as bad these trucks were pretty bad the traction bars pretty much eliminated it.
Ray Santiago yeah it started at about 2000 miles for me the rough country traction bars make it a little better. They look awesome too and make this thing a animal from a dig. It still does it but I'm learning to ignore seems like there is no fix besides getting a built aftermarket trans and I'm not ready for that lol
MachineMatt is your clunking noise coming from near the output shaft on the trans when going from Park-to Drive-to-Reverse-to-Drive? I can also hear a clunk at low speed 15-30mph when I let off the gas then press the gas again.
@@Mr.Beastforpresident Had a few that did that, thought it was cured as my 16 was dead quiet, i could slam on the brakes then floor it...nothing. Just bought a 2020 hd gasser slowing down for turns then ease on the gas...clunk😬 Nothing makes you happier than 40k clunking.
@@Joel-ce4ih Funny because about the only silverado i had thad didnt clunk was a regular cab with drop shackles and pinion shims...couldnt make it clunk if i tried.
billcharlene1450 Damn... my 2008 HD gasser would do that sometimes. But it made it to 541,000+ miles 13,000+ engine hours on Original Engine and Transmission before losing compression on Cylinder 8 due to a either broken exhaust valve spring or a valve retainer came loose and bent, broke and dropped a valve
I have a 16, tried to do a burnout the other day and it felt like my whole rear end was jumping up and down, clunking like crazy. And it wasnt tire hop at all. Anybody have any clue? Pisses me off cause i know thats not right even if i was doing burnout.
It not the rear end making the noise it's the front end and when I backup it make the noise and when I turn... Sound like something is loose 2004 Chervlet Suburban
Tried a burnout the other day in my 16, wasnt tire hop it felt like the axle was slamming up and down, hard clunks. Pissed me off cause i know its not right at all
The rough country traction bars helped out alot on this, the only downfall i have with them is they made alot of creaking noises so i had to grease the hell out of them and now the paint is flaking off. Other than that well worth the money to get rid of this noise
rive5228 My 2018 4.3 has a clunk too when shifting from Park-to-Drive-to-Reverse etc and at low speeds ( 10-30 mph ) when I let off the gas pedal and press it again
Anyone know of any other 2014-2018 drive shaft clunk videos? Mine does it when shifting from Drive to Reverse or vise-versa. 1 piece aluminum driveshaft. Under the truck you can hear the clunk coming from near the output shaft on the trans when shifting from Park-to-Drive-to-Reverse-to-Drive
I have a 17 as well. Mine has a vibration when i hammer the gas, but not on a slow acceleration, only heavy. Dealer blames my 6" lift, but it just started doing this, Ive had the lift for a year. Does yours vibrate on a hard launch ?

I got the same thing! I can feel it in my cab too. It started recently.

I have a 2016 6.0 Silverado it clunks and shit when downshifting at slow speeds. ???
Did you ever get it figured out? Or do you know if it’s a big deal?

i think the axle is moving free of the u bolts..id try and get some friction in between there maybe aftermarket u-bolts tightened to shit

I have a 2004 2500 non hd silverado.. can i order 2500 hd traction bars and install em on my frame or is the hd frame wider?

Ever made a video with the traction bars installed?
No but I will
Did you do it? Or is the truck still around?
Starts around 10,000 miles I got it too
that lays pretty good rubber - 6.2????
Nope 5.3 with a tune
iv broke two drive shafts in half and how not sure just did a full rebuild frount to back
Is it stock? Sounds like you have a turbo @ 0:55
No not yet it was just tuned at the time, i do have a on3 turbo kit in my garage ready to install though.
same just started with mine 2017 4x4 4.3 single cab dealer is no help so far apparently normal escalating to gm canada now see what happens
rive5228 let me know if you have any luck I hate it but I'm just going to have to ignore it other than that it's a great truck

It’s the slip yoke all of them do it
Yup take out and grease the splines

Im having the same issue on my 2018. Reverse to drive or drive to reverse, it’s a hard grinding noise. Did you ever fix the issue ?
Have 2017 Silverado with a 4” lift. Put a BDS traction bar on it. Rides lot better from when I had it. Any traction bar would solve that problem.
Yeah I actually have one now it helps doesn't get rid of it completely
MachineMatt that’s crazy. Not sure where else would be coming from. Good luck and hopefully you figure it out.
I couldn't find one that fit my
1500 Silverado. Any tips?

No it doesn't vibrate I'm not sure what that would be I would check to make sure everything is tight in the rear from the 6" lift
Had a 16 that i put lowering shackles on and it vibrated until adding pinion shims.
Ok so the wheel is attached to the axle and not soposed to come of in my hand I guess I pulled a batmobile
No wonder it clunks the way you abuse the sob
Lol
Those are some seriously wimpy springs.
Same with my 2012 f150
My truck has a click not sure about axle wrap but it drives me nuts. Makes me hate this truck!!!
Yeah at this point I've learned to ignore it. Other then that I love the truck.
@@mAtThR3w wish I could learn to do the same! My rig is a 14 6.2 crew with tow 0ack and long bed
@@TuneInBurnOutTV I thought I'd never learn because noises always bugged me with my previous vehicles
Mine has a weird click and a clunk
The 1st to 2nd click?
Every 14 and up i drove has it
