I've started using this cubase 14 and i can confidently say this is the best version of cubase there has ever been! It's very stable, hits harder than the other older versions, the graphics are crisp, and the general feeling while using it is efficiency at its best. The new stuff are also amazing and extremely important. Big up to steinberg this time. Now Cubase is just amazing!
Still no gapless audio playback in 2025, I don't think any other DAW has this problem anymore. They add all this random tech that nobody asked for while letting their tacky foundation rot.
After 8 years of begging I can finally rearrange tracks in the mixing console. That took a while. The added Ableton Drum Rack function is also a lot more friendly than Groove agent. Very nice
I've used Cubase since it was on the Atari ST-FM.( it was Steinberg 24 then) I've found it's easy to use once you've read the manuals and each improvement has aided my productions ever since . I've tried other DAWs over the years but none come close to any version of Cubase. I'm glad they stopped using the USB dongle because that was a real pain if I forgot to pack it with my gear.
One of my biggest annoyances has been fixed: drag and drop in the mix console. Having a drumrack like Ableton is also a huge improvement over groove agent. The other things I hope for, as a fellow long time user, is the horrendous folder structures. Or is that just me? Having to decide what folder before I start and name that folder already. And not being able to put the folder of my song in a different folder, cause Cubase will lose track of where your music is, is not very friendly for jam sessions. How do you see that? Any tips?
@@skeletonmodel Try using a default Jam template that you launch every time you start a new song. Tweak this to your hearts content. Use the same default folder to work in. When you have something you like use the back up project feature to move that session to a new location. Rinse and repeat.
This is amazing... im in... cubase plus some of my favorite things from Live and S1. I just downloaded the trial and i think this is all i'll ever need.
When working on a laptop in Windows 11 with a resolution below 1080p, the mix console (at the bottom, where the notes are) falls under the taskbar when switching to chords, notes, and so on.
Still can't shuffle through a folder of samples with Sampler Track which is incredibly annoying. Every DAW Sampler has simple next/previous buttons that lets me go through the samples of a folder, only the Cubase one doesn't.
Nice but basic housekeeping items still missing such as batch-save a vsti's internal sound list to the media bay so sounds be visible there like it used to be for the fxl/fxb format.
I wonder if the Pattern sequencer can fire Midi Notes instead of playing the Sample this way you could trigger Maschine or Battery and possibly come up woth some inspiration through the randomize function.
One feature i 'd like to see is the support of m4a files. Many people are sending me their songs by recording them in their cellphones and i have to convert them to mp3 in a third party platform and then import in cubase.
So I bought the 14 update largely because of the addition of DAWPROJECT support. I was sad to see that it does not seem to support the transfer of tempo maps. Is the in the product roadmap or is there a workaround? I have an orchestral mockup in Studio One with a tempo map and it did not import into Cubase 14.
I was excited for the full mix console but now that I bought I see I can’t make the faders smaller so every time I have to mess with the inserts I basically have to resize the mix console. Why not let resize as much as we want? 🥲
What they should've added Automate last touched parameter Undo and redo for VSTi (I remember using that In Cubase 12) using the mix console or edit functions for the same Midi Strum (logic, FL Studio, Studio One, Ableton all have this) The Ability to share Macros as a standalone file for these can be imported directly. To replicate a macro right now requires you to manually arrange key commands and Logical Editor Presets for them to work. Batch renaming of Audio and Midi Events to match track name This would've really been a solid set of updates. I'm running the demo right now and so far I haven't come across this.
change the grace period. people arent happy that you didnt include the time you had the 40th anniversary..😢 really want these features but i used all my savings to buy cubase 13 pro
have they fixed the sampler so that it isn't a useless buggy gimmick? Have they fixed the default MIDI recording so that notes land in the right place ( I'm waiting 20 years for this to be fixed ) ?
If you upgrade from Elements 13 to 14, do you get any of the new features, or is it of no benefit. The cost of upgrade is only £25, would I be upgrading though just for the version number. Cubase is not my first DAW of choice, I already have FL studio, Studio 1, Reason 13, Mixcraft 10 and Ableton Live 12 Suite.
As a former Cubase user I am mainly interested in the DAWproject function to transfer older projects. Or perhaps do something in Cubase that is easier to do there before I export it. So I have downloaded the demo. The DAWproject is buggy. Most of the insert effects are not properly exported. Whether Studio One or Cubase is to blame is hard to say. But since DAWproject was developed by Bitwig in colab with Presonus, my guess is Cubase is not fully ready yet.
Bought my Cubase 13 in late September. It still felt a bit raw and clunky, but at least they fixed that ridiculous "only first two inserts visible" feature by the moment I bought it. And now, even less than two months later, Cubase 14? Not 13.5? That's just sad, to be honest. I know, I know, people have to earn a living. But the sense of disappointment is justified and there will only be less trust if it keeps going like that.
Cubase 13 has not been great for me; ,MANY crashes and instability that I did not have with previous versions. And they also got rid of Prologue, Spector, and Mystic starting with v12...IMO these sounded much better than Retrologue.
it's just the worse sort of gimmick software developement, don't understand their audience... yeah give us free gimmicks but not to the neglect of the core product which is massively outdated and flawed... Looks amazing! Please consider adding region automation as well! Like Logic Pro and FL studio, it's so nice to have blocks of automation that you can copy paste, move around and even stretch. And keep it up with the video's Dom!
Cubase took the best features from other DAWs and implemented it into it, without a doubt this is the most complete, most charming, most interesting DAW to explore, create and be happy with, I use Cubase and I will never abandon it!
Yup, definitely some Studio One score view functionality here is this upgrade (I use S1 and Cubase). I think it is great. All daw's improving through cross -fertilizaiton. What more could we ask for because in the end we all win.
Cubase 13 was barely just released not even a year ago or barely just.... And we're already getting another version? It doesn't come out cheap if you want to stay with the latest ans greatest.
Such complaints from some! Steinberg has been around forever. If they wanted to throw everything at you, they probably could. But if that was the case, we would only have Cubase 1. MIDI is massively more powerful than working with audio... that's the evolution of music since the 80's... but somehow this was misunderstood in the transition from MIDI sequencing software to DAW...
In Cubase 13 and 14, the font in some texts is really small. I just want to enlarge the font a little bit. Scaling in Cubase enlarges all of the cubase visuals, which I don't want that. This would've really been a solid set of updates.
I'm running the demo right now and so far I haven't come across this.
You can rename all events on an audio/midi track by holding shift and return after you enter the name
wdym? cubase does have the write automation for the touched parameter
Major!
Since you added deum machine, Can we have a modular sequencer in further updatess?
