    This is an incredible display of adding an immense amount of depth to the Aikido art. Very impressive. And to those people that say try it on a non willing opponent or it won't work.... You're clueless. There are techniques that will work on most and on some it won't, that's why you keep fighting and never quit. Combat is all about adapting to the situation as it comes. The best defense is preventing the fight verbally all together. Talking your way out of situations and controlling your ego is the highest and most toughest art out there. Just saying. 🤷🏽‍♂️

      I don't train in Aikido. I'm sure you aren't qualified to critique it either. The bullshitto is your ignorance of traditional martial arts. I train for modern combat and every art has it's purpose even in today's world. It is your understanding of the concepts of the art. The depths of the techniques. What you see is content that is an attention grabber, flashy. Real combat isn't flashy. It's dirty and sloppy at times. I'm not delusional. I'm practical and humble. Unless you are at this Sensei's level of training, you aren't qualified to call it bullshit

    • @Hevanz07
      @Hevanz07 5 років тому +15

      Hey man you do you. Those who think they are the shit are usually not and have to be loud to compensate for the little pee pee they have. It's ok man. You don't know my background of training. These who are great fighters respect others. If you were truly as good as you say you are, you would understand that this video is no where near the speed of the true technique nor the true application for the protection of the partner taking the technique. But hey, you are the expert. Maybe you should start your own channel and do videos showing how good you are, since you are the man that knows everything.

      So true. I took 7 years of Aikido. Stopped. Then went into arts involving striking and other joint locks. I still use Aikido for entering and blocking as well as randori. Still prefer ura over irimi so that I can avoid the opponents weapons (hands, elbows, knees, kicks). I'm finding the striking arts I now study do not take into account the opponents reply.

    I am but a BJJ white belt, but here is my attempt to name these:
    0:09 - 0:12 unknown
    0:12 - 0:15 reverse seoinage (if done with double lapel grips, these are often known as Korean seoinages)
    0:15 - 0:17 kata eri seoinage
    0:17 - 0:22 2x reverse seoinages (with strange grips/entry)
    0:22 - 0:28 kata guruma
    0:29 - 0:31 yoko hikikomi gaeshi
    0:31 - 0:34 kani basami
    0:34 - 0:48 leg lace tomoenage (a legit sweep from BJJ open guard)
    0:48 - 1:03 kotegaeshi? (I don't know aikido, help me name this!) to rolling omoplata
    1:03 - 1:12 kotegaeshi? defense to yoko wakare
    1:12 - 1:20 shihonage with osoto guruma/gari
    1:20 - 1:36 iriminage with osoto guruma/gari
    1:36 - 1:42 "pulling guard but its an armbar instead"
    1:42 - 1:54 flying armbars
    1:54 - 1:57 "pulling guard but its a belly down armbar instead"
    1:57 - 2:09 gokyo shoulder pin to daki wakare (turtle turnovers)
    2:09 - 2:12 unknown
    2:12 - 2:25 morote gari defense to daki wakare (turtle turnovers)
    2:25 - 2:42 flying rolling armbars
    2:42 - 2:45 reverse kani basami?
    2:45 - 2:55 kotegaeshi with an aerial cartwheel
    2:55 - 2:59 iriminage/osotogari hybrid?
    Any input is welcome! Train hard!

      This is old, but this is a great take from the video. Much appreciated. But I really am trying to figure something out now. How could the 2:45 kotegaeshi with an aerial cartwheel work if twisted in the opposite direction? Or maybe for some other reason could that not work? In addition to me being curious about that fact, it's also because it's extremely fancy for a fighting move. Anyone know if this performance is accurate?

      Every art works for exactly what it is designed for. Most people neglect to remember or never knew that Aikido was primarily created to fight against an opponent wielding a sword. That is why 90 percent of the movements are focused on grabbing the hands. If you come at an Aikidoka with a sword or knife and slash at them you will find yourself on the ground in a lot of pain and probably have your own sword at your throat. In a modern street fight though it’s not real effective against a lot of things. It’s good though, and yes it is effective in a street fight and can work especially against someone untrained. It’s definitely better than having no training.

