    My trim piece came off in the car wash too. Was quoted $100 just for the trim not including labor at my dealership and said heck no! I’ve never worked on anything on a car a day in my life, never even changed a tire or battery myself. Thank you so much for this video! I just finished doing it myself 😁

    Like everyone else here, I lost my top grill piece in a car wash. I was very grateful to find this video and appreciate the effort it took to film it. I would like to add a few comments from my experience replacing the piece of trim. First, expect to take the whole grill off. That’s not shown here, but I don’t know how else you’d ever get to the 3 screws from behind. It’s easy to unscrew the remaining broken off pieces and to screw on the new trim piece with the grill off (you may need to hold the broken off piece with a pair of needle nosed pliers while you turn the screw). Second, expect to break at least one and possibly more of the yellow clips, because they’re very old by now. I broke all four bottom clips, and then had to break one of the replacement pieces off when I put it on upside down. Someone on Amazon had recommended buying the yellow clips when you buy the trim piece, and I’m glad I listened and spent the $9 to get 20 extras when I ordered the trim piece. Third, you’ll need a VERY long flat screwdriver to reach from the side to the left and right to get to the upper 2 yellow clips. I’d say at least 9 inches. A regular length flat screwdriver will work for the bottom four clips. Fourth, watch the video to which this creator links in his description. I found it to have all the detailed information I needed to get the grill off and replace the trim piece. Kudos to this creator for making this video and for linking to one that goes into more detail.

    Thank you for the video! I replaced the upper chrome trim piece on my wife’s CR-V today with no problem. Well, the yellow plastic clips were a little difficult because they were hard to see, but with a little work they came loose. The rest was pretty straight forward.

    I believe I'd lost my upper grille piece in a car wash recently. The part arrived today and after a brief look, I realized it wasn't just a simple "snap it in be done with it" job. Thank you for a very explicit video. I hope when I finally decide to tackle it that the removal and replacement of those screws becomes apparent. Thanks again!

    Perfect! I was quoted $200 to replace the chrome trim on my 2014. There was no way I was going to pay that if I could do it myself. Especially not for a $30 part I found on Amazon. Thank you. I almost gave up.

    2013 CRV. Just lost the top chrome strip in a car wash. $30,000 + for a car made of plastic 🤨. A lot to be said for vehicles made in 50’s that had trim made from real metal that did not fall off of cars. Video is spot on. Thanks

    Thank you! I just got a 2013 CRV today with a new trim piece, but no idea of how to attach it. The Honda parts diagram is certainly no help, and as you said, it's hard to tell whether those shiny pieces are metal screws or plastic clips or broken trim. Thank you for showing all of the steps so clearly. That would have taken a long time for me to figure out myself.

    There is a good video on removing the grille. You have to insert a phillips screw driver on the six yellow fasteners. I noticed the one in the video was broken. You come in from the bottom for the ones at the bottom of the grill but you come in from the side on the tops ones.

LOL Anyways, thank you, as I went to a body shop and it was going to be $150 for them to do it when I was able to purchase the piece for $24.99. It arrives today, so I’ll be tackling this. I too lost the upper grille molding in a car wash and the new piece has been sitting in my garage for a while . This and the referenced other video are very useful, but I still cant open these two top yellow clips . I even made a special tool that helped me get around the issue of shining a light, prying with a philips driver and trying to see where I was prying! It is difficult to know how much pulling pressure to put on the grille without breaking something plastic! My local HOnda dealer said the whole bumper had to come off and it was a pretty expensive job. So...has anoyne else had success with releasing the yellow clips and if so do they have any hints?

    • @ianglen2374
      @ianglen2374 4 роки тому +2

      Got it! After getting a good idea of the yellow clip configuration From the videos it was really all about knowing how much pressure to pull with to get the grille off - too much and the thing cracks and the repair bill just got bigger. But it does need a good firm pull. When its off make sure you dont drop these three little screws that hold the top trim on. All told it was a 90 minute job, going really slowly and carefully! Thanks again for the videos.

    Dude. You broke the upper yellow clip (or it was broken before). It should have a tab in the middle just like the four you did not bother to remove along the bottom of the grill. There are four small slots along the bottom that allow easy acces to those clips so the entire grill can be removed. The most difficult part of this is accessing those two top yellow clips. (I see someone already pointed this out.)
