My university friend is a proudly unapologetic Muslim girl(as she should be),she's an academic representative and studies law. She's so bad-ass and I admire her love for what she practices and believes despite the fact that her own "roommates " didn't want her in the dorm since she's Muslim. Let me tell you,SHE DOESN'T CARE AND SHE WILL KEEP PROGRESSING. QUEEN FR. I'm very happy you're speaking about this, and I know there's a ot more that's happening which should be pulled into the spotlight.
Ha ha let me educate you. Have you ever watched parasakthi movie in 1952? It depicted a Hindu Brahmin as a villain. Have you watched so many Kamal's movies including the Uttama villain which put a metaphor for "Hari" as "sori"? There are several instances like that and you don't see any Hindus complaining. When movies depicts muslim as bad guys, they don't mean the entire religion is bad. In simple words don't be a cry baby. There are so many movies even in Hollywood questioning and mocking Christianity and Hinduism. That's how society progresses.
When i was on 11th grade (2 years before) i live in karnataka, suddenly the government came with a new rule not to allow hijab in class and my school totally agreed with it and forced us to remove hijab and we students ended up doing strike in our own school for basic right of wearing hijab😭
"You cannot paint the Mona Lisa with blood and call it a masterpiece " -extremely true words. I have to say that you have changed many people’s perspective on what the media has normalised and given them a new viewpoint on the truth. After seeing this video I started to think and realised the manipulative trap the media drags us into. Truly have to say that you make an impact or make someone’s day in every single one of your videos. Thank you ✨
Back in 2019 i was taking home tution for a Muslim kid who was 8 years old. When pulwama attack happened his classmates asked him like " Neenga laa yen mathaavangala kola panringa " He was so sad. He told me this. And i wrote a complaint letter to his class teacher explaining what happened and they should apologize to him for this incident. But his father refused to forward that complaint to his teacher as it would create more animosity towards him. He was upset the whole day. Please teach your kids to be kind towards everyone. Let's promote understanding and empathy towards all cultures and religions. It's important to educate ourselves and break down stereotypes to build a more inclusive and compassionate world.
@@Flying_Spaghetti_Monsterrwe hate idol worshipping because as Muslims we can put idols and Allah in the same level. But we don't and can't hate someone just because they worship idols. We don't have the rights to instill our wants and needs on someone.. and fyi, we never said there's god in temple.. unlike some people who tells there's lingam in the kaabah.. what kinda blasphemy is that? That's disrespecting too..
viboothi, senthuram mari hijab um avanga culture nu solli valakkanum i've heard a lot of "paavam pa muslim ponnunga " buahaha jokes on you enaa every muslim women that i came across so far laam they're so strong, talkative and have this beautiful bond w their mother. i was even bullied for having crush on a muslim boy loved this video of yours shageel
As a hindu I’m sorry but I didn’t even realize until you pointed this out… my classmates used to feel sorry for the muslim girl who wore hijab, bc it was always tightly pinned with several clips to last the seven hour school day. Another girl would wear the hijab as jus a shawl around her neck bc it was a really hot climate and those same people would talk behind her back about how she’s uncultured and doesn’t care about her religion. We were all 17 or 18 at the time
Discrimination has been sugarcoated so well in tamil cinemas, even after many many years we're still treated like "The intruders"by the ppl in the same society.. I was actually waiting for someone to talk about these messed up things on internet but Nobody has any guts to,Tysm for voicing out.
i feel so thankful for you that you spoke abt this, you really spilled all the emotions which i really wanted to ....all the words u conveyed were extremely right. may allah bless you with immense peace in dunya and the after life , and the strength to face all the difficulties .
