Here where I live in the US shopping malls have pretty much died out. There are a few shopping centers around but they are pretty spread out. Not like when I grew up with the big indoor malls. Russell, did you manage to survive all the cakes unscathed ?

loved visiting GUM when i was in Moscow. Shopped a lot and enjoyed food and drinks!
It's an amazing place.
I went here a few times when I was collaborating on research at Moscow State University, nice place! SUPER nice bathrooms, weird thing to think about but they were some of the nicest and cleanest bathrooms I ever visited. Not sure if they still have it, but previously the bathrooms had free disposable combs, toothbrush and toothpaste, floss, hair gel, mouth wash, and mints. Did you visit the soviet style canteen? Interesting historical eatery!!!

As a Russian born in Moscow, I must say that, as a child, if my parents brought me there, I’d get that famous ice cream. Otherwise, I loved visiting quite nearby Children’s World. And they too had that famous ice cream. When I got teenage-I loved to visit GUM for its architecture and flavor.

The modern centers are nice, but GUM is in it's own class. It has real "character". Beautiful building and shops. Love the food offerings. The closing view down the lighted street was excellent. Enjoyed this vlog. Yes more like it.

That ice cream stand looks very appetising! The mall itself looks more like Italian style baroque theatre. The size of this luxury shop is epic! I was going to comment that I've seen something similar in Italy, but in Italy such arcades are much smaller. This store is most likely something very unique to Russia.
Так он и построен в конце девятнадцатого века😂, просто его отреставрировали , но там абсолютно всё дорого , большинство ходит как в музей , ну кроме знаменитого , московского мороженого😂, кстати его история тоже длинная 😂, приезжайте в гости к нам и будем рады 💖вам , будем дружить 🤝😂
Этот магазин был построен до революции купцом Елисеевым поэтому он назывался Елисеевским
Была в июле в гостях у сестры, зашли в ГУМ, я даже не стала заходить куда-то😅 даже на мороженое и то очередь была такая, что если бы оно стоило 20 руб., я бы туда не встала😁

The Christmas season is worth waiting for to visit. Fantastic decorations everywhere, not too cold - but you might see some snow.
It's pretty nice, great restrooms, awesome restaurants. There is one that is styled like a soviet era canteen. Serving popular foods from soviet times. It was pretty interesting, worth a visit I think.

Почти везде на улицах полно удобных скамеек, где пожилой гражданин может пристроить свою усталую задницу. Здесь надо место для отдыха толкать перед собой -- называется оно роллятор. Можно ещё присесть отдохнуть на мусорный бак.
