Of course he does. His last cup he was coaching in Detroit, in his first coaching gig in the nhl. If it comes full circle and he wins a cup here again as head coach he will cement his legacy. I'm sure it feels like being back home to him.
I’ll listen to Todd talk hockey all day long. Imagine Lalonde still here “we gotta show compete, we like our DNA, and I like our process” just a bunch of hockey cliches over and over again.
lol. Todd just used different cliches dude. “Concepts first”, “we got away from it and gotta get it back a little bit”, “individuals that are going” are all pretty standard coach yapping lacking any specificity at all.
I like what im seeing so far it’ll be interesting before trade deadline line to see what happens and then a full season with new coach and maybe some younger players coming up
I’d like it if the press would ask him about what he specifically thinks he’s learned and changed after ten years of rotating coaching. He’s still the guy the Oilers and Kings both moved on from very rapidly. Has he changed his systems? Has he found some new insight? Guy has coached a long time, with rosters much better than this one will ever be, and I’d be curious to know what he thinks is going to be different this time.
@@workshoptelescope That's not entirely true, as Compher exists and he has a year longer (until 27/28) than Copp and they both do exactly the same thing. If there was only one of the two on the team, their individual contracts wouldn't bother as much or as many fans as they do. There are similar players in the RW pipes and it's more about whether they are ready or not. Both Compher & Copp are almost 30 years old already and they both really need to increase their pace to possibly be traded with -50% off their cap cost and the most likely thing is that one of the two will be move when they can, stil a huge "if"on that part tho.
@@workshoptelescope Andrew Copp is a black hole on the roster? You been watching the games lately? His line w Cat and Kane has scored 6 goals in 59 minutes together. A coach that can articulate the problems and offer at least a plan for the a solution is incredibly refreshing.

@casewojo6186 you gonna miss we got some looks, touches, zone time. That's a great question 🤔 🤣 😂
Underlying numbers are good. we're getting chances
@timmz54 lol, great question helene. Theoretically we won that period!!
You can just hear the buzz in the locker room; not one player wanted to play for lalonde.
Even in these interviews. Kane and DeBrincat sounded resurrected at the post-game interview last night.
It was almost disorientating it was humming so loud! First thing I noticed.
Derek Lalonde couldn't coach a peewee team, unbelievable he had a chance to coach an NHL team.
Todd Mclellan is our Dan Campbell of the red wings and I love it

Take good care of Axel Sandin Pellikka when he comes to you!!!

Getting a rebound chance is also sometimes more important
One could argue, that the assist is always more important than the goal; for said assist would only be a pass completed if there were no goal. 🤓 😂

Get Copps stock up and trade his awful contract
Contact is bad because he’s an untradeable player.
Until that contract expires, there’s a black hole on the roster with his name on it.