Shakeel, what you talked was in my mind for past 15 years 😢 bro u just created an revolution in people's thought. May Allah grant you more knowledge, Aameen ❤ You nailed it 🎉
Shakeel, I have this one very close muslim frnd. I am a hindu, but tbh I loved their culture. I repeatedly told her how cute she looks in a hijab, and she even made me try it. I frequently asked her questions about Islamism, and she would answer me too. Wat she said one day shattered me. "Unaku intha muslim culture paaka weird ah illaya?". Apo than i fucking realized that, oh ipdithaan society ivala ninaka vachruka nu. I still love her and muslims to this day.. 🫂 Kudos to you shakeel for making this video apart from your regular genre, really appreciate it! 🫀
Story 1 : my Muslim classmate has a crush on a Hindu girl, it is just a crush nothing else, just a guy falling in love with a girl. one day my friends were normally talking about this and one of my friends said soon you will find her inside the fridge ( with reference to the murder case of shraddha walkar ) and everyone started to laugh. Story 2: one of my muslim friend is not so financially stable and was living alone in a rented flat for 6 months. Since the rent is high, he decided to shift with my other 2 friends. And when he asked them whether he could stay with them, they gave him some silly excuse. One day I decided to ask them why they weren't allowing him to stay with them he said he's Muslim and I don't want him to stay with me. I said no matter what his religion is, At the end of the day he's a human who needs help. He was silent with no reply It's so sad that even your own friends talk like this. People are conditioned to think in this way, because of one person they are shaming the entire community and now they are conditioning their kids as well. Thank you Shakeel for pointing this out, I hope your video reaches the targeted audience :)
Even i have had friends who have made me feel about being my religious identity. It hurts even more when it comes from people whom you considered “friends”
finally, someone had the guts to bring up this matter. I've gone through these kind of stuff since I was very young. when i was in 3rd grade a girl asked if i had a gun in house. a "8 YEAR OLD" girl asked me if i had a gun in my house just cuz i was a Muslim. all of these thoughts roots up from these kind of movies where Muslims are constantly potraited as terrorists or the "bad guy". it's so frustrating. i recently noticed a bunch of kids playing a game where the catcher is a "muslim- terroist" who kills people touching them (similar to the ice-and-water game we used to play) where do you think this is coming from? movies have a huge impact on people's mind, y'all should understand that I'm so proud of you shakeel for bringing this up

Mad respect to you Shakeel! Thank you for speaking about this with your platform with facts and laying out them in a way that how sneakily everything shown/covered by media/art to be internalised by people! "You cannot paint monalisa with blood and call it masterpiece!" More power to you !! We owe the entire minority community a huge apology for showing them, stereotyping them as someone who needed to be feared. I am sorry that no film maker chose to have a better brains to conceive a realistic portrayal of the Muslims. And thank you for highlighting on Israel and Palestinian issue as well. No-one knows or even bothers to know about history. This is not a 2023 issue it started from 1948!!!! And even if it's a 2023 issue, noone can justify killing of so many children and orphaning them by killing their parents in the name of anything. We have blood in our hands and seeing genocide happening right in front of our eyes! All I can say is, again, much respect for bringing this up and talking about it. I hope we change, I hope we deny these Islamophobic contents platform or a success so that atleast then the actors would grow brains to choose a better script!
And also about CAA and people who are in agreement with it! I cannot even imagine how come it's meaningful to even accept. It's a clear discriminating, divisive thing that is there now along with many others and people are okay with it! We are so groomed and conditioned to believe the words without even paguthu aaraanjifying the factors that are hidden inside it!

Okay story time, this happened few months ago when me and my friends were having a heated political argument. It was my bestfriend and time to time we like to have intellectual convos which often ends up with us having a good time only this time he was a right wing supporter. I was talking about how the their ideas were basically Islamophobic and how threatening it is to live life as a minority under such governance. As the conversation shifted to NRC and CAA, I was telling him how the bill was a propoganda to make india as a one religion nation, he straight up went like "India is hindu nation, y'all don't belong here in the first place, you shud just move to pakistan if it's bothering you". I went speechless. As someone who has never been impacted w direct racism from childhood, this broke my heart especially coming from my bestfriend w whom I studied 'Unity and diversity' in grade 10. Never felt so out of place in my home. thanks for bringing this up, shakeel. much needed one. you're amazing ❤️ Ps. to everyone who's turning an blind eye to what's happening in Palestine, Kashmir, and (god forbid) India, it's just a matter of time that this could happen to you too, on a different front. Free Palestine 🍉 xx
Asslamualaikum brother, i am one of the muslims who gone through so much of such experience in life and most bad thing is some people didn't even know that is racist or wrong and they think it's the norm. then i found out what is the root cause and i found out it's lack of awareness of people in reality. so i started to use all my social media platforms to show awareness about the reality of how muslims are and what opposite parties trying to portray about someone which is not true. may allah give us the power to fight those evils in the world. thanks for doing such videos because even i thought if i post those things in social media in my personal account how people gonna think about me and i had some friends who were sanghi that i came to know later but still today i am doing posting every posts and stories related the evil things happening to the muslim community in india and all over the world.

