🇵🇭 was on the road to industrialization in the 70s. To support and sustain progress, the primary needs were steel, energy, and manpower. We already had the manpower. We built the BFNPP to address future energy concerns. We already had the Iligan Integrated Steel Mill (IISMI) and the Elizalde Cold Rolling Mills (ELIROL), where Pinas was once the largest supplier of steel in Asia. Administrations after PFEM allowed the demise of BFNPP and the steel industry.
Meanwhile, Taiwan, So Korea, India, and China proceeded with their nation-building programs.
China has 55 operating nuclear reactors and building 20 more. China is also the largest producer of steel.
BTW, I used to be the power systems supervisor with ELIROL. I have 33 years of nuclear experience in the US, including supplying power equipment to So Korea, Taiwan, and China.
Note that during the construction of Comanche Peak Nuclear POWER plants in TX, there were over 200 Filipino Engineers and staff that worked at the construction site. I was assigned to the nuclear plant for 5 years.

The risk you are talking about has been reduced significantly throughout the decades. We are not in the 80's anymore. Many countries have already far more benifited from nuclear power already, and we also should've if not for the cancellation of bataan power plant. The benefits greatly outweighs the risk.

Agreeing with you here. Its just about time that further studies are to be conducted to see which or how we can use nuclear energy the right way and efficiently to help in our usage

Going nuclear is the right way to do. We should have done it long time ago if it wasnt for our ignorance about nuclear facilities and our fear of what to come..

Dami bansa naka nuclear they are ok

Having nuclear does have its pros. I just hope those in power also consider the environment and health of Filipinos affected.

nuclear waste and storage is costly and could be harmful to the environment the Philippines should stick to developing clean energy solar and wind are more reliable and doesn't produce waste or a possible nuclear disaster.

You need nuclear energy, going forward to be one of the developed countries . He's talking about other options in 10 years and Filipinos will continue to pay their high energy bills till then.

Philippines is one country beside Indonesia has plenty of geothermal energy. It could just use renewable energy to power it's need. It is not a very industrialise country. Besides fusion technology is very close. When it does, nuclear will loose it's flavour. There must be other reasons for PH to go nuclear.

That's true. I commented this one time but the people said it would be difficult because of bureaucracy and monopoly of electric sources. They should really push for renewable energy if ever.

Considering that nuclear energy has both pros and cons, they should ensure that this won't harm anyone and anything if they plan to fully implement it. They should also consider funding renewable energy since it has more benefits but harder to attain.

So, in a nutshell, we couldn't upgrade to nuclear yet since we can still handle the load of electricity and have excess power.
We can stay in the current system and wait 10 to 20 years if nuclear reactors is now commercialized before considering using nuclear or once it is actually necessary, yet we must also consider nuclear waste and other stuff.

But a large percentage of those base load comes from coal + oil plant which the DOE are slowly trying to replace w natural gas or nuclear energy as alternative.

mahal ng kuryente ng pilipinas,. malaking tulong ang nuclear energy to slow down or down the electricity cost.. naka focus lang ang iniinterview sa metro manila. di niya naisip ang mga nasa province, kapag napababa mo ang price sa manila it will affect sa mga province dahil sa subsidy ng govt ay ma focus sa mga province na mahal ang electricity.. di ba nila alam kong ganu kamahal ang electricity sa mga island province, halos ang minimum salary ng mga ordinary na pinoy ay kalahati nito napupunta na kagad sa kuryente.. advantage din ng my nuclear pwede kang gumawa ng nuclear weapon sa future to counter chinese govt, matatakot na sila sa pinas dahil meron ng nuclear deterrence ang pinas.. mr. dalusung must give his wealth to the people to subsidies electricity cost..

Even rich countries w/ limited sunlight are veering away from nuclear. May gusto lang kumita dito. Di nga ma-perfect ng gobyerno ung response sa recurring calamities like bagyo gusto pa ng highly dangerous na nuke. You are playing with people's lives and livelihood!!!
