'Ms Jackson' guitar tutorial (The Vines version!)

If you've been following my free beginner's guitar videos, you will certainly want to add this song to your repertoire. 'Ms Jackson' is one of those rarities: a cover version which is as good as the original. The Vines did a great job, for sure!
There are only three chords - Em, C and Dadd9. The strumming requires a little bit of palm muting but the song really sounds great once you master this rhythm.
When play 'Ms Jackson' live, I like to start the song off in Em because it sets the melancholy mood for the song. However, for the sake of clarity, the actual song actually starts with a C chord and then moves up to Dadd9, and then the Em.
Remember to play along with the original recording to develop your sense of rhythm.
