I rode my brothers 06 (I believe) Road King about a week ago and immediately fell in love with it. He's talking about selling it and I would absolutely LUV to buy it from him! It's heavier than my Yamaha Venture but it feels' much easier to maneuver....
Thanks for pointing out the differences. I have been wanting to know that. I really like the RK platform. I/m a windscreen guy. Don't like fairings, don't like electronic gadgets.

I just updated my Harey Road King Evo 1998. Stage 1, upgraded cam, and true dual exhaust. I also put on a "reach seat" which helps a lot when your 66 years old.
Appreciate your honest opinion, not to mention your wonderful advice on riding in other vids! I ride a 2012 Electra Glide Ultra Limited....you have convinced me to try a 2017+. Thanks.
This is another example of what this iconic company has done absolutely right. The Road King! Absolutely beautiful motorcycle Jerry. The Road King whether in Standard or Special trim is arguably the best looking Harley Davidson in the whole Motor CO’s line up and the line up is deep with beauty. Man your Road King is beautiful. Did I mention that? Wow! Ride safe and ride often. Life’s short, just buy the bike.
My '18 Road King handles the curves very well for being a heavy cruiser. I live close to Deal's Gap (The Dragon). I've had fun on that road with my RK. It's the standard, with a Stage 2.
IVE owned 3 roadkings in the last 25 years....a 98 classic...an 07 police trade in...and currently a 2012 police trade in....the only mods i made to the police bikes were a stage 1 kit....truedual exhaust.....thundermax tuner .. quick release tourpak and upgraded lighting...ill be keeping the 2012 for a long time.....at least i can work on it if need be
I’ve been thinking of trading my TK for a RK but I’m going to wait until after my two month tour of the US. Love that naked classic look and I rarely use my Boom stereo, wife thinks it’s just noise and interferes with the hum of the motor. 😎
What a Beautiful Bike And Everybody I Ask That Owns A Road King Says its Their Favorite Harley.....That Alone Says A Lot.....Thanks Jerry For Ride Along.
I have a 2017 Road King with 16 inch rear wheel and 17 inch front. In my opinion the Road King handles better than the 2008 1200 low I had. My Road King is so smooth and very well balanced. The full lock position on mine comes a long way around. When I try a full lock turn from a stop it take a lot to keep the bike from tipping over. My 2017 weights in at 820 pounds. I love the way this bike handles. Very responsive.
Nice review Motorman, love that bike...back in 2004 I had a 2003 Road King FLHP, one of the best bikes I ever owned, it was a 88 Twin Cam, great bike...The only thing I didn't care for were those hockey puck knobs on the saddle bags, just because of the way they looked, otherwise they worked well.
Nice ride great review. The Road King is the best. Also a honest review of that helmet, I always stick with Shoei for their sizing, quality and love the comfort.
Just give the folks that complain about the wind noise a refund, easiest way to get them out of your hair! ;-) Agree with you on standing out with the brake lights. I installed an LED bulb that had built-in flashing (3x3 flashes, then solid) on the brake on my previous bike. I certainly noticed a difference in my rear view mirrors and I'm a firm believer!
I like that color. I would like to see in person in the sun. Helmet sounds good on video I can hear a little more wind noise at speed but it isn't bad on UA-cam.
Thanks for the gear info. I also have a hero 7 and the Purple Panda mic, just can't get it to work with the Go Pro. I'm glad your's works. Audio was good.
Great review. My second time around. Loved the derailed comparisons between PD vs Civilian, 107 vs 114, the RK standard vs the Special, and comparisons to other H-D touring models on weight,, lean angles, etc. I love my 2013 Anniversary RK, but I am thinking a 2020 would be a nice step up to the latest HD technology.
Enjoy all your awesome videos! RK is my favorite and looking to own. I read many good things about the M8 and a small but notable mention that there's a loss of oil or a bad pump on some. Any thoughts?
I traded my H-D Streetbob for a 2020 Road King last month. Definitely the best motorcycle I’ve ever ridden. I do a lot of highway riding and this eats up the miles in total comfort. Handles way better than I thought it would. It’s more nimble than my Streetbob was. I’m from Northern California with a lot of winding roads and the RK handles it like a champ. If anyone is looking for a heavyweight cruiser, this is THE bike to get
I've ridden a variety of motorcycles over the past 45 years but nothing better than my 2015 Road King. Purchased in January 2020 with only 5000 miles. Even a 2.5 hour ride seems short!

