I had a black history month pep rally today at school and a beautiful black women sang this song and the whole school was singing with her she had such amazing voice something I will remember forever.❤
This song may have been intended to talk about Harriet Tubman. However, I think it’s fabulous that everyone is seeing their own interpretations in it. They may not be the original interpretation, but I love seeing the people in the comments saying “Free Palestine” “End police brutality” “Women’s rights” If you can draw strength from this song, and apply it to the things you believe are important, that’s wonderful.
@@TracieLavern-m7j just so you know, palestinians and arabs and black people have been living peacefully together for centuries. white people are lying and saying that us arabs hate black people. in our countries (arab countries) black people are leaders, they are so important. we live in peace.
She is so powerful! The school next to mine did this at a choir concert and I got chills! It was beautiful representation and I love that they included it. Both Cynthia and the students voice were so powerful
Harriet earned the name Moses as a tribute to her bravery, audacity and willpower. During her many missions to rescue 70 slaves, she depended on God's support and guidance through her prayers and visions. As we watched the closing credits, we thought of Harriet's speech and her final encounter with the plantation owner's who for years has been on a crusade to capture, torture and kill her.
Harriet Tubman held tightly to God, and He saw her through. Hold steady to God as He takes hold of your hand and your life. Do not fear, He will help you.
I think people forget that due to the first sin God doesn’t just solve all the problems in the world 😐 that was essentially the garden of Eden but after Adam and Eve were cast out of there the world was no longer like that. Yes God is Great but he doesn’t just take away all suffering and pain from the world. That only comes when the second coming occurs. At the end of the day bad things still happen in the world but when we trust in God he can get us through them. Also it’s pretty disrespectful to call God “sky daddy” if you don’t believe in God fine but please don’t disrespect my God like that it’s pretty rude. Harriet was also deeply inspired and beloved in God. A lot of what she did, freeing the slaves, was inspired by reading learning about Moses in the Bible and how he brought his people to freedom.
Cynthia Ervio sings in the chorus, alluding to Harriet Tubman's struggles and unwavering spirit. Academy Award nominated actress Cynthia Ervio manages to do so with every part of her soul, bringing the same level of passion and commitment she brings to her role as Harriet Tubman.

I been walkin'
With my face turned to the sun
Weight on my shoulders
A bullet in my gun
Oh, I got eyes in the back of my head
Just in case I have to run
I do what I can when I can while I can for my people
While the clouds roll back and the stars fill the night
That's when I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going
To a brand new home
Far across the river
Can you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I can feel it in my bones
Early in the mornin'
Before the sun begins to shine
We're gonna start movin'
Towards that separating line
I'm wadin' through muddy waters
You know I got a made up mind
And I don't mind if I lose any blood on the way to salvation
And I'll fight with the strength that I got until I die
So I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going
To a brand new home
Far across the river
Can you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
And I know what's around the bend
Might be hard to face 'cause I'm alone
And I just might fail
But Lord knows I tried
Sure as stars fill up the sky
Stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going
To a brand new home
Far across the river
Can you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going
To a brand new home
Far across the river
Do you hear freedom calling?
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I'm gonna stand up
Take my people with me
Together we are going
To a brand new home
Far across the river
I hear freedom calling
Calling me to answer
Gonna keep on keepin' on
I can feel it in my bones