Inga ella religion la um men ku vena rules diiferent ah irukalam, but women ku exceptions eh kedayathu, Hinduism, islam, christianity nu ellathulaum women ah oppress panra maari thaan rules iruku. And yen hijab potaley paavamla ngra feel varudhuna, I have never seen my muslim friends wearing it because "they like it", In somehow or the other way, it is being forced on them and as a girl it haunts me (I don't believe in ANY religion) but again ithu naan kannaala paatha personal experience mattum thaan. *IF a girl wants to wear hijab after knowing everything about it, IT IS HER CHOICE and that should be respected.*
This is not about this video, but I felt like telling you this, I showed my mom your vendhayam curry video and she told how sweet and patient you are and she kept praising you on how well-mannered you were. We made it it the next day, and we lovedd it
The Israel- Palestine issue is so true. People fix stereotypes that are fiercely resistant to change, even in the face of new information. It doesn't just show stubbornness, but the inability to change for the better. We claim of social, economic, cultural, progress and prowess, but why does it feel like we're all walking backwards? There's almost no or little change in the society's social outlook. It's distressing when people use resources or social platforms to wreck havoc, and for perpetuating existing inequalities, instead of putting them to good use. Either way, this was a topic that HAD to be put out in the open. This was such an amazingly thought provoking video. Hopefully, things change through the ravages of time. Thank you so much for doing this. As a Humanities stream student, whose study almost entirely revolves around themes like these, I'm really glad. (Because there are less people who actually step up, and take an attempt at change, instead of waiting around for someone to do so.)
Mahn you nailed it, as a Muslim girl, I wear niqab and no one forced me, it's just my choice, I wear it coz I feel comfortable with it but my classmates keeps coming around asking isn't it hard for you, why can't you be like us??... They think my parents force me, but it is not, I always say them still they come around me asking the same... But on the other hand some got inspired and started wearing it too, I am happy for them Alhamdulillah And Jazakallahu khairan for bringing this topic up ❤
Jazakhallahu khairan ❤... I have thought so many times that y nobody talks abt this.. Y everyone looks down on hijab y ppl feel sorry for muslim girls wearing hijab.. If they don't understand, better they should not talk.. The hijab, it was our identify, our right.. Y do ppl care if they dont get it.. But alhamdulillah u have made it shakeel... ❤❤❤
I've faced this situation in my college time where i was often called as Terrorists by my fellow classmates and asked me to leave for Pakistan eventhough I was born and raised in south Tamil Nadu with Tamil-speaking Muslim Family. It was very hard for me in my teenage days eventhough i was not that much religious those kinda stereotypes completely changed my own religious perspectives and become more religious because of that. I definitely should thank them they completed changed me a person as a whole There is a quote in Quran too, He guides who needed exactly at that time so it was happened to me exactly like that. Subhan Allah. Even everyone hates me just because i have a Muslim name and especially Muhammad in first name that doesn't automatically makes me a Terrorist i want to share to my fellow non-Muslim brothers and sisters.
I remember very well, my frnd asking me if i was a terrorist... after watching some random news.... i would never forget that in my life. She asked me infront of all my frnds out of which i was the only muslim girl.. 😢😢😢
Idk what made you to open up but definitely you nailed it. This is something that has to be heard and said loud. Do contents like this i mean talk about something unsaid, it'll be worth InSha Allah
Thank you for talking about this shakeel and I don't think anyone would have said this better than you! I feel like bollywood and the tamil cinema were the one who has been trying to portray these religious stuff for ages and ages and our people never stopped glorifying this concept. As we are in a country which idolizes cine stars, things would never change, people barely thinks, thalaivar enna sonnalum, senjalum sari nu irupaanga. And we hijabis are never oppressed thank you, we are happy to wear it and please don't question the one who doesn't wear either! You don't really have to show your opinions on anything guys, we are here in this country for years,we ain't from the Persians or the Pakistans we are here, that's it. Please grow up!
