Stephen is already an escape artist 😂
may a rack for them solar panels they will catch the sun longer and build a head around your water drum so it stays protected and stuff csnt get in it
I hope he is able to find his way back into his outside area by himself and sooner or later will be unable to get out. Peaceful, easy solution!
have you given thought to creating a water tower with a float switch inside. once its full you get great pressure and pump wont have to kick on so often
A water tower in winter = frozen
Your fence isn't a problem for little Stephen, He is so cute !
make a moveable wall the same dimension as the permanent wall and keep it along the back until you want to catch them and then just move the wall forward until they are within reach. really simple but effective way to reduce their space so you can grab them. should be easy to make for your low tractor.
I so enjoy watching you two - whether milling wood, processing firewood, or working around the house, or a building project. Great video as usual - Texas here
I named my Jeep Lucy. lol.. Yes, i love her.
Great video!
It is amazing how your property is really coming together and it is really looking like a "home"stead. Great job.
Hello guys. Add 2 small wheels to this sliding chicken house at the back of the house on the sides and it will be easier to move. The axles for them can be long nails.
That barn that you 2 build is fantastic!!
You should build a shed over the mall where you cut the wood so if it rains you can get out of the weather and keep yourself warm and dry
Glad baby is ok!Seems a lot of ppl having difficulties w/ goats being born. Coghill had to bottle feed 3 kids recently! 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s
I love how Greg said if you’re here for fashion advice. I was dying laughing
Katie, your intro to this video is very good especially with the baby Evan walking through the fence and moving on the boards. Your music selection is fine and your narration is fun to listen to as you paint your 'word pictures'. The under sink RO filter is a great addition to your house.
Maybe you have to add the new goat to the logo with the dancing goats?
Best intros I've seen on YT. You really have a cinematic gift.
Myself an others I am sure feel Stephen was named after us… However what’s most important is he was born into a truly loving family… Really enjoy watching your story unfold….
Shorten the pull rope slightly. That will allow a more up angle to lessen the friction possibly.
I'm the guy who's given good advice on axe swinging techniques in the past. I'm on my 30 acre homestead, and finally finished clearing my workshop site area, and just by hand made my first 8x8 cement platform (No trucks, just by hand in a wheel barrow) to put my saw mill on. I'll soon be making wood. I can't wait. Thanks for the inspiration.
Living in west central Wisconsin i can appreciate your efforts for water. While Wisoconsin is blessed with high quantities of fresh water, huge factory dairy farms milking thousands of dairy cows around the clock it's a battle to monitor and make sure our groundwater is not being polluted by cow manure and high concentrations of nitrates in the groundwater. More people should understand the value of clean groundwater and the struggles across this globe to access clean groundwater.
Dealing with challenges like a champ! Your ability to laugh through setbacks while living off the grid is both admirable and entertaining. Keep shining light on the realities of off-grid living with your positive spirit. And I am a floating village life from Vietnam
Make a #9 wire 5 ft long with a hock on the end to catch the ckicken when butchering from the low tractor. then you can stay out of the tractor.
Hello! I love your videos. I’m learning a lot for when I start my own homestead.
Love both of you, like grandchildren to me. I grew up in abject poverty, depression years, and we too had to devise ways to live, get by with what we had.
My life is reduced to nothing sitting on couch on Saturday watching you tube and getting anxious when i saw steben walk theu the fence.
Im already on the purple pill so what is left....geez...
I can't believe you wander through a known hotbed of bear activity and don't have some
kind of fire arm. I'd be strapped with a Clint Eastwood special on my hip and a
.30-06 on my back. LOL
10-4.... Jus sayin. Canada
They live in Canada, the little dictator Trudeau took away all firearms.
Baby goat is doing well. ❤❤❤❤
Next fall ,go to your local ski swap , purchase some cheap old rentals an mount them on the chic tractor , easy pulling . 😊
Hi Katie,& Greg. Another good build,& the chickens are happy in the new space. Also glad the new water pump is doing its job. Very productive week for you both, congratulations.💯👍🏾😀🫶🏾💜🙏🏾✝️🇺🇸
Katie and Greg whatever project you start working on turns to gold in every way possible ❤🎉the newest members of the homestead are going to provide hours of viewing enjoyment 😅😅maybe once a week running episode animals only love your videos Pete cape Town south Africa looking forward to seeing you soon
"I WANT ONE OF THOSE! (The Baby Goat) To-o-o cute! Art in Calif.🤓
Congrats on the new addition to the family! (The wife and I are just way too old to have any more kids....)
For areas where well runs dry, water storage is a must. Gl and God bless!
Unfortunately where they live is essentially solid rock, drilling a well in extremely expensive.
