    One thing (or Blunder) you forgot to mention was that as a result of Jarrett's Guitar shot, Kevin Nash believed he was Commisioner Gordon and he spent the 23/02/2000 episode of Thunder trying to contact Batman. (He only succeeded in contacting Ralphus).
    And no, i am not making this up.

    A bonus Blunder Point for the way Bret Hart "regained" the WCW Title during the reveal of nWo 2000: By Roddy Piper pinning Goldberg.
    Seriously, when you watch the footage you see Piper cover Goldberg, clearly to protect him, and for whatever reason the referee counts it like a pin, all while Bret looks on in utter confusion. Obviously, Piper jumped the gun & shielded Goldberg before Bret actually made the pin, but the fact that the ref essentially just went "F It!", counted it as though it was a pin, & awarded the match & title to Bret, when Piper was the one making the "cover", is an all time WCW Blunder. At that point just call it as a no contest, have Bret say the next week (or even on Thunder) that he never actually vacated the title to begin with, and that it was all just a ruse to mess with Goldberg & Piper.

    Jeff Jarrett was simply not a main event level talent. He was a (really) good in-ring worker and he was as smooth as anyone between the ropes.
    But he simply didn't connect on a personal level. The guitars, I feel, really didn't help. They just kept reminding us of him being 'Double J'.

    • @ryankeefe2102
      @ryankeefe2102 Місяць тому +5

      I can't stand Jeff Jarrett
      I mean yes bell to bell he's good. That's it. Mid card on his best day but when he his daddy or his buddy Vince Russo was writing the show suddenly he's a top guy
      And hes been able to now stay employed because he ran a few spot shows in a dying Memphis territory

    • @steampunker7
      @steampunker7 Місяць тому +3

      Yeah, that was always my read on Jarrett. No slouch in the ring and not horrible on the mic. But he always seemed to be trying too hard to pull heat or be taken seriously. His bravado felt forced and, as a heel, he projected neither menace nor real cunning. From what I've seen, maybe he might have worked better if they had pushed him as bland but solid face. Leaned into the good ol' boy vibe he had with cowboy gimmick. Either that or give him a small stable of lackies to boss around and try to play up his loud mouth antics. That's my thought at least.

If WCW were smart they'd have brought back the Hart foundation you could have added a formation of guys like DDP/Savage and Sting. What also didn't make sense was Savage joining the nWo yeah I know he had been a heel most of his career but it never made sense to me that he'd join forces with Hogan. Blunder : Making Bret fake an injury in a story line, when he was injured.
    Blunder : Making Jeff Jarrett wrestle 3 matches, twice. Less Slapnuts, Not more.

    I think the NWO Elite was the worst it was confusing Red and white. Now NWO 2000 I like the story that led up to it being formed. The problem was just way to many injuries happen with Hart,Jarrett,Hall and Nash all going down. Their top opponent also injured himself. This month was totally snake bitten in WCW if you think about it January 2000.

    The 2002 nWo faction was the worst. It was exciting for a month but it went nowhere once they turned Hogan face. I’m also in the boat that heel Jeff Jarrett was amazing in WCW. 🤷🏿‍♂️

    What’s crazy about the NWO 2000 formation is that Roddy piper is shown covering Goldberg during that Nitro Main event not Bret Hart - the referee gets up after his bump and counts 123 as Hart is standing up - the whole formation was literally botched

    Next blunder episode - cover the missed opportunities of stunning steve austin, cactus jack and Mean mark callis. Cover some matches they should have won, pushes that were cancelled etc. These are three of the four main attitude era wwf guys that really pushed wwf ahead of wcw - and they were all guys that left wcw with a chip on their shoulder because of their treatment there.

    Actually, Willy Wigberg did have a little pipe concealed in his hand. The first window was gimmicked. However, the second one was not.
    You know that he has a pipe concealed in his hand by how he hits the window that is not gimmicked. Just go ahead and try breaking a legit car window with nothing but your hand, mate. If you want to have any chance at all, then you cannot hit it with the SOFTEST part of your hand, I assure you. And that would be what Wee Willy would've been hitting it with, had he not had a pipe concealed in his hand. Also, if he somehow managed to break a legit car window by hitting it with the softest part of his hand and with no pipe, then the glass would've shattered in a much wider pattern and it wouldn't have gotten punctured in the tiny area that it did.

    Your laments about 1999-2000 WCW inspired me to do a Journey of Wrestling simulation where i took over WCW in January 2000. You'll be happy to know that it is now September 2000 and NWO 2000 is the most over heel group in wrestling. Scott Steiner took over the group and has held the WCW title for eight months. He just won a feud over a returning Bret Hart. NWO 2000 defeated The Revolution and Bret Hart in a Wargames match where the losing faction had to disband. You'll also be happy to know I am pushing Steven Regal, La Parka, and David Flair to the moon. And just last month, we took the lead again from WWF in the Monday Night Wars.
    I just wanted you to know I'm doing my part to try and salvage late-era WCW.
