It’s easy to see Kane likes him. He likes fast practices and the level of intensity Todd brings and expects. We’ll see if Todd’s style can turn it around.
I really like this guy What he says makes sense to me I couldn't stand listening to newsey talk i got nothing out if it Hopefully the players get going with this guy
Kane and the rest of the players did NOT respect Lalonde, but you can tell they respect Todd. Might not seem like a big deal to some people, but it certainly is. The boys seem to have more neurons firing in these interviews, I love it.
Seems like he is going to expect a development of grit by way of hard work. I hope that this coaching team can find ways to better utilize players who could clearly use a boost, like Tarasenko, maybe even Kane.
The players polite inability to say "yeah (fill in the blank) that guy", whenever Gru is vaguely mentioned is refreshingly proffesional but mildly flustering.
Can't reverse engineer the past, however it baffles me how wings could go from Blashill to yet another guy in Lalonde with a same background and lack of experience..A waste of a decade..At the very least they have a coach with some cred and leadership..Let's kick it in gear now!
Glad to see coach McLellan back with the Wings, seems like the persona of the team has changed a bit already and everything he has mentioned is actionable. I am hoping it's a quick turnaround but just being realistic, maybe next year with some flashes in the pan of what to expect during the rest of this season. Really is a bummer, I liked Newsy and how he approached things (through the media).
I'd like to see Kasper, Rayzer and Bergs on a line just to see what they can do. All three are pretty good at puck retrieval and keeping plays alive. Kasper looks like he's really close to finding his finish in front of the net. I really like his game. Rasmussen has his moments, but he should be running people over to get pucks back instead of trying to pass to the points and giving the puck away as much as he does. I think splitting Edvinsson and Seider is a good thing for a while--take some of the pressure off of them and let them start winning before they eat a tons of minutes against the league's best.
I agree, Kasper and Berggren are really good together. Raymond on that line would be awesome, would like to see Debrincat or Kane playing with them as well.
I seen rumblings of practice being an hour and being one of the longest practices yet. If that's true then there's a reason we've been losing. PRACTICING FOR A FKNG HOUR
I heard a ton of that when I lived in North Dakota and spent a lot of time in Winnipeg, Minneapolis, Fargo and Grand Forks--it's ingrained in their speech, doncha know. :P
Effort wasn't there with Lalonde and they were stuck in their own heads with a system that didn't work. You're going to see them pick it up big time with this coach. It may take a week or two, but there's going to be improvement. He needs help from Yzerman on the defensive end. Wouldn't be surprised if he traded a forward or some prospsects for a D man.
The energy in the room seems so much different already. Love to see it.
Were you in the room?
😂
Wouldn’t that be frikin awesome?!’
Yes, let’s go boys!!!
Let’s hope that translates into wins

Saw a couple of smirks in there in reference to his style. Todd is definitely a different style human lol
Won’t lie man, it made me smile. The boys respect him, and damn it’s nice to see.
Communication is key. Not just standing around with your arms crossed
Yeah, but I think there was really good positives, too.
Practice fast and hard, translate to the game. I like it.
Welcome back to Det, Coach!

@@workshoptelescope good thing we aren't talking about being in the league or saying that we can do better.
Hang in there boys and fans. It'll take more than a few games to reverse what Lalonde did in 3 years.
For the fans please turn this team around

Going to my first wings game tomorrow hopefully we come out with the win. LGRW
First game is against the caps😬. Sorry my guy, but enjoy little Caesars. It’s an amazing venue, with a great atmosphere.

You saw a good one!
i like his empgasis on teaching and learning, and i thinj the players sounded more upbeat.
Glad to see and hear the boys reacting well to what McLellan and Yawney want from them 🐙
Stick control and passing needs some work but I believe and hope they rise above some changes are gonna happen in who remains on team we all see this

I'm excited to see the change. Sounds like the push the boys need.
They should have never let this guy get away years ago.
Boys, imagine if good ol Todd here can get Joey going on the top line? Imagine that world
Do I really know?
LOL

I always thought he should have stayed in Detroit and inherited the job from Babcock.

Conditioning is a huge part of hocke, obviously. Lalonde was a dough boy, in and out. Can’t respect a guy like that.

Now we need a new roster to go with our new coach 😊👍
New defense*
In my opinion this offense is more than capable, with the right system
@jeffgardner4500 that's part of it. Fun fact, walman has over double the points of tarasenko in less games 👌
@@clarnus3712That move made me lose all hope in Yzerman as a GM, ik there’s a lot of diehards for him but that’s just abysmal asset management

Change will come. This is not “the team”. Lots of expiring deals in the next couple years, cap increase, new kids coming.
these interviews are a waste of space
Does the team have a bet to see who can say "you know" in interviews the most? Hilarious. Go Wings.

Another loss with a new coach. It doesn't matter who's coaching. Detroit has to admit, it wasn't Derek's fault. 🤦♂️