      @@jammyface3041 LMFAO. Good luck then fighting against a Brazilian Jiu JItsu Black Belt

    • @jammyface3041
      @jammyface3041 4 роки тому +3

      Pátria Amada Brasil Brazilian jiu-jitsu is another one that’s great, but incomplete, and has the priorities mixed up. If you put a BJJ black belt into a true Japanese full contact Jujutsu competition they will do ok, but get creamed in not too long. People leave those competitions with broken bones, bloody faces, broken nose, and concussions. In a street fight when a BJJ practitioner is on top of someone choking them or arm barring them, their homie comes and cuts their throat. Jiu Jitsu came from the battlefield and is brutal. It’s self defense. 95 percent of BJJ out there now is sport, and will get someone killed in a street fight. And the 5 percent that do teach self defense is extremely expensive for no reason other than the name on the dojo and it’s still teaching an incomplete Brazilian system. I’m a 5 year blue coming up on my purple in Japanese Goshin Ryu Jujutsu. We train buttloads on the ground but with the true Japanese mentality that the ground can mean death so we need to be better than the other guy so we can get up as quickly as we can. We don’t want to be on the ground in a fight. True Jujutsu doesn’t strive to take it to the ground like BJJ. Even Judo is more effective in that sense because of their focus and mentality. In my dojo we also train with knives, guns, multiple attackers, and we do plain clothes classes too. You don’t see that in 95 percent of BJJ dojo’s. So, returning to my original statement, every art works for what it is designed for. If I wanted to win a wrestling competition with only one opponent and no weapons I would train in BJJ. It dominates on the ground, no argument there. In a street fight it is like Aikido where it can work and is better than not knowing anything at all, but not very effective. But actually it puts the person in more danger than Aikido because the Aikidoka wants to stay standing. The ground means death in real life. In a fight, you stay on your feet if at all possible. If you go down, get back up ASAP.

    Yes this is all "cooperative training" but it's still pretty cool! I love how he goes straight into the submission instead of following the "gain position, then submission" formula. Yes this is harder to pull off, but if you can do that you end the fight faster. I especially love the sequence at 2:18 of sprawl into an alligator roll into a flip to take the opponent out of turtle position and take his back. That could actually work. Actually a lot of this could actually work. Great stuff!

      Most techniques if not all martial arts techniques are circumstantial. But I've learned that *when you're practicing* you must go with the flow otherwise you *WILL* get hurt eventually. I've seen and suffered a lot of injuries and a few friends have needed surgeries and this mostly happens on the first years when we "don't know best". The injuries from "not being a good partner" are permanent.
      Also these people are practicing forms and technique, it's not a fight.

    • @adandyguyinspace5783
      @adandyguyinspace5783 4 роки тому

      skhumbuzo cele so you mean to tell me they’re ineffective against all 7 billion plus people on this planet? The more theatrical ones, sure. Almost anything is effective if the practitioner is great at it. I could say the same thing about MMA and BJJ and Muay Thai about how they’re ineffective in a street fight, which is true to some people and not to some others. Ergo they’ll work against some people and be totally useless against some others

    • @skhumbuzocele1330
      @skhumbuzocele1330 4 роки тому

      @@adandyguyinspace5783 ....True bro....The throws are effective to less resisting opponents or less trained people. Why I am I saying this. It because this throw involve completing a lot of manuevor before finalising it. An effective throw must need one movement on your part or one contact with the opponent and it is done.

    This man has evolved Aikido. I have had 11 years of experience and a black belt since 17, but have taken Jeet Kune Do and JyuJutsu to complement Aikido's flaws. In reality, only 20% of what we learn in the dojo can be applied to a real fight. I'm glad we have someone redeeming Aikido's reputation.
