So he asks why Filipinos do not pack their own groceries@7:46. Well, because we are not an egalitarian society. We have a service oriented culture. Have you noticed how many households, not necessarily rich, have maids and nannies. Gas stations are not self-serve where employees would wipe your vehicle's windshields, check your tires, or people addressing others with "sir or ma'am." And one thing vloggers don't address so much is that we are a predominantly Catholic nation which separates us from our neighbors. Charity, therefore, is part and parcel of our character.
Filipinos don’t age well? I completely disagree lol unless you are a Filipino farmer/fisherman or any other manual laborer that has to bask under the sun for long hours while doing work, I guess most age well or at least okay until they hit their mid 60s. In comparison, we have observed that most Caucasians in their 30s onwards (despite their privileges - access to proper food nutrition, medical support, and so on) look so much older than their age especially the women, since men tend to have thicker skin so collagen loss is more obvious on women’s skin/appearance.
it seems that he is a specialist who studied the ageing of women in Asia... If he talks like this to women he needs more than 10 years to find an acceptable woman. I hope she will be the right one and take all his cash over the time to prevent her ageing 😂😂
Diet, exercise and genetics. It depends on the individual's lifestyle and perhaps somewhat dependent on the culture. Phillip has mentioned the "don't age well" comment on his channel before in regard to Filipinas. As an American, it made me cringe. Perhaps there is a cultural difference of being more laid back in the Philippines or lacking the money to eat better foods, but I cannot agree with generalizing all the people of a country like that. There are plenty of beautiful older Filipinas. And there are plenty of people in all countries who do not age well.
I Think what he meant that Filipinos don't age well beacuse they don't take care of themselves especially women when they get married they tend to eat a lot of rice and get fatter and their reasoning is they gave birth compared to other Asian Countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos.
Heey! Thanks for the compliments, mate. I'm a Filipino, born and raised in Manila, I watch vlogs about Visayas and Mindanao because I plan to retire down south. I'm still not decided where but definitely not Cebu City. Probably Dumaguete, Siquijor, Bantayan, MoalBoal or somewhere in Mindanao.
I have visited and lived in both countries, the main reason I am in the Philippines is 1) Women 2) English, 3) VISA, and 4) to a lesser point Philippines is based on US policies and laws and concepts. Other than that, Thailand is much much better if that is what you wish 1) Food 2) infrastructure 3) women to lesser extent than Philippines. IMO
Well I’ve been to all Asian countries, different culture etc but Philippines who are educated and came from good background were more loyal and different, it’s hard to define it but something is different and not appropriate to talk in general sometimes.
Well we understand your concern about packing the groceries, just for infomation most of the owner or management of the store costumers are not allowed to pack the groceries they bought ,thats why they stand n wait the packers...
Great interview with an interesting bloke. Been to Cebu once but didn't stay long enough in the capital. Too busy checking out whale sharks and beaches. But it looked like a good prospect for a longer stay for sure. Haven't seen much of Thailand yet (Philippines 16 to Thailand 01) but I can empathise with Phillip regarding conversations. But I'm going the BKK next month and i know there's plenty of other fun stuff to do to compensate! BTW did you say Thailand was landlocked at the end of the video? Definitely not the case.
Hi, i think it's still depends on personal preference but the fact is Thailand is more preferrable and popular especially to expats coming from Europe, Russia and Australia in the 1st place but the Philippines attracts only expats from the United States(Americans)and Canada(Canadians). The peculiar thing is those expats who had hard time living and settling in Thailand before(like some Europeans, that guy you're talking with),decide to move to more lenient/lax country like the Philippines as their next destination🙂🙂🙂
@@jesscatangay9384 The fact is only tourists from South Korea and the United States of America were the Philippines expects much of its visitors but when it comes to other SEA countries, they attract much diverse foreign tourists in their countries(for example Thailand attracts much tourists from Malaysia, India, China, Russia, large tourists from European countries, Australia etc.)that's why it has 28M tourists of 2023 compared to 6M only in the Philippines...
Sidewalks are a mayor or local government thing. Those are funded usually by National money but the local government enforces rules on it. Usually they just get kickbacks from the vendors so they won’t get kicked out. Good interview.
Here in the US there are grocery that you do pack DIY and some they have packers, too. If that bothers him then he should avoid going to that grocery on peek day and at the busiest time of day. Sorry that is how Filipinos are. If you wanna do it just do it
Hello I am Indian. I have been to Thailand 2 times. I want to visit philippines. I will plan it out. I know its a very wrong question for any country except India but want to know how is the availability of vegetarian/vegan restaurants there in philippines?
You can cook your own foods. Or order it online, there are some vegetarian restaurant you just have to research it.There are also lots of indian communities in Philippines.
It depends on what you're looking for. No one lives under rocks anymore. Even with the english and easy visa, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are better options if you aren't looking for a relationship and marriage. But, you should visit for yourself to find out what floats your boat. Don't forget to take your brain with you, you'll need it in the Philippines!
Based on what? How can you just say that Malaysia and Vietnam are better with out giving any reasons??? I got the impression that people in Malaysia are actually much less interested in foreigners and less open to age gap relationships as well.