Shakeel ...i m nt a muslim ...but i am from an oppressed caste ...i can probably relate to you with the ideology....to live a life peacefully or a life that we aspire in this society is tough....really appreciate your efforts ...keep gng ❤
They really be coming up asking "unna paatha paavama irukku, veetla force panraanga thalaila adhu poda" bro enakku venu naa podren unna enna da na bother pannen. Btw hats off brother. This video needs more attention.
Ok story time...A friend of mine asked me why can't I be like those Muslim woman who is not wearing hijab and feeling free (those girlies you see in internet and media) and she told me to tell my parents that muslim woman without hijab exists and then I explained about everything for a while hour yet I guess there is no change ....I mean.....gurl I'm completely alright with what I am and I'm completely grateful and blessed for gatekeeping ma hair and everything 💅✨
2:29 I'm Hindu religion and I have one clg friend she also Hindu religion. She said to me that she( Muslim girl)looks like a ghost when she is walking. Then I warned my friend not to speak like that .. but she didn't care. I don't like her she is so selfish.😢
I'm not a from the minority, but I can understand it because there aren't more people of us together... We people are scattered... Its totally true that people ask too many questions like we are forced to do our practices.. it's none of their business but they still act like we are been oppressed... I'm really glad some one spoke about this....
Bro, i didn't experience racism during my school days and those friends were good to me but when I reached out from my school, i learnt about the situation in our day to day lives, the racist memes on insta and other media had shown to the vast majority of the audience, it had made people to show/ portray Muslims in a negative role. In a community level i had tried to teach others about how Islam works and they did understand but I had an idea to show it publicly, you did the work bro, thanks a lot.. peace
Finally someone spoke about this issue. This sort of prejudication about a community has been bothering me even tho im not a Muslim ( all three religions has been mixed im my family ). Thanks bro. We need more vids like these.❤
Exactly how I felt. I did comment on a lot of social media platforms about this only to get replies like " go back to Pakistan" bro I'm a devotee Tamil Brahmin who reads reads Gita and vedas everyday 😂 😂 people think Muslims ku thana pretchanai enaku ena vanduchu nu. The problem is actually the mindset. Nobody deserves to be discriminated. Iniku Muslims ku nadadkradhu 50 years kalichu avanoda community nu nadakalam. It's about humanity. And I'm ashamed to say Indians have lost humanity. It pains me to watch people comment Jai shree raam on every freaking video on international platforms. Makes us look like barbarians.our religion is not our whole identity Hinduism is my religion Indian is my nationality since when did it become the same 😢😮.
Ima a teen Hijabi who studies in Muslim country, recently a Senior (gr.12) girl got married in my skool and it wus a very hot news around d skool and once me and my frnds were talking and a Chirstian frnd of mine said that the senior got married early becuz she wus a "Muslim" nd asked me if I will get married young too, after explaining her nut every Muslim woman get married early I asked her what made her ask dis she told me that "Isn't that huw it is in Movies?", I wus totally out of words. And not to mention dis is js one incident. I feel like its abt time to change huw d Movies (especially Indian movies) potrate Muslims in movies showing smthg which is completely nut true js to add a fun element.
Its sad how, many of you us relate even a teen girl like me , when i was young in 7th std ig there was talk going on about bringing up CAA,NRC (soon covid started )and my classmates two of them where like "why do you live here ??you belong to Pakistan, you should go to your homeland ". Just ik how painful it felt (tho i dont remember it clearly but this wt she said and meant). Hats 🎩 of to shakeel anna for choosing to guide the community and speaking facts on behalf of all the minorities, this wt exactly we all think but never choose to speak out
righty said shakeel bro, yaarum idha perusa eduthukuradhilla., until or unless they suffer ., correct ah dhan pesirkinga. ppl should change . i think neenga edutha indha decision like idha theriyapaduthanumnu is absolutely right .
As a Hindu girl this video made me realize a few things like as u mentioned Arabic kuthu, I used to enjoy that song a lot but when u made the accusation of discrimination, at first my opinion was like it was just a song in some foreign language but later when I thought would I accept the same scenario if the language used was Sanskrit instead of Arabic? that was not funny and normal in this Pov. speaking of religion discrimination particularly Muslim community, I felt Annapoorni movie clearly proved your point. In many movies like maanadu , the lead character was criticized and ill- treated becoz he was a muslim, that did not erupt any kind of issues but when a Hindu girl with a great passion cooked biryani wearing a hijab (respecting another culture) was considered provocative and unethical by Hindus and all other good things portrayed in the movie was not considered and the movie was banned as if that was a huge crime. That really was shameful behavior. we say India is a diverse country where an individual has their right to follow the religion of their wish, but such incidents are living proof that India has not developed at all.
