But almost zero human interaction due to language barrier unless you only go with expats then might as well stay in your country. Cheap country may be a game changer for you.

Being married to a Filipina, I’m frequently surrounded with Filipinos and women that are kidding around with me, singing, cooking and trying to make sure that I’m having a great time. Like what the heck? Why are they so great?
It’s really the people in the Philippines or in any country where there’s a strong subculture. They just port their culture to the western country and are great there as well.

Language as the deciding factor - that’s fair and frequently mentioned. I’ve lived in Thailand for 7 years. I’m fine with the language barrier. My Thai wife speaks English, there are other expats in the area, and there are the occasional Thai that speaks English. I can speak a little Thai but I am not conversational. Everything else here I love.
After years of following some of the UA-cam vloggers in the Philippines though I can’t say that the rest of life in the Philippines sounds appealing. A quick island vacation, OK. Living there, No.

The issue with packing your groceries.. it's more like a culture thing.. The stores are hiring packers.. we call them baggers.
It would be great if people start packing their own things.. However, because there have been baggers since forever.. I'm thinking that people are more afraid of touching the groceries because if they break something, the store won't replace it.. unlike if their own employee break something, the customers are entitled for replacement item.
Breakage, warranty, returns.. these things are difficult to deal with in the Philippines.. unlike in other countries like UK, Australia, etc.. people have more consumer rights.

You are right, bro… communications with the international language which is “English” is the most important when visiting a country. There’s no fun if you visit a country that couldn’t understand you on your first step out of the plane, unless you brought different language books that will help you communicate a bit.

When you get old, medical care becomes much more important. Thailand medical care, even out in the boonies is very good. There is nothing wrong with government hospitals. Waiting times will be longer but the cost is MUCH cheaper and the care is very good. Serious injuries and illness is taken care of quickly, as in no waiting.

I understand some old guys have given up on learning anything like a new language because theyre old and tired. If thats the case, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and the PI will be better for you because of the prevalence of English. Some of these people stay in Southeast Asia for several years though; its not hard to become conversational in any of the languages including Viet if you are there that long.

30 years in advance? Have u been to Eastwood, Aseana, Rockwell, and BGC? Thailand has no proper CBD. To say that the Philippines is 30 years behind Thailand is just preposterous. Also, the Philippines will surpass the economies of Singapore and Thailand in a couple of years. I think you're comparing provincial cities to Bangkok. Thailand is failing in developing its economy despite the fact it has never been colonized for hundreds of years unlike the Philippines.

So he asks why Filipinos do not pack their own groceries@7:46. Well, because we are not an egalitarian society. We have a service oriented culture. Have you noticed how many households, not necessarily rich, have maids and nannies. Gas stations are not self-serve where employees would wipe your vehicle's windshields, check your tires, or people addressing others with "sir or ma'am." And one thing vloggers don't address so much is that we are a predominantly Catholic nation which separates us from our neighbors. Charity, therefore, is part and parcel of our character.

Filipinos don’t age well? I completely disagree lol unless you are a Filipino farmer/fisherman or any other manual laborer that has to bask under the sun for long hours while doing work, I guess most age well or at least okay until they hit their mid 60s. In comparison, we have observed that most Caucasians in their 30s onwards (despite their privileges - access to proper food nutrition, medical support, and so on) look so much older than their age especially the women, since men tend to have thicker skin so collagen loss is more obvious on women’s skin/appearance.

Diet, exercise and genetics. It depends on the individual's lifestyle and perhaps somewhat dependent on the culture. Phillip has mentioned the "don't age well" comment on his channel before in regard to Filipinas. As an American, it made me cringe. Perhaps there is a cultural difference of being more laid back in the Philippines or lacking the money to eat better foods, but I cannot agree with generalizing all the people of a country like that. There are plenty of beautiful older Filipinas. And there are plenty of people in all countries who do not age well.

I Think what he meant that Filipinos don't age well beacuse they don't take care of themselves especially women when they get married they tend to eat a lot of rice and get fatter and their reasoning is they gave birth compared to other Asian Countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Laos.

I lived and worked in both Thailand and Philippines as I get older infrastructure things like hospitals and ambulances medical care very important a heart attack or something serious in Philippines province you may not survive many people don’t this is one big difference from Thailand they have world class medical. Electricity and water in Philippines sucks not the cases in Thailand. If you want to buy something Philippines hard to find common things always out of stuck store’s restaurant etc not in Thailand

Been there 7 times since, but been to Thailand 12 times since February '07. Which do I prefer? 🤔 Almost undecided. Also don't allow the language barrier's to get you down. Learn their languages beforehand. Don't be lazy and ignorant. Buy a phrasebook and revise daily and the language will develop.

    • @athenstar10
      @athenstar10 9 місяців тому +8

I think there is 1 unavoidable factor that affects the infrastructure of both countries, geography.
See, Thailand is one mass of a country with some very few isalnds, so travelling and maximizing the fund is not a problem. Philippines, on the otherhand has over 7,000 beautiful islands that need to be showcased. Of course, you need more bridges, sea ports, airports, etc.
Lastly, geographical location comes with a different climate. Thailand has a more stable climate than the Philippines. And that of course helps dictate stability of infrastructure, allocation of funds and availability of transportation.

Bec the labor cost there is very expensive and every body should be always in a hurry bec you should use your time effeciently!! Or you can made ends meet bec of very expensive vost of living!! One reason is the employee will be scolded by the management!! And management wont allow people to pack their own groceries bec if they do that the customer will not go back!!! They will go to other groceries were there is someone bagging their groceries!! Get it??? Its not that people here are always in a hurry to be effecient with their time!!
