I am always amazed at people's capacity to share information for the betterment of others. This is a perfect video for this topic. Most people just want to hear the songs they recognize and when someone says, "play a song", this little bag of goodies is a great set of crowd pleasers.
I really appreciate you sharing these. As a 65 year old, I’m trying to muster the courage to do solo gigs. I will definitely use some of these songs. I like the Sinefeld clip 😅
I just love your truth about what the normal folks party with and not what so called guitar players think😂 im 69 and play that what i love to see people havein fun
@@FrankPersico Must admit, I think it's a terrible dirge. The Oasis song I think works really well is "Half the World Away". It also reminds people in the UK of a very popular TV programme which used it as a theme (The Royle Family)
Great video. I appreciate the format of you giving us the “ideas” and not just a tutorial. Also I enjoy how it’s like I’m in the room with you and it’s a conversation rather than just a video. Great video!!!
I was 30 seconds in and immediately hit the subscribe button. I want to start playing again but I'm having a huge cervical spine surgery on 10/15/24 (it'll be my 32nd overall) and currently can't use my left arm. Your channel is going to be an excellent launching pad for me when I recover. Thank you for being such an outstanding teacher, paesan!
@DoubleA3 Thx for asking. Surgery went well. Lot bigger than we thought. About a 12" incision and a lot of nerve damage. I have paralysis in my left hand now but it should come back over time. Only 2.5 weeks since the operation so one day at a time. Thx again for asking. Much appreciated!
Good riddance is one of the songs that people of that generation wanted to learn to play guitar and sing along! I am a bit older, but I picked that one and I love it! I didn't know Santeria, I will give it a listen! Great Video, cheers, Frank from germany!
Thank you so much for doing these, you give me hope that someday I will be able to entertain a bunch of folks in a bar, at a wedding, a festival, etc. And I know you aren't lying because there are no signs of combustion emanating from your pantaloons. Please keep doing these!
great vid. for us 90s music fans this vid could have went on for a 1000 hrs and only scratched a page of the songs we love. my brain is scrolling like a rolodex. i had over 200 CDs when i had my biggest collection of music. now its all on here.
You are awesome! Great taste in music and right to the point! Thank you! I appreciate all the advice! I have done a few gigs and need more songs to get to the next level. Thank you!
Frank as a guitarist of any years I am so happy I have found your channel and am learning so many new things. If you had a teaching book I would happily purchase it. I am also a looper but have made it so complicated and now you have shown me such a far. better way of looping and what to loop. Please do more loop tutorials
I like that you included little tips on clicking out on your looper. I’m never gonna play live acoustic gigs but this is helpful info, worth knowing even for a dorm room strummer, that most creators don’t include. Excellent vid. Btw that Green Day song was the first I ever learned on my Guitar Center Washburn beater. Such memories. I didn’t get to Wonderwall until like song 5.
As someone who cut his teeth on 80s hair metal, where the playing was technically far far more complicated, I can play all these songs with both hands tied behind my back. But This statement is not to brag, it is only to put in to context and set up my next statement, that is, as someone who is qualified to assess, such things, YOU are an excellent teacher. I clicked on your video from curiosity to see what these must learn songs from the 90s are, and I watched the whole video just because I enjoyed your presentation. You are a great teacher.
Man, a) your voice is not that off, so good enough. B) Your singing makes it way more feasible. C) whoever complains afterwards should go and funk themselves. Thanks for making music easier ✌🏻
Black-Pearl Jam Nutshell - Alice In Chains Nirvana- The Man Who Sold the World (David Bowie Cover) Temple of the Dog - Call Me a Dog Jeff Buckley-Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen Cover) I’d have to do some rearranging on a few to make them more suitable for acoustic, but those are my 5.
The Green Day song was a surprise to me as most of the people in my neck of the woods can’t stand that song, probably over played on the local radio or something. I’d replace that one with Blind Melon - No Rain. Cheers! 🍻
I really enjoy this channel. It kind of gives me the courage to maybe go play some open mics. Learning from you has kind of showed me that I have what it takes, just practice, go out there and have fun, but definitely have a game plan.
Glad it was helpful! Sometimes you have to take certain liberties when you strip a song down and find a groove that works for you. Even if it’s a compromise. Thanks for the comment

Hootie’s Let her cry, Matchbox 20 Push, 3am, Sound Garden Black Hole Sun…
great suggestions.
Lol. Those are the songs you put??? Hahahaha what a winner
Nutshell is AIC's most under-rated song, and the acoustic version is peak grunge.

Thanks so much. I really appreciate it
100% agree! (from a Busch league semi-pro)
You're a legend in your own mind.
@ nah. I broke my mind years ago. It’s utterly fuccin useless to be honest. I was aiming at being a legend but I’m not old enough as yet.

I find if you pick one of the other popular oasis songs people go mad for it. Wonderwall can be hit or miss, unless everyone's already plastered.
Well they are going on tour next year! 😂

@DoubleA3 and needless to say, there won't be any guitar playing for a long time. Didn't have the paralysis before the surgery so I'm really bummed

you can so easily get into the groove of rhythm and chord changes
and forget why one would want to learn a song by heart
and can sit down and play with a melody
once you know your basics, you easily get absorbed by theory and people like Rick Beato and hit a wall where you can't absorb and continue the journey you really set out on
with his instrument
