I saw a documentary B4 Xmas where after experiments on traditional veg has shown we have lost just short of 50% of the nutritional value of our food in 60yrs. This was down to Govts telling farmers & scientists (creating F1 varieties) to concentrate on yield & shelf life instead of nutrition. Therefore, Govts are more interested in money than a nations health. At the end it showed scientists are paid vasts sines of money from corporations/supermarkets etc to create/breed an immortal Tomato. Only one university in Israel was willing to show & discuss this. Then I remembered the term permaculture from a magazine & self sufficiency from a time in hospital over 20yrs ago. Now we have UA-cam & that’s how I found you & that it is possible to try in UK especially near where I live in Yorkshire, may be not as tropical as Hampshire but can be adapted to grow hardier veg & fruits. Do you grow grapes as I’ve been trying for years.
Brother thank you! We look forward to watching your videos too..i have been watching a youtube documentary series on India called 'welcome to india' I love the positivity of the indian people amonst the struggle!
@@freedomforestlife That's great! We should be accepting the reality and moving on with the show, no matter what ❤️👍😁 we wish you good luck with your life too, love the commitment 💚 We are on a journey to promote good forests here, to bring back the good old days in Kerala India. ♻️🌱🙏
Excellent video, just go’s to show how ruthless we are to Mother Nature, but how willing she is to forgive and replenish us if we just give her half a chance, I stopped using spray on my farm two years ago and the amount of pest damage I get is minimal and the beneficial insects 🐞 that have turned up in droves is incredible, I also worm 🪱 farm on quite a large scale and that has been an absolute game changer for my soil, plants and the yield this year has quadrupled, keep it up guys your place is off the hook 🪱🐝🌈🌙🌞🌧 SHAME On You MONSANTO 🤬💩💩💩
Beautiful as you are doing, but I do have a few comments. I see you growing in a thick layer of mulch. If we distribute all compost and wood chips over all agricultural land here in the Netherlands, we can spread 1000 kg per hectare annually. That's 100 grams per square meter, so not nearly enough to grow in your way. Sewage sludge from the cities goes to the incinerator because it is full of chemical contamination. Circular agriculture is therefore not possible. What is synthetic fertilizer, Nitrogen they get from the air. Phosphate and potassium from mines. Humanity's success is due to agriculture. Maybe it would have been better with a lot less people. My brother is a farmer here and uses no glyphosate except for a local root weed. In the US they use a lot of glyphosate and we import soy and corn and put that in all our processed food here. Or we make bioplastic from the maize starch that we also use in organic cultivation. Compaction of the soil is certainly not easy and is due to the increase in scale in agriculture because the margins are low. For myself I grow my food as you do with the difference that I loosen the soil and have a healthy potato harvest. Definitely keep going, but don't make it too one-sided.
Boer, thank you for your great comment, we agree it is a very complicated issue due to population and that large swaves of people no longer grow their own food like the old days so fewer people have to produce it all, we are trying to encourage smaller plots of 'acres' rather than many or hundreds of hectres like today with machinery...which is how it will have to be again in the not to distant future unless there is some real clean energy invention released for the good of everyone..the video does show the extremes, but also what is happening is extreme worldwide right now, we agree with the mutch situation, we use woodchips and compost because its readily available for next to nothing to us, if not we could use cover crops and chopping and dropping it..i coul vary in practice in whatever climate, but growing organically with minimal soil disturbance is what we believe in..
@@Jan-Boer Thanks Boer, look forward to viewing your potato videos, would you recommend any particular varieties for organic growing in high blight/virus areas? We love the purple potato varieties also!
There are alternatives to wood chips/“Return to Eden” style. Syntropic agroforestry is one example. It is about what is available locally and works in specific situations, as opposed to any system or method that can blindly be used anywhere without thought. They mentioned other alternatives in the video itself. Don’t get caught up in their example and think it is the only method.
this is clownish in its immaturity... you can not grow millions of acres of grain like wheat, rice, oat, soy, and other crops through permaculture. Its impossible. This would mean massive starvation across the world. America and other countries grow so much product that without this large scale food production the entire continent of Africa would die not to mention the middle east and even countries like China with large land areas still rely on american food products to survive. Permaculture's Origins is all about selling a story. the creator of Permaculture lived in Australia who was never a farmer on any appreciable scale but what he did do is sell an idea.. a cult like mentality where people were trained in techniques that were not science based and not tested over millennia but sold through books and classes and certifications.. like tony robbins sells his lectures, videos, books and classes... the culture of Permaculture is more important than the Farming. The fact is not one person would apply all of the aspects of Permaculture to the requirements of large scale farming and guess what most of the population of the world lives in cities where they can not produce even a tiny fraction of the food needed to support their life. ............. I am telling you the truth.. If you don't believe me then you really need to research this movement.. and I say movement because it is not just saying use traditional ways to farm better.. it is saying use impossible ways to farm all of the food the world needs to eat.. now if you want to reduce the population of the world by 90% well then maybe but this is never going to happen.. the population is going to double every 15 years and the food needed to feed those people will also need to double.. or hundreds of millions of people will starve to death.. its just that simple........ look if you want to try some permaculture methods in your back yard then fine.. but you will never be able to apply it to large scale farming and be able to feed the world.
then whats another solution u might have zippychicken i get that people needs demands but earth also need demands and we are stripping it of its natural process. earth was striving without us well plant life was it had its own system that was working well. i get that permaculture would not work out because of the population rate. But do you have a better solution or should we feed billions of people and lose our earth?

@@freedomforestlife Thanks for the clear answer. Keep going. Nice video yesterday, seems to be in the tropics instead of the UK.