Hi kids, It's looking good out there. Be safe!!!
try adding check valves in the water line it will reduce the down ward pressure on the pump thats how walnuts and wine berrys got thier water up the mountain hope this helps
What a precious baby (escape artist) mama look what a big boy I am. Hope you find a long term water solution, Ottawa fan enjoying your every post.
This is what homesteading is all about being able to fix everything that brakes. Then just move forward from there.
and keep fixing the same problems over and over again, really?
Katie, I would like to compliment you on how clean your kitchen is.
Being an old timer there is one thing I always stressed to my kids, grand kids, and anyone interested. Owning a home/property there is one thing you can count on, no matter how well prepared you think you are there will always be something to repair or take care of. On grid or off grid it doesn't matter, there will always be something that needs attention.
so happy Stephen is growing and doing well. Fun to see him climbing and jumping! Great video, as always!
That water system looks great, enjoyed drinking healthy water, what a blessing😊🌻❣️🌷🇺🇸
Hi guys ..maybe cut the rubber back to half way so it lightens the front, the birds will get a bit more sun which will coax them into foraging the grass
You guys are the best team on UA-cam. Your thought process is logical and if there are some hiccups along the way, you make the needed adjustments and carry on. That is success, my friends. BTW, your merch is great quality!! 👍
Hi, from Athens, Alabama. Love the location in which you guys live, The life you have chosen is harsh in the winter but great in the summer, Better yet are the trees you have on your property with a saw mill to turn them into lumber. To me you guys have and are living the ideal life. I have seen all of your videos and I love your content. OBTW I am 75YO,
A really nice design on the tractor. Let's in so much more light for them too. I must say Katie, you look a bit worn out, my darling girl. Please get some rest xx❤
You need a crossbar yoke on your pulling rope. It will make it a little easier. Less stressors on frame structure toi
Hi an easy way to catch chickens is to have a length of stiff fencing wire about 6 ft. long with a two in. hock in one end open enough to fit the chicken leg to fit in then just reach in and hook the chicken by its leg
Hi Katie and Greg. In the opening shots, I absolutely loved it when you caught Aspen greeting and saying hi to Steven through the fence. Steven is so cute and lively, he's scooting around now and so fun to watch. That white tipped tail really helps follow his level of excitement by seeing how quickly it moves 😉 That new pump seems to be doing the trick and I think the switch is a great idea Greg. It should extend the longevity of the pump and keep it going strong longer. Have a great week and I'll see you on the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
The bugs won't get ya but you will be the pied piper for all the cats on the mountain.😄
😂
Katie I was laughing so much watching you sort the meat birds! 😂 Gregg nice job on the new chicken tractor 🎉
Hello 😊the chicken shed is nice my grandmother had her husband build her coups solid and in place . She had them tall so you could walk in she had perches and the individual boxes with hay. When she cleaned she would do a few at a time. She was very clean and the birds hated her cleaning. She spent a lot of time petting them. She had a herding dog that protected the chickens and her. You goat ,Steven, is growing fast. Enjoy the video's
I like how you built the chicken movable pen....will be using this method..thank you
I worked at an egg laying farm and the birds that got out of their cages that had water feeders from above would die of thirst literally standing in water because their whole life they would drink water from above!
Try crumble sum up and put it in your pocket.. Mint is really good at keeping the flies away.
Use dolly wheels for the chicken tractor, (or even rolling chair wheels).
Use the four wheeler to pull it. That will make life easier I think. 😊
Yeppers I built two chicken tractors that was 9x20 an only 2ft tall. Of course there was openings on top for feeding an watering. There was wheels at four corners as well in the middle that raised up an down about 4 inches for easy moving. Also had shade cloth on top that could be rolled up around PVC. Very light an simple being framed with 2x2.
Consider half the height and a flat roof the hinges across the middle. Lighter. Less materials.
I loved the bit about using catnip as a mosquito repellent! Who knew!?!
There has been a Lot of rainwater running off your roof , could be time to think of some big tanks ( no pump needed ? ) Love your videos ☔
When we sold our place in the country, more than one prospective buyer ran away when the realtor explained “You understand that in buying this property you own your water supply and sewage treatment plant, and are responsible for their repair and maintenance.”
Hi, really enjoy watching you guys work together,. Always seem to have interesting videos!!!!!!!!!!
Ya'll did a great job on the chicken tractor, even the difference in weight can be overcome with the four wheeler..lol 😂😅 I'm glad the well pump issue is resolved, at least for now, until the bear starts chewing on the line again 😀 Steven/Stephen/Stephan is a cute lil critter, he'll grow up big and fine! Love ya'll ❤️
Good build for the chickens.
Lighter chicken tractor-don't build a highrise you can fit in: flat roof 30 to 36 inches high, 10-12 feet square, half net, half solid cover for dhade and protection. All you need. Or you build a heavy one and struggle more.