Hahaha. Are you kidding me? Malaysia is one of the most racist countries in the world. When you go around Malaysia, it feels like you're in India or Bangladesh. Average Thais and Viets could not even speak and write simple English. So, how could you socialize with these people?
Easy visa + more english speaking is a big + for PH. However when you get 50+ you can get a more "easy" visa long term in thailand. And i feel with everything else thailand have like more accommodation for you money, better infrastructure, "better" food...etc thailand wins. Take a girl from PH to thailand 👍 ☺
Being pilipino i choose Philippines, but i love to travel in other country specially indonesia, and thailand, korea i love india too because i want to experience a new things
Thanks for the video, does not matter which is better? Majority of these farangs and expats are going and flying back and forth to Thailand and Philippines vice versa as they can't make up their mind. Both countries have the same concepts as quality of life, nightlife and everything.
I lived and worked in both Thailand and Philippines as I get older infrastructure things like hospitals and ambulances medical care very important a heart attack or something serious in Philippines province you may not survive many people don’t this is one big difference from Thailand they have world class medical. Electricity and water in Philippines sucks not the cases in Thailand. If you want to buy something Philippines hard to find common things always out of stuck store’s restaurant etc not in Thailand
It all depends upon who and what you are! Thailand is more modern, the Philippines is 7,300 tropical islands and more old traditional Asia. Over %80 of the Philippines are farmers who still plow with oxen! When the SHTF most Filipinos won't even know it!
As a Westerner I believe that we all fall for the delicious chicken Adobo. Been loving it since my 1st trip to The Philippines in January 2000. Been there 7 times since, but been to Thailand 12 times since February '07. Which do I prefer? 🤔 Almost undecided. Also don't allow the language barrier's to get you down. Learn their languages beforehand. Don't be lazy and ignorant. Buy a phrasebook and revise daily and the language will develop.
you know wat's great now, ppl have options, like options of other countries to go to [*either as a tourist dest. or expat/retirement dest.], unlike yrs./decades ago where only 1 or 2 countries [*in a particular region of the world] have a monopoly in terms of tourism and expat/retirement dest. 🌏

Thailand makes it financially desirable to only 'visit' their country and actually ''live'' - 'elsewhere' - like Cambodia - or - the Philippines ! - - - Recently Thailand is making it even less desirable with quite greedy extra taxation of expats. (?) > "people go where they are treated best" -- so it will likely really cost the Thai Govt. !

I think there is 1 unavoidable factor that affects the infrastructure of both countries, geography. See, Thailand is one mass of a country with some very few isalnds, so travelling and maximizing the fund is not a problem. Philippines, on the otherhand has over 7,000 beautiful islands that need to be showcased. Of course, you need more bridges, sea ports, airports, etc. Lastly, geographical location comes with a different climate. Thailand has a more stable climate than the Philippines. And that of course helps dictate stability of infrastructure, allocation of funds and availability of transportation.
I wonder why infrastructure is an issue. This is not a problem I suppose if you go to Luzon. Why? Because Luzon provinces are bit more progressive compare to Mindanao and Visayas?
@@loidadauz1370 Are you ok it seems not ...ano yan akala mo kahit nasa luzon ka ang daming problema traffic lahat kaya nga tinawag na infrastructure ang hina ng utak mo
The reason pilipinos dont bag their own groceries is maybe the employee would be scolded by the supervisor!! Bec unlike in the wedtern countries that there is no baggers in your groceries!! Bec the labor cost there is very expensive and every body should be always in a hurry bec you should use your time effeciently!! Or you can made ends meet bec of very expensive vost of living!! One reason is the employee will be scolded by the management!! And management wont allow people to pack their own groceries bec if they do that the customer will not go back!!! They will go to other groceries were there is someone bagging their groceries!! Get it??? Its not that people here are always in a hurry to be effecient with their time!!

