I relate to this totally! I used to work in film and majored in film but a yr go I felt like it wasn’t for me anymore. I got board and tired of working in the industry. The money was good but I just didn’t enjoy it anymore. I also volunteer with youth at my local church among many other things and in the background of all the film work, have been doing other kind of stuff. I’ve realized my passion lies in something else and decided to go back to school to get my Msw.
It’s awesome you’ve decided what makes you be you at the end of the day.

Dude I appreciate this I just started watching your videos about a few months ago.
I have a full time job, serve on my church’s media team, and help a friend out filming weddings.
I decided to try to start my own photo/ video business (I lack on the creative part) and try to grow a podcast.
All of it is fun and I don’t think I would trade it. I just struggle with finding ideas and I am just learning to edit things beside just the basic.

Your Highest Calling is in Christ, Brother - never let anything else get in the way or distract you - the Lord actually revealed to me an idol in my life with some of this stuff, even though I initially wanted to make meaningful Christian content and be evangelistic - I am not even remotely close to what you have built, but I essentially did not give my full go at it and gave it up - but, that does not change my desire to Glorify the Lord in all I do - I am also very Creatively minded - all kinds of art - including photo, video, music, graphic, etc -
You're pretty awesome at what you do, and I remember you from years ago, but this is the first video I have seen from you in a such a long time - But, my encouragement to you, if you even see this comment -

You almost make me cry, I just hit 39 years old and my work that I did for 8 years the cancel my program where i taught programming/computer sciences and didn't renew my contract and I loved my job. Then suddenly I felt I have nothing to fight for, no wife no kids, just was my work and think about start again make me feel exhausted and I just wanted to quit everything.
But God have certain weird ways to communicate with us, i didn't like the title anyway I decided to open the video, to cancel my subscription 🤣.
Now i think i have to renovate myself and find something, still I don't know what it is but I'll try.

honestly surprised you didn't have a small staff to handle stuff. sounds like you could have benefitted greatly from outsourcing editing to an editor able to replicate your style. everything makes sense and it's been fun
This one hit home. I now run a video company and filmmaking/gear channel, but I majored in music in college. I haven't touched my music gear in months because I've felt it doesn't "push my brand" and it's honestly left me feeling a huge void. I'm going back to just creating what I want to create.

i found your channel through the 2nd most famous video you made, about the FTF course, i was intruiged, clicked and fell in love with your channel, i instantly thought to my self "damn, this bro must have hundreds of thousands of subs" and i remmember you had like 20K at that time, your channel and creativity is very underrated, i remmember some of my favorite videos from you having 1000> views, which almost made me tear up, because you reminded me, of myself...
i also started a channel almost 5 years ago, upload day and night on it, edit for countless hours, try different strats, but one day i realised, that im just not... made to be a youtuber, or maybe its not my time, who knows?
currently im hoping all good for you, don't do my mistakes, don't try too hard, because sometimes, you can overpush yourself to the point where you believe that this is positive, but you are doing yourself no good except just harming yourself, your body, and your mindset.
keep in mind that the end of youtube, isn't the end of the world, youtube as an entire platform could collapse tomorrow and we wouldn't even know, but would it affect me? no, could it affect people who make a living from it, of course !!!, but do we make a main living out of it? no, so live your life, enjoy it, we are still young (im 17, you seem 24 ish) i used to really rush my life to the point of believing that sleep is a waste of time, and can manifest that time better, and as cringe as it sounds these days, i did fell into really tough depressive days, i kept saying that "i don't believe in depression" but trust me, it is real.
i thought i was just messing around and wasting even more time by "feeling my feelings" and all that stuff, but guess what, that only got me to the point to almost off myself, and who do i have to blame here? no body but myself, because i was fighting for a dream that was simply, not destined to be.
will i be great? fk yah i will, but not this way, because i know for a fact that god himself picked a great road for me, it could all happen by giving me an opportunity that i can manifest and skyrocket in a month or a week, but it might not happen now, maybe tomorrow, maybe when im your age, but one day, it will happen.
conclusion is, live your life, fk youtube, don't let it ruin your enjoyment of creating itself (don't forget that most great youtubers we all love and know today, started by creating content, just because the "like making videos") so if you wanna make videos, make videos that people wanna watch, on a topic you love, that way, you are happy, and the viewer is happy too.