We use a thick wire with a hook about 2-3 inches long that opens from about the size of you little finger at the closed end to about your thumb to the open end with a slight rounded angle then about 3-4 feet of length with a handle in my case was old broom handle 5inches I drilled in to put the wire in the center but could use a branch for the handle just something to hang on to. Or a fish net then no crawling to get chickens lol have a great day
If you take about a 4 inch PVC pipe split in half long ways put one under each side it will slide very easily for you also split one in front and back. All 4 sides. So in other words you have PVC skids.
Joel Salatin is a good source of information on natural farming methods: Your work reminds me of alot of fond memories ❤
Hey Greg. Sure you know this but I’ll say it anyway. You need a larger diameter water line from the pump to the house. Even though the one you have can handle the flow rate you want. it takes more pressure to push it through a small diameter line. Best wishes to you guys from Vermont !
I think you need to strengthen the verticles to the base...doesn't seem strong enough to hold together......nice design.
Try the designs by Justin Rhodes or Sow the Land for chicken tractors. They might give you some ideas. Love love love you new little baby goat. He’s so tiny.
Hello from North Texas. I really enjoy your videos.
Greag m why not use A windmill generator . On that mountainous hill your pm time will have steady 15 to 19 mph from 5 pm till 12:02 am 20 to 30 mph .i wish you all the luck in the world . Good luck .❤ 🚿 😅 you could use 4 inch pvc covered with hay & boards & run a heat tape on the pvc . You can do it ! ❤️ 😘
HELLO from Germany from Kakenstorf Hans and Oci it looks great ❤❤❤👍👍👍❤❤❤
Hey Greg! I thought you were goanna put wheels on the chicken tractor!! for a off the cuff build its a very good job.
The resolution on your vids is excellent!!
get a couple big rain containment tanks like the morning movement channel.
Now that your water is clean put some sol'e into the water you use to put minerals back into the water. I use Redmond Real salt they also have other products, Redmon salt comes from a Utah mine , Himalayan salt also works don't use table salt it doesn't have minerals in it they took all them out. As always have a great day
Its an adjustment hence putting some the feeding on the ground this they'll have some feed and some grass!
The RO filter waste water can be used for irrigation if you are not making salty (NaCl) waste. Other salts just precipitate out when pressure drops at exit.
Would love to see some live-edge siding on the house.
Correct on the float switch. They are awesome. A few extra dollars now can save a fortune later. 😊
Hi from Ashland,Oregon. Always look forward to and enjoy your videos. I am helping my Son build onto his barn and I follow your wall construction. Thanks again for the entertainment and lessons learned!❤
we always threw grass clippings in to them to get them started as they grow
Great video truly enjoyed it . God Bless from your Canadian Friend.
Steeb is so adorable!! 🥰❤️ He is a little escape artist though, lol! 😂The new chicken tractor is awesome! Have a great weekend guys, love you! 😊❤
Baby goat "look what I can do" 😂
Clever on the water filter promo. I didn't know it was a promo until the end.
Look forward to hearing how the new chicken tractor is working❗️🌻Glad water is pumping‼️🦋
To make dragging it it bit easier, how about dragging the structure on top of a couple of wood planks. You can either leave them under the sled until you need to move the next day or slip them out and they will be ready to reposition the next time you need to use them. Just a thought!! LOVE The Barn!!!
You hav a 4 wheeler and a winch
Easy tractor move👍
Katie, that's what the Quad is for when you're trying to move something that's a little too heavy.
When you setup your solar panels you had a branch/leaves blocking 2 of the panels. You never want anything blocking the solar panels for optimum production.
Everything is coming together!! Can you send Greg down to install one of those RO filters under my sink? 😂😂
Liked the movable chicken pen Gregg did a really Good job.
Hi everyone from Georgia ❤❤❤❤❤
Hi Katie, Greg. Hello from Ireland 🇮🇪 Michael
Hello from St Louis Missouri USA 🇺🇸
Most all of the herbal mints make great misquote repellant. The strong smell drives them away. 😊
To make the chicken tractor a little easier to move, try laying boards down under the sides to slide it on. Then take them up. 😊 ❤
Greg GQ has nothing on you 😂 Thanks for the catnip tips. Steven is such a cute guy. I'm sure its hard to work with him around to play with.
What a little sweetie, kind of a recall getting out, maybe chicken wire along bottom of fence. ❤
Hi, I really have enjoyed your channel.. may I suggest you watch Off grid with Jay and Jen . Their video called An off grid must have ,you may find helpful. With all the roof surface you have you should be able collect a lot of water .Keep up the good work .
Hi and thumbs up you guys. It works for what it was made for. Me southern AZ (USA)
