Great video Meg. Another weekend starting with a smile on my face. The wheels look fantastic. Hope you were able to sell the other rims to recoup your expense for the supplies to redo your old ones. Have a wonderful week and see you next time.
Nice work, great looking result 👍 Here in Finland it's still too cold and too much snow for summer tires, but maybe after couple of weeks it's summer tire time. Right now it's -2°C, so there's ice on the roads.

Nice job Meg. Love the colour too. I did my Volvo alloys and it took a week to do the four. The more time you take to prep them the better they turn out.
That tire paint you chose is the best. Dupli-Color tire paint lays down really well, and the metallic blends amazing. I've used it on several sets of wheels.

Well have to give you credit for getting the tyres off with Bike tyre irons, the ones used for cars are much longer and take way less effort! The rims looks great!
Meg. Considering the issue you had with the new/used rims. I know you tried to line up the lug bolt holes, but I'm pretty sure those new/used wheels would have worked. I would have put the wheel on the hub, put in one lug bolt by hand, and then manipulate the wheel to line up another lug bolt. The issue seemed to be that the circle on the back of the wheels was larger than the round protrusion on the hub. If the spacer thingy was the correct size for the new/used wheels this misalignment would have not happened. By putting in the one lug bolt, then skipping a hole and putting in a second lug bolt, I believe the new/used wheel would bolt right on.

Wow, those turned out great, I have been a mechanic for 20+ years and would never take on the task of removing low profile tires by hand, especially with those tiny bars lol, but you got it done 👍
Very nice job. It seems there are few things you can't do. For few tips - if you put on bondo you can straigh sand some of excess off ..it comes off very easy , because it's not fully hardened. This is the trick they do with car painting bondo also. For curved i would use something softer. Some sandpapers have soft backing . You could also use some bigger sponge as car washing sponge to make it bend more without your hand doing the curves. While painting spray should always go totally over the part and then back, because if you change direction at the part it will have thicker coats on the sides where you change direction. And finally - don't paint the part that connects to the hub of the car. The paint just makes wheels stick to car while taking them out, it might loosen while driving if there is thick coat as paint gets squashed and is overall bad idea. Just clean it with sandpaper and thats it. subbed.
Thanks so much! I debated my approach so much before getting into this project lol but ended up just following Chris Fix's direction and I'm stoked on the result and the colour as well - glad you liked it too, thanks for watching!
Outstanding job. If you have to do that again, press in the valve stem first to let most of the air out before removing the stem. Without all the air pressure it will be very easy. Can’t wait to see what you do next
Thanks for yet another great vid to start my Saturday off! My father was too cheap growing up to pay the 5 dollars to have someone remove and replace a tire on a rim so I learned this job young. Its one of those jobs that was not designed to be done without the machine. Love watching your videos. You have what any tradesman would love to find in an apprentice, curiosity and determination. Twenty years in the plumbing trade and I cant think of a Plumbing related task that is out of your capabilities. Keep em coming!
Thanks so much! I'm actually really happy to have learned this skill because it's a useful one to know how to do! Luckily my partner had the tire spoons for his dirtbike otherwise it would have been much harder lol! Thanks for the support, have a great week!

Your Enthusiastic Drive is Fantastic and Amazing! Keep Up the Great Drive and Videos! The Valve Situation just Killed Me! haha . Best Mech on Utube! Even though U are Canadian! 😂❤
hello I came across one of your videos yesterday on the dismantling and cleaning of the intake manifold and I appreciated it I congratulate you for your strength and decision I can assure you that even people from the opposite sec do not do what you done but I like it because you make me laugh in your experiences of mechanics courage and good luck my English is done with translation bravo 🇫🇷🇫🇷
Great video as always Meg, I empathize with you and all that sanding, My Father had us kids do a lot of sanding for him back in the 80’s as he bought old wooden furniture which he had us strip the old paint / varnish off using Nitromorz, Sandpaper & Wire wool but he wouldn’t Paint or Varnish the prepped furniture he would just Wax it instead and the end result turned out really nice, He also had an old wooden Boat (Motor Cruiser) down in Poole Harbour which is not far from the Jurassic Coast on the South Coast of England and we spent many an hour stripping and painting that too! 😂 🇬🇧
Thank you! It was a ton of sanding but honestly so worth it in the end. Sounds like you took on a lot of fun projects with your dad, how great! Such great skills to have and nice to be able to reflect back on. Have a wonderful weekend!