Bro iam telling you, this is one of the most favorite type of shakeel I wanted to see for a long time, the way you see the issues in your own perspective is awesome and I can relate to you so much... keep this countinuing ✊️✨️👍 Shakeel supremacy ❤
Good video at the right time. In the recent times , the hatred towards islam and all the muslims as a whole is very high on social media like reddit and Twitter. I'm fed up with people accusing and mocking the whole community.
It was 2011/2012, I was in class 6, history class la Aurangazeeb pathi class eduthutu irundhanga and my friend straight up asked me “Neenga ellam en d ipdi irukinga, chi” I couldn’t comprehend what was happening, Aurangazeeb pannadhuku Na Enna panna mudiyum and by saying “Neenga ellam” what do you mean girl? This question bothers me till date🫤
I feel bad to hear this but at the same time I'm surprised that ppl are doing these rubbish things still now ? In this era ? Reading u r comment only I realised how normal we (me nd my frnd) my schl and clg mates were,we never treated ur Muslim frnds as an odd one coz we never thought in that angle as if they were strange . I was really really surprised to hear wht u have gone through.
Damnn never thought about this in this way i generally don't consider religious i believe we are just humans at the end of the day and people follow the religions they like which is non of our business but in the back of my mind i always thought Muslim women were oppressed...i just finished school i always used to think why my classmates who are Muslims wore hijabs and stuff in summer wouldn't that be uncomfortable blah blah..but i never thought what if they wanted to..but in some cases some Muslim women can't avoid even if they wanted to like you said some are still oppressed doesn't mean everyone we see is oppressed
Recently i've started wearing hijab since ramadan(by my choice) and the first question one of my classmates asked was "were you forced to wear this??" And i felt so bad about that.
Yeah, it's true. After my 12th standard, I started loving the religion of Islam and tried to follow it in Tamil Nadu. However, my friends always see me wearing a hijab and think I am a slave. It's not like that; I have explained to them many times that Allah says to cover my head as a part of my modesty, but they can't understand it.but I understand them when they wear pottu, flowers, etc., in class times without any explaination. Finally, I found one person on UA-cam who speaks about my sufferings!!🙂
Thank you for speaking up about this shakeel I'm not muslim but I've thought about this so much whenever some one disrespects a religion and most of them being disrespectful towards islam and its not just In Tamil cinema. if you ever think about disrespecting muslims think about how you'd feel if that same thing happened to your religion, it's not about how much disrespectful the movie is, saying it was not even that disrespectful is never okay, to someone that respects their religion so much even the small thing that you say will hurt them and you don't have a opinion to say how disrespectful or bad it was. And a small memory that I have with my muslim friend was when I tried hijab for the first time as a hindu, I saw how much love and respect she had for wearing hijab, and it'll be a core memory for both of us. I'll send this video to her :D
and whenever i discuss this with my classmates or friends, one of the questions i get is, ' why do u even care as you're nonbeliever and just a muslim by name?'. Like that matters. whether a person is believer or not, they still belong to the community, and it affects them one way or other.
Bro chose to voice out about something which everyone in the media should . Hatsoff , The perspective you sowed , Glad u spoke abt this! Respectfully Shut up ! 🫡 This Shakeel ❤️ Avlo dhain !
Scl la when I was 6th or 7th std ig.. one of my frnds used to wear hijab..idk y i thought it was "paavam"..I said her "I'm so sorry u have to wear this" nu..aprm she explained "idhu forced ila.. I'm privileged to wear this enaku aasai idhu enoda identity ah idhu irukadhu la I'm proud.. Muslims idhu wear panradhu bad men oda evil eyes kita irundhu protection mari dhan PRIVILEGED ah wear panrom" apdi nu..and apola irundhu endha Muslim girl paathu enaku apdi thonunadhum ila..avunga idhu wear panradhukaga pavama portray panalum I stood up for them❤ so grateful that my frnd made me understand
Misrepresentation in Tamil cinema is not only restricted to muslims. There are more in the list. India is divided into various caste and religion. Such stereotypes includes Regressive muslim families, voiceless dalit people, obscene upper caste women, christians as serial killers and drug lords. Those who are left out from this misrepresentation were the ones benifited from such stereotypes. Keep guessing.