The Govt. in Thailand kind of sucks - making it hard to stay there unless you are rich and willing to meet their "financial requirements" ? -- The language is a barrier - the people aren't as friendly & the climate is very hot. -- I know people who prefer Cambodia to Thailand - who have lived years in both countries ! -- Being retired - I would much prefer Cambodia over Thailand and my personal alternative to the Philippines ! - - - From the US - I like Tagaytay as my #1 place to retire. -- Siem Reap is my second choice.

I'm Pilipino, working in cruise ship b4, About you say in Thailand, I'm agree
Ha ha I watch Phillip all the time. Great sense of humor.
I think he's comparing it to other Asian women. Not white women. 🤷
it seems that he is a specialist who studied the ageing of women in Asia...
I Think what he meant that Filipinos don't age well beacuse they don't take care of themselves especially women when they get married they tend to eat a lot of rice and get fatter and their reasoning is they gave birth compared to other Asian Countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos.
its because they sunbathe a lot
Good conversation ❤❤
I have visited and lived in both countries, the main reason I am in the Philippines is 1) Women 2) English, 3) VISA, and 4) to a lesser point Philippines is based on US policies and laws and concepts. Other than that, Thailand is much much better if that is what you wish 1) Food 2) infrastructure 3) women to lesser extent than Philippines. IMO
Filipinos don't want to touch the purchased items until it is packed in one piece. It's to avoid damaged goods issues and stealing accusations.
Phillip is a good guy
Well I’ve been to all Asian countries, different culture etc but Philippines who are educated and came from good background were more loyal and different, it’s hard to define it but something is different and not appropriate to talk in general sometimes.
Well we understand your concern about packing the groceries, just for infomation most of the owner or management of the store costumers are not allowed to pack the groceries they bought ,thats why they stand n wait the packers...
I like both countries and plan to retire in both splitting my years between the two.
Good interview alex.
Thank you 😁
Hey Alex, hope all is well brother. Good interview. See ya in April 🐸🙌
Yea I did say that. But you get my point compared to 7000 scattered islands
my first time to watch comparing 2 countries,as in!
For some the visa situation and language issues push people towards one or the other
PI has so many South Koreans visitors, vloggers and young expats.
If you wanna do it just do it
In Thailand he'll never need a supermarket. Ppl shop @ 7, buy street food, or eat in restaurants or small diners. Fresh fruit
Hello I am Indian. I have been to Thailand 2 times. I want to visit philippines. I will plan it out. I know its a very wrong question for any country except India but want to know how is the availability of vegetarian/vegan restaurants there in philippines?
Not much vegetarian in Philippines but lots of indian vegetarian in Thailand. Especially Pattaya Thailand im sure u know
@@kamalpreet3283 Yeah Thailand has lot many. At least vegan outlets can be found anywhere. I have not been to pattaya.
You can cook your own foods. Or order it online, there are some vegetarian restaurant you just have to research it.There are also lots of indian communities in Philippines.
It depends on what you're looking for.
No one lives under rocks anymore.
Even with the english and easy visa,
Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam are better options if you aren't looking for a relationship and marriage.
But,
you should visit for yourself to find out what floats your boat.
Don't forget to take your brain with you, you'll need it in the Philippines!
Based on what?
How can you just say that Malaysia and Vietnam are better with out giving any reasons???
I got the impression that people in Malaysia are actually much less interested in foreigners and less open to age gap relationships as well.

Also, the answers you're looking for are ALL over the Internet/youtube.
There's this guy named Google.

That's if she doesn't get offloaded and denied 🫣
Being pilipino i choose Philippines, but i love to travel in other country specially indonesia, and thailand, korea i love india too because i want to experience a new things
Thanks for the video, does not matter which is better? Majority of these farangs and expats are going and flying back and forth to Thailand and Philippines vice versa as they can't make up their mind. Both countries have the same concepts as quality of life, nightlife and everything.
Follow both of you 😄
Thank you 😁
@@Livingabroadalex you're welcome
I lived and worked in both Thailand and Philippines as I get older infrastructure things like hospitals and ambulances medical care very important a heart attack or something serious in Philippines province you may not survive many people don’t this is one big difference from Thailand they have world class medical. Electricity and water in Philippines sucks not the cases in Thailand. If you want to buy something Philippines hard to find common things always out of stuck store’s restaurant etc not in Thailand
Very well said, I like it very much, this is the truth of this world.