@@Meg.August I don’t think we would have called it “Fun” but at least it taught us to turn our hands to most things, Hope you have a Wonderful Weekend too! 🙂🇬🇧
@@AJComputerServicesUK Fair enough! I definitely can relate to that, when my parents bought a fixer upper when I was in highschool there was a lot of tile wax scraping, and things that needed to be sanded, that were far from "fun" although good skills to learn and it's now something I do have an appreciation for!
I have wheels taking up space in my garage. The treads are shot. Im going to use this technique to separate them. Thanks! Nice to see someone in my area of Canada going through similar jobs. Front brakes next week for me. Rock auto parts and running back and forth between Canadian Tire or Lordco.
Honestly it was pretty fun getting those tires off this way! I think it was very much worth it. Hope it goes well for you, and good luck with the front brakes as well! And heck yes, Rock Auto is such a game changer for parts and I do love Canadian Tire & Lordco lol.
Incredible job Meg, I work in the automotive industry. Getting rims refinished at a shop runs 2-3 hundred bucks. Ever drop anything on your toes? Nice socks😊.
Thank you Curtis! The cost savings is definitely a bonus! But I'm happy to have learned this skill for myself, and it was honestly so much fun, I'd gladly do another refinish project in the future! (And so far my toes have been fine lol)
Your determination is impressive. I would not have had the patience to remove those tires - would have done a trip to a tire shop and be happy to pay to have them taken off. 😂.
Today I came to your channel by chance, excellent work Meg¡¡¡¡, very difficult work and you were able to pull it off, I congratulate you! I have reviewed other videos of yours and I loved your charisma and content, you gained one more subscriber¡¡¡¡¡, a hug
Meg, I really liked your videos and the way you approach work, in one day I saw the 20 videos you had published, including the last one, which now totals 21! Congratulations and nice place where you live, although I still can't guess where in Canada!!!! 🤔😉😀
Very much like what you are doing and just going for it. Am a mechanic myself and cant wait to see you learn so much that you start modifying, building and fabricating your cars..... just PLEASE I admonish you to protect your feet better! You will thank me if one day ant it will happen a heavy part or tool lands on your foot and you come out unscathed!!!!
You should watch Vice Grip Garage. He painted his wheels put the tires on the wheels with out setting the beed and cut a hole in a garbage bag just a little bit smaller that the wheel and then painted the wheels. That keeps the wheel from getting scratched when mounting the tire.
Watching you take those tyres off I thought you were going to pull a muscle or something 😆 As fun as it is to watch I do worry for your safety 🫣 Good job though. Enjoyed watching. Take care 🙂
Amazing job Meg, I used to work as a tyre fitter, and thought you might struggle to get the tyres off the rims by hand. Using wood and the car was inspiring. The one thing I did notice is that there are 10 stud holes in your rims, with not a lot of meat between them. Is that how they are supposed to be, or did the previous owner cut new holes to make them fit? Might be worth checking it out. Wheels look amazing tho, are you planning to pick out the name detail with black paint?
Thanks very much! They're actually aftermarket wheels and have two different bolt pattern options on them. I actually have been considering blacking out the emblems/badges so I may do that in a future project!
Bead breakers can be purchased quite cheaply on Amazon or at Harbor Freight, and they are much safer than your method. THOUGH YOURS WORKED!! Good video and thanks for sharing.
