- Today was all about local WARUNGS!
After watching a beautiful sunrise, I headed over to Nasi Campur Weti to eat at this legend of a warung. With locals lined up far with over 30 minutes until open! I didn’t have to wait too long as I was dining in, but I will say...I would have waited an hour for that nasi campur. What a LEGEND.
Next up and only a short 20 minute walk away, was Mak Beng. This place only does a few things, fried fish and fish head soup. However, for good reason as they are doing these two dishes superbly.
After this I headed for some Lawar, but lawar you really will not find much of in Bali, beef lawar! This place was almost as much fun to eat at, as it was to watch the people fixing plates and to go wraps at incredible speeds!
I decided to take a break and enjoy the sweeter side of Bali. I went for a Balinese pancake known as laklak. A coconut milk, rice flour, and a dash of salt batter fried up in a cast iron skillet and high heat. Shredded coconut and pandan sugar made the perfect topping.
Lasty, I went for babi guling, but got denied as this warung had stopped selling it! However, I got to really enjoy a nasi campur loaded up with ayam and babi dishes which felt like a lovely home cooked meal. Not to mention the awesome sambal and amounts the lady gave me!

Max deserves to be as popular as Mark Wiens, Mikey Chen (Strictly Dumpling), The Food Ranger, and Sonny (TBEFRS). I mean the quality of content, his personality, and the way he describes food shows his passion. He's on par with them. Heck, even his spice tolerance compares to Mark Wiens and Mikey lol. I hope his channel gains more popularity and success in the future.

If you’re still in Bali, I very strongly recommend you to go eat at Kaum in Seminyak. Kaum is the Indonesian restaurant at Potato Head Beach Club. I know that it sounds like the last place you would ever think of when looking for authentic Indonesian food, but it is absolutely anything but that.
Kaum is one of the best Indonesian restaurants in all of Bali and specialises in dishes from almost every single region across Indonesia. Imagine all the different sambals you can find there! Not to mention, they’ve got incredibly unique and traditional cocktails made with exotic fruits.
Please go to Kaum at Potato Head before you leave Bali. It is one of the few restaurants whose flavours and authenticity to traditional Indonesian cooking I can attest to as a Balinese.
Ahhhh, if I was there you know I would go! Unfortunately I am not there anymore though! If I ever go back, this will be one of the first places I go!
Also try having dinner at Bambu in Seminyak as well as Nusantara by Locavore and Hujan Locale in Ubud if you feel like splurging a little ;)
For some more street food fair, definitely hit up Babi Guling Pak Dobil in Nusa Dua as well as Warung Wardani (They’ve got a branch in Denpasar and one nearby Ngurah Rai Airport) and Nasi Ayam Kedewatan Ibu Mangku in Ubud.
So which do you like better, sunrise or sunset? The nasi campur looked really scrummy! I must admit when last I had this dish ages ago, it was in Manila (and it was a vegetarian version). I envy you! Ok, do tell, was there raw blood in the lawar and were you truly up for it? :) Hold on, I don't believe I saw a leaf-wrapped tum on your plate. Did you have some? Haha, the pooch didn't leave you be until your plate was empty. I think you woke up his appetite ... and roused ours too. The video was amazeballs! It does not come as a surpise that in a matter of 3 days you have gained another 1k subscribers.
hmmm, I like to watch sunset more, but I am always up and working during sunrise. Yes, I would eat raw blood lawar. I have had other raw blood dishes before. haha I fed the pup just a little bit! Thank you, I am so happy to see this family grow!
Damn it! I just got back from Bali and stayed in Sanur and Seminyak. How did I miss the Nasi Campur (mixed rice) from such a great warung in Sanur. Hey brother, if you can slow down on showing the names of places or put them in comments section, that would be very cool.

We stayed in Sanur before going to Nusa Penida and Mak Beng was highly recommended!!! We ate dinner, and another one for breakfast before hopping on a boat to Nusa P. As always, your videos are giving a serious hit in the nostalgia room hahaha! 🙌

Omg I just watch the sun rise with you. Love your blog and now for more food eating...yum. Street food is awesome with wide selection. Balinese champore delicious and spicy. Okay I’m Balinese and literally will subscribe you dude and you’re ate like balinese love sambal and pork 🍽 and yeah if you visit bali again please try traditional seafoods at lebih beach or try more traditional cake or balinese vegetables food for your heath but don’t worry the taste same like another balinese food.

I found Manadonese (North Sulawesi province) and Medanese (North Sumatera) food are much much suitable for my palate than Balinese food. Manadonese spicy food are some of the best for sure. The only Balinese food i really like are Balinese suckling pig, Balinese grill pork ribs, and Balinese pork satay. Btw, new subs here!