Weres best place to go for a newbie Cebu or Manila? Mainly going there to meet women
Thailand is much better than the Philippines in my opinion. Better food. Better infostructure. Better transport. Better internet. Better accommodation. Better value for money. I lived in Thailand for 5 years and I have spent 13 weeks in the Philippines over the last 2 years.
Thank you for sharing
Good for you! Good luck!

I didn't quite get his final answer, Philiipines is better?
Especially for age gap relationships?
He said it multiple times during the video. Yes, he prefers the Philippines. That's why he's been there 3 years. Compared to 3 weeks in Thailand.
@@Livingabroadalex Sorry but I didn't feel that he ever said it directly, and he kind of said he stayed so long because of lock downs but it wasn't his orginal plan. And he said he liked the building, and you had to remind him that's not what he's there for. Also he didn't make many direct comparisons. So it was a pretty interesting interview, but some of his answers were pretty inderect.
@amazonseller-yf8vv I hear you
And no need to be sorry 😊
The language is the .major factor why he prefers Philippines
@@Livingabroadalex Anyway thanks for clarifying. Personally I've been to Thailand, my sister used to live there and I don't think I'd like to live there, but i hope to come live in the Philipines sometime this summer.
@amazonseller-yf8vv hope you do and wish you an awesome trip
Thailand makes it financially desirable to only 'visit' their country and actually ''live'' - 'elsewhere' - like Cambodia - or - the Philippines ! - - - Recently Thailand is making it even less desirable with quite greedy extra taxation of expats. (?) > "people go where they are treated best" -- so it will likely really cost the Thai Govt. !
People, food, accommodation, beaches, nightlife, Thailand is in the house
Is there a pount to the Philippines aside from the low cost and age gap relationships? Could a married couple move there and be happy on their 4k a month and not hitting up the younger women?
Why does this guy keep using the word "LOVELY"? That's what ladies use to describe something MAN UP BRO!!

Heyooo!! Awesome
I’m a Filipina but prefer living in Thailand
Mr. Bigg the Chelsea fan
Thailand for me ... 4 years in Philippines, and now 7 years in Thailand. One word - Infrastructure !
I’m Filipino and been to Thailand i agree with you…Food in Thailand are more cheaper also
I wonder why infrastructure is an issue.
That's nonsense because when you come from a western country the infrastructure there is much better but you moved to Thailand.
Not even close Thailand wins huge
Thank god Philip cut his hair, he looks 100% better! No glasses either!
Oh interesting. I have to check out some of his videos and see what he looked like before 🤭
This man gets frustrated on something he is not used to. He needs a life to enjoy
he needs to go home and enjoy UK. You do not go to a country and try to change the country
Customer just wait until your groceries inside the bag.
What have you got to contribute to the people? Except your bargaining power?

There is wide social acceptance of prostitution in Thailand,. It is estimated that 560,000 people are living with HIV in Thailand, according to statistics.

Philip is looking for his other half BUT he is a perfectionist so it’s very unlikely he will ever pick just one filipina

please stop comparing the philippines to thailand, because the country of thailand is more developed than the philippines,, thailand's close competitors are vietnam and malaysia and indonesia, only natural beauty is beautiful in the philippines but infra, transportaion, health care is still being developed
The Govt. in Thailand kind of sucks - making it hard to stay there unless you are rich and willing to meet their "financial requirements" ? -- The language is a barrier - the people aren't as friendly & the climate is very hot. -- I know people who prefer Cambodia to Thailand - who have lived years in both countries ! -- Being retired - I would much prefer Cambodia over Thailand and my personal alternative to the Philippines ! - - - From the US - I like Tagaytay as my #1 place to retire. -- Siem Reap is my second choice.

as a 50yr old british retired banker i've lived in both thailand and the philippines and PI is way better because they dont treat you like a second class citizen here. thailand assumes farangs are all criminals on the lam and you have to "report to the immigration office" every 90 days like a paroled felon.the thai immigration bureau is run by the same team that drew up the nuremberg race laws in nazi germany. i refused to put up with shabby second class citizen treatment eventually and moved to PI.