Very true, I did see those online, however I had these tire spoons already, so I figured I'd give it a go. Thankfully it did work although it did need a lot of muscling! Thanks for watching!
You really should wet sand the primer even if it looks smooth and use sealer on the filler spots. But it you did great. I use Graphite on my Subaru wheels so great choice. Way ta go.
Yes this is true, I did consider it, and that is the proper way of doing it, but they just looked so good already (and to be honest I was also a bit tight on time!) so was happy to just carry on without doing another round of sanding and cleaning. The graphite is awesome!!
Great job with this project! I am curious, though - I did the same thing to a set of wheels years ago, and the new paint job did not hold up well at all, they scratched really easy and they didn't stand up to washing them. How have your wheels held up so far?
Doesn’t matter what technique you use just as long as you get the same results as anyone else good job

Nice job Meg done better than I did I would not attempt to take my tyres off I left them on when I painted my rims another awesome video hi from Australia 😅🙈😀
Wow, that was kind of hard to watch but the end result was pretty good, those rims turned out pretty nice. When you do stuff like that just remember safety first.
Meg. They are called Hub centric rings. Next time u should check the info on the wheels. all the info and specs will be listed on the inside face of the wheels. Where it mates to the hub. 👍🏾
Whats your experience with these old Finnish Nokian tires? I have brand new set on my BMW and so far im loving those, even i was very sceptical to use suddless tires in winter.
I really liked them! They did well in all conditions and are a great winter tire. But I gotta be honest, now that I've experienced the grip of studs I personally will always be using studs in the winter BUT we also have really bad ice and freezing rain here and lots of steep winding hills so it just makes sense for my area.
@@Meg.August here in Finland we probably have the same winter conditions what you have 😅 I have also small Renault twingo and its useless without studs... Definetely will buy studded Nokians for next winter. But the heavy 5 series performed perfectly with the Nokian tires 😎
@@Taikausko I've heard that about Finland - lots of hard pack snow as well I think? But yes, once you've experienced studs, there's nothing quite like it!
@@Meg.August it all depends on the location and if salt or sand is used or not. Packed snow mostly outside the city areas. In cities they plow it immediately before it even gets packed. And you know when the packed snow starts to melt, it turns into an ice haha. Then studs are definitely the best choice
Nice job Meg! Quick tip for if you and any viewers thinking of doing this on their own. When you are breaking the bead and you have tire sensors that read the pressure (psi), make sure you put the valve stem on the opposite side. This ensures you don't break the sensor.
Again, Nice job!!!

Here we go..an epic project..well done gal!!!
Thank you! Glad you liked it!
Very good job on taking on the rimms.😊
Thanks so much! I'm actually really happy to have learned this skill because it's a useful one to know how to do! Luckily my partner had the tire spoons for his dirtbike otherwise it would have been much harder lol! Thanks for the support, have a great week!
Hello MEG,
I have to give you a big compliment because your videos are a hit.
And I thought today's video was particularly great and very funny!
You are a very attractive lady who faces every challenge fantastically and always has good ideas for solving problems.
Thank you very much and I'm already looking forward to your next video.
greetings from Germany🙋♂
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed this video! Have a great weekend!
90 percent of women wouldnt even attempt to remove a tire from a rim... 👏👏 Bravo im impressed 💯
thank you!
90 percent of PEOPLE wouldn't attempt this :)
😁🥰 FINE JOB MEG. 💗 you became a pro on this job. Thanks
Thank you so much!!
Finally Finished watching ur Video! Cudos for the Great Work and Finish on the Awesome Wheels! Stoked! U did a Great and Wonderful Job on the Dismount and Seperation of the Tires and wheels! The Terminology and Humor are Excellent and On the Spot! Cheers From South Texas! Can’t wait for the Exciting Video!
Great job, sometimes it’s easier to spray the paint if things are on their side where you can hold the can straight up rather than facing down.
Thank you! And thanks for the tip!
Bead breaking is tough, especially on low profile tyres - nice job!
