    I think stitch fix would be more useful as a service if you had the option to tell them about gaps in your wardrobe, like "I need more warm layers for winter, and would like to try wearing cardigans" and then the stylist will look specifically for cardigans you might like. The current system seems designed to get you to buy things you don't need and might not otherwise buy, which isn't ideal for budgets or for the envirionment.

    I’ve been getting fixes for almost three years now and I gotta say almost all of my favourite wardrobe items came from stitch fix. I love them. The more you engage, the better the items are too, as they start to learn exactly what your style is. They send me emails weekly with clothes I either own copies of or would loooove to wear, they have my style nailed down now. I am chronically ill and a huge fashion fan, and it’s just so nice to be able to not think and still have good quality clothes that I love.
    Also! Most the dresses and jumpsuits they’ve sent me have pockets. It’s great.
    I also really like that I’ve discovered a bunch of new brands and styles from using them, as I haven’t always had a say in what I receive, and its led me to experiment with new things!
    My wardrobe is pretty full right now, so I just get the occasional fix when I feel like a treat or if I’ve noticed I’m missing something specific. I can’t rate them enough. Was really fun watching you go through the process!

    It's nice to see a company having a style quiz that actually work. But I feel like their whole business model is otherwise laid out in a way that it will easily trick the customer to buy more than they would without the service (with the discount if you take all five and wanting you to make it a regular subscription), which could easily lead to overconsumption if you as a customer aren't mindful and aware of the problems with that.

    I was considering doing this, but I genuinely couldn't answer some of those questions. There were also some basic questions that I felt were missing like lifestyle, washing requirements, comfort, pockets, prefered style in terms of feminine/masculine/unisex, heels, etc. I'd also expect to be able to upload photos to help gauge body shape and style (maybe a photo of you wearing your favourite and least favourite outfits?).
    This definitely feels like it's aimed at people who already know their style and just want a few extra pieces (on a regular basis).

    I've had two stitchfix boxes so far, the first was kind of horrendous and the second was extremely good. First time I got stitchfix, I was at a very low self-esteem point in lockdown, so probably not in the best frame of mind to make objective clothing decisions, but it also felt like that stylist gave me very boring/not-me pieces. The second time around I got literally the same jumpsuit as you Hannah, except with a polka dot print, and 4 other pieces all of which I've genuinely loved and that have integrated seamlessly into my wardrobe. I have quite a colourful, dramatic style, so it has always felt like Stitchfix is more for the everyday, basic items in my wardrobe, I haven't seen anything from them that was like super glamorous or *special* but they are very good at adhering to your body measurements and finding pieces for you that will become wardrobe staples.

    I ALSO DON'T UNDERSTAND ALL OF THE HEELS. I got into Stitch Fix a few yeas ago through Mom Advertising, which is as persistent as an Instagram algorithm, and I've had pretty good luck with them so far! I have the opposite body type (taller than average with minimal cleavage), so I sometimes struggle with their items being too short or having unflattering necklines, but, I mean, that's also an occupational hazard of all clothing shopping for me. When they've nailed it, they've done a really great job and most of my clothing is now a combo of Stitch Fix and ThredUp! All your pieces are super cute and I've VERY jealous of that gray cardigan.

    As a Scandinavian, wool is a must in winter. I just wash it in the washing machine on a low heat. (or the wool program) and lay flat on a drying rack to dry. 😊 I don't think it's any more work than other clothes.
    I might be wrong, but a few UK people I've met seem to think you have to dry clean wool?

    • @jenemica
      @jenemica Рік тому

      There are definitely wools that can be machine washed, but it depends on the type of wool. The machine washable ones are often made with some polyamid to give them strenght and treated to endure machine washing. Actually wool is supposed to washed rarely, and mostly just clean up spots and taken out to get refreshed.
      Also, i think when many people talk about woolly clothes they dont even know if the item is real wool or not. So many knits that are sold as "wool" is actually acrylic/polyester which is total plastic of course.

    • @SamarkandChan
      @SamarkandChan Рік тому

      @@jenemica well all my wool is either 100% merino wool or hand knitted. I wash it rarely, but as the merino wool is worn close to the body under clothes it has to be washed a bit more often. I haven't har any issues.

Fashion is not a priority in my life, so it's like hearing about a different science when people explain what goes with what and what they like but don't wear for one reason or another. I guess it's also just a great window into someone's personality to hear so much about their individual style. I do like to treat myself occasionally, so maybe I'll take some of your inspiration then. Also, which items did you end up buying? Was it all four?

    I had One really good box with stitch fix, and then several duds. I found the quality to be really poor for the price, and I had issues with being sent identical items but in different colors. They also sold me on jumpsuits! Theirs are so good for breastfeeding!

    I'm a similar body type to you and it's good that they actually have stuff that fits. I tried a rental service a while ago and none of the items fit me because they were all made for tall people. They were cute, but I'm not going to wear trousers that I need to turn up 6 times to avoid dragging on the floor.
    I also don't know why stitchfix have a thing about pairing everything with heels. That's a world of pain I don't want to endure. I have chronic pain anyway though, so adding more isn't the best idea.

    • @katfoster845
      @katfoster845 Рік тому

      @Essiggurke By tall I mean 5'6/7. Which is significantly taller than average in the UK. The average height is 5'4.
      When I say I'm short, I'm 4'10. Stuff is made for people who are much taller than me. Turning stuff up looks ugly and doesn't work when you're this short. Cutting the bottom off and rehemming doesn't work for fitted things because the fitted bits are in the wrong place. It's also extra effort.
      I also get really pissed off with the idea that clothes don't need to be made for short people because we can tailor things, disregarding the extra costs in time and money.

    I’ve tried stitch fix twice, the first time I kept one item that didn’t match my style, but it was really comfortable so I thought it would be good for those days where I’m like ‘I feel crap and don’t care if I look crap I just want to feel like I’m in my pyjamas at work’. The second time I sent everything back. I feel like they’re fine if you need some basics, but otherwise it’s rare that they’ll actually manage to pinpoint your style and send items accordingly. I wear p much only purples and black so to branch out I’ve been trying pieces that have a blue and purple pattern for example. Then I can wear that with the few blue items I own that otherwise feel wrong

    Ooh love the jumpsuit! So you’re allowed to wear the clothes before you decide if you’re keeping them? I guess that’s a good idea. I’m rubbish at putting outfits together so I like that they give you ideas

    As a proud member of the naked ankle winter club ;) you could try wearing leggings under the jumpsuit. You can pull/fold them up so they don’t show and it will keep the cold air from coming up the legs in winter :)

    How many of them did you buy? You seem to really like the cardigan, so I'm guessing you bought that at least.

      I agree, the rust top looked great on you Hannah, as did the cardigan and jumpsuit. Could you please tell me which brand the grey cardigan and rust jumper are? I would love to buy them or similar pieces

    Do you own any black calf-high or knee-high boots? They'd be perfect under the cropped-leg jumpsuit 💕

    I can't do this cause they're only in the UK and US. But would've been fun to take that quiz. and that jumpsuit looked great!
