  • Highlights from the Christmas day session...
It took me more than 3 hours to find the fish :) but then I had plenty of fun on the light gear.
Weather, especially wind was close to 30 knots from the side so I couldn't use anything light.
But then, conditions changed, slack water and close to no wind, just a little rain.
So casted the first time with my present combo, aji do 682M and Ultegra 1000.
The first cast the first fish, pollock around 35cm...
Then it just got better and better :)
    Gear used:
Major craft aji do 682M 5g
    Shimano ultegra 1000
    Daiwa J x8 0.06 9pounds
    Triline 0,35mm leader
    3,5g jig head homemade.
    Ali express floatex lure

From what you said at the end of the video I'm just going to have to experiment cuz it depends what the fish are taking on the day, sometimes I've had to use tiny river spinners in deep water like you were fishing but by dropping to a tiny lure the fish build confidence. Great video, take care tight lines 🤞

Yes super light, and sensitive but still has a lot of backbone. I also bought the H version, should have it tomorrow :)

I bought some of those lead jig heads do you think they would hook fish on a 5 inch rubber sandeel or would you cut the eels down a few inches?? I just don't want to miss fish cuz the hook is set too high but I haven't had chance to use them so what do you reckon? I can only use 28g heads otherwise it just looks too big and nothing like an eel but that's just from messing with them at home, 28g would be max weight anyway in the area I fish 🐟

Generally, for pollock you can leave it 5 inches, I often used more than 3/4 of the lure without the hook.
Makes for a more natural presentation.
On the other hand, if you would be getting too many bites and you cannot hook the fish, I would then shorten the lure.
But honestly, pollock over 2-3 pounds will get 5-inch lure in mouth straight away and at least it won't be hooked very deep.
Hope it helps :) thanks for watching