Be careful of dust from pressure treated wood as it’s not good stuff.
Thank you Kev!
Hello Mai❤❤❤❤❤
hello I came across one of your videos yesterday on the dismantling and cleaning of the intake manifold and I appreciated it I congratulate you for your strength and decision I can assure you that even people from the opposite sec do not do what you done but I like it because you make me laugh in your experiences of mechanics courage and good luck my English is done with translation bravo 🇫🇷🇫🇷
So glad you enjoyed the intake manifold/EGR video, thank you for watching!
The wheels look amazing✨️👏🏻 awesome job Meg! 👍🏻
Thanks so much! 😊
Nicely done.
Thanks!
Awesome job. They look great
Thank you! I'm really happy with them too!
Thank you! You know what, it was actually pretty fun despite it being a struggle lol! But totally respect taking it to a tire shop to have it done!
Today I came to your channel by chance, excellent work Meg¡¡¡¡, very difficult work and you were able to pull it off, I congratulate you! I have reviewed other videos of yours and I loved your charisma and content, you gained one more subscriber¡¡¡¡¡, a hug
Thank you @carlosc.8707 ! I'm really happy to hear you're enjoying the video and thanks so much for the sub!
Meg, I really liked your videos and the way you approach work, in one day I saw the 20 videos you had published, including the last one, which now totals 21! Congratulations and nice place where you live, although I still can't guess where in Canada!!!! 🤔😉😀
@@carlosc.8707 Wow thank you so much! I really appreciate the support, that's amazing! Hope you have a great week!
You did a very good job and the results show it.
Thanks very much, Tony!
Very nice job, Mag.
Thank you!
Your determination is tremendously abmerable
I love the way you talk to us like we are there but take the wheels to the tire shop to get them off
Good to see you don't mind hard work and awesome perserance. 😋.
Good to see your good with hand tools as well 😍. Keep up the hard work. X
Thank you! I'm excited to take on more projects and keep challenging myself!
Good job as always meg wheels look great
Thank you Craig! Appreciate it! Have a great week 😊
Thank you! I'm definitely looking forward to taking on more projects and bigger projects in the future! And thanks for looking out 😊
You should watch Vice Grip Garage. He painted his wheels put the tires on the wheels with out setting the beed and cut a hole in a garbage bag just a little bit smaller that the wheel and then painted the wheels. That keeps the wheel from getting scratched when mounting the tire.
It's a great channel! Good stuff on there. Haven't seen that video in particular but thanks for the suggestion!
Watching you take those tyres off I thought you were going to pull a muscle or something 😆 As fun as it is to watch I do worry for your safety 🫣 Good job though. Enjoyed watching. Take care 🙂
My muscles were definitely sore after that tire removal lol! Thanks for watching!
They look great! It's oddly satisfying to fix cosmetics on a perfectly good old car. Now it feels like a new car again...for a few days ❤
So true! Now I just have to stay away from curbs!
Great job they look great
Thank you!
Thanks for a great video! Please keep them coming!
Thanks John! Will do
Amazing job Meg, I used to work as a tyre fitter, and thought you might struggle to get the tyres off the rims by hand.
Liked this video..... And the result. Nice Job Meg! 😏✌
Thanks very much! I'm really happy with them too!
Wow, great job!
Thanks!
You should be proud, that was a good job!
Thank you!
Wheels looked great
Thanks!
Thank you! It was definitely a challenge! So happy I had those tire spoons lol!
Those came out really nice. Almost the same color as your car. If it was me, I'd pay to have the old tires removed next time😄
Thank you! I'm really happy with the colour choice. It was tough getting those tires off but I'm happy to know it is possible to do yourself!
Persistence always pays off 💪
It sure does!
I feel your pain about taking tires off I did that on 33s such a pain but great videos like always meg
Lol, it definitely was a pain but actually really happy I learned (and accomplished) this. Thanks for watching, I'm glad you're liking the videos!