Wipe out with a convertible you're usually not stopping your forward momentum with your face. Nose to chin is the highest % impact zone in a motorcycle accident. Just sayin.
they put the tach on the tank and speedo on the bars. I put a police tach on my 03 RK. the gauges match and i replaced the wrinkle black tach bracket with a chrome Sportster bracket. I also 95ci motor with cam ported heads and exhaust 100hp 107lbft and i think its perfect. I only get off it every 200 miles to put gas in it. Still gets 40mpg.
Jerry I did make the same mistake as you by buying the bilt helmet setup for me and my wife. My money would have been better spent buying two HJC or Shoie helmets and put the newer popular sena on them. The road King is a nice motorcycle if you like a more nimble bike or you can learn to ride your ultra or street glide and maneuvering it is no problem. Maybe take your class. Stay safe
Great video I'm looking for a Harley I commute an hour each way that you will recommend the road King I love all you videos of learning so much keep up the great work
I have always been intrigued by the Road King, but I don't think I would ever purchase one. I just can't justify the $20,000 price tag for the type of riding that I do which is just riding around town. Would love to test ride one, though! Now, if H-D comes out with a Bronx 750 at a reasonable price; I would definitely be interested.
I don’t know if you heard, Harley’s in HUGE trouble, mass produced bikes, old timers not buying such a heavy bike and passing away. Clothing line high dollar, dealerships attitudes on potential customers. They spent a lot of development money for the live wire and that’s on hold. There’s a couple of bikes introduce 3, 4 years ago to get the young buyer, it has not proved well for all the development monies invested. Happy motoring Ps I’m between new and used, alway love the classic look, but recently been looking at Street Glide. We’ll see.
If I was going to add a fairing I would just trade the road king in and by an ultra . Definitely like the road king for night riding with its light bar .
Jay Q have you priced putting a good fairing and paint on a road king lately? I know someone that just did it matching the blue paint of his bike . And just a radio and two speakers . He’s got $2K into it and it’s still a road king 2010 I believe.

Would the handlebar pullback position be comfortable for someone at 5'8" tall? Great review, it has me interested in a Road King, which would be great for rides on Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu.
Great review,if you have a chance do you know what specific windshield your bike has.Not really a fan of the egg shaped shield the 22 models have .Your shield is more rectangular as I'm sure you're aware of. Thanks for sharing Takecare
I see u have the speedo up on the bars .. Is that a police version feature? I imagine it’s for when pacing a car to get their speed (harder to do when Speedo is on the tank
Such a pity harley davidson has decided to discontinue the road king. 2023 was the year I was gonna purchase one. I realise the RK special is still available and it's a beautiful bike and has the 114 but I can't ride without a windshield and although the special doesn't come with one you can buy and fit an after market one but the bike looks terrible with the shield
One correction sir the police version and the civilian version have the same exact wheels and tire size is the same. 16in rear love your videos and your king is nice 👍
Jerry goodmorning I went from dirt bikes to street bobs. Do you still enjoy and like this bike? I love the looks of this bike. I'm just intimidated by the size.
If you know the proper techniques you can handle a Road King or any size bike, like a toy. If you try to muscle a heavy weight motorcycle around, then you're in trouble. ua-cam.com/video/XYBwjx8dwoU/v-deo.html
Jerry. I just bought a 2022 RK and absolutely love it. It's my first HD coming over from BMW Sport Touring bikes. I noticed the speedo on the handlebars. Is that stock on the police version? If not, where did you get it? Thanks, John
Anyone know what the speedo gauge is and how it mounts on the steering head? It looks like the one I have on my Sportster.. About the only flaw with the RK is that you have to take your eyes off the road for a second to see it.

That's a stock windshield I just cut down to the height I wanted. Here's how I did it. ua-cam.com/video/5HlELVT8S9M/v-deo.html
@@motorman857 Thank for letting me know. Takecare
I have a 18 rk stage 2 luv it
I see u have the speedo up on the bars ..
Is that a police version feature?
I imagine it’s for when pacing a car to get their speed (harder to do when Speedo is on the tank
Yes, this is a police Road King.
2020 has the updated oil pump
Did they update the oil pump on the 2020 RK?
It is a noisy helmet, but we find it does work at speed. Hardly a better safety feature than another set of eyes and a communication system.
Thanks for the review.
Have you ever reviewed the softail models? I would be very interested & value your opinion.
Cheers from down under.🇦🇺

Good set up. Showing your head moves is brilliant. See if you can sync up your cameras with some timecode for editing.
I put a tachometer on my Road king just because . Does it come standard on a police bike ?
Came standard on mine in 02
It's standard on the police R/K.
I have a 2017 roadking police and mine has a 107 Milwaukee
Sounds likes a good option for a bike. Did you have the the oil sump issue?
One correction sir the police version and the civilian version have the same exact wheels and tire size is the same. 16in rear love your videos and your king is nice 👍
Jerry goodmorning
I went from dirt bikes to street bobs.
@@motorman857 Thank you
Jerry. I just bought a 2022 RK and absolutely love it. It's my first HD coming over from BMW Sport Touring bikes. I noticed the speedo on the handlebars. Is that stock on the police version? If not, where did you get it? Thanks, John
Stock on Police bikes.
Anyone know what the speedo gauge is and how it mounts on the steering head? It looks like the one I have on my Sportster.. About the only flaw with the RK is that you have to take your eyes off the road for a second to see it.
The speedometer comes stock on RK/police bikes.
@@motorman857 ah, ok, thanks Jerry
How do you feel about the cable clutch vs hydronic clutch for low speed maneuvers?
I like the cable clutch better because I can adjust it to grab where I want.
@@motorman857 got it that’s what I thought. Thank you!
I just went from a scout bobber to a Springfield dark horse. I suck with it. Help 🤐🤐