even i have experienced this during my 7th grade when thuppaki movie released.my friends bullied me and told me that ill become a terrorist when i grow up. that was traumatizing for me💔💔💔
As I have been living in a Muslim country as a resident I haven’t come across discrimination based on religion. But I’m aware of ruthless racism around the world.. May Allah help and guide us all. He s sufficient. Respect all community. Nice video mahn ❤
when i was in my final yr of my college i just said somethings about haram and halal odaney one of my frnds goes nallavela na muslim ah porakkala but i laughed hard discussing this with my muslim frnds Alhamdulillah for being a muslim ❤️❤️
I wasn't wearing hijab in 2022 and all ,I started wearing it in 2023 and still now alhamdulillah, by seeing me some of my Muslim friends started wearing but then a teacher suddenly started asking why are you wearing, why u gys being like this like oppressed, don't u feel hot while wearing etc.. and even told us to remove but I fighted as much I can to explain that we are not forced to wear this, it was my own decision to wear but still she didn't understood not only her most of the teacher in our school ask about this from that day my Muslim friend stopped wearing hijab,I advised them not to take it off but they got scared as she was asking question by question ... (Guys Don't take off ur hijab just because someone questions u or tells u that u are oppressed u know what and why u are wearing it so,u have ur own decision choose it wisely and also for the ones who are afraid of wearing hijab that they won't look good in it or people will say anything blah blah blah etc.. see u don't want to please the people u should please Allah, people will not accept u even if u saved their life but Allah is not like the people so live for Allah not for the people)
Yeah i faced especially after the rise of 1 political party...my own friend we were sitting near to each other right from 5th std to 10th in school we were still in touch when the issue of genocide of p@lestiné started in g@z@ i do posted a story stoping the génocide that guy called me as terrosist and Pakistani i don't know when he joined a political party...like i wonder with what sought of image he had all these years about me in his mind and now it all suddenly busted i just stoped talking with him after that ...and all the common friends we had im trying to avoid as well
You nailed it Shakeel👌 this is a very controversial topic which people scared to talk about.. you open up this... Happy for you.. may Allah guide all of us towards the right path
💯💯 one of the many reasons why this is happening is, nama Muslim people key ithu pathi lam kavala kedayathu.. intha CAA, Palestine issue pathi lam pesatha neraiya Muslims Inga irukanga.. our own Muslims people are letting this happen.. supporting these kinda fandom for celebs who don't even give a fk to who you are is the biggest problem here.. our own Muslim people are dying out of love for celebs, letting all these happen
Appreciate Shakeel for addressing a topic relevant to our times. This is not a coming of age issue but rather a dispute/conflict thats spanning more than half a century in this sub continent. That being said, there are institutions, agencies, socio political organisations that nurture this hate into society for more than 100 years and cinema is another tool in their kit. As much as you are angry against the mainstream cinema for misrepresenting us, we are equally responsible for not participating or representing in any of those mediums that we blame for. The enemy is clear, working with an agenda, on the other end, what are we doing? we are just 'blame gaming' . Muslims arent the only religious minorities, there are christians, sikhs, and other numerous religious, linguistic minorities. Why aren't they targeted or persecuted as much as muslims? Why muslims are made to feel like second class citizens when we have given our blood to this nation? But, have we looked to the other side of the coin? Have we addressed how many artists are abandoned by their own muslim families? Do you know that muslim community in TN collectively has a conscious against cinema, music, art in general ? As much as we have contributed to the society, we have also not participated greatly or collectively in media. Yes, there are artists and talents in negligible amounts as individuals. We do not have a music academy or a Naratha gana saba...we dont have a Margazhiyil makkal isai or a Neelam, we dont send our kids to Kalakshetra or an NSD or a School of Art. We do not have any social cultural movement to address our plight or represent us in a right way, Do we? There are hundreds of muslim artists who are working in different names out of fear of their own community. This is where the cause and root of our problems exist. Jews won the empathy of the world through art and cinema against their crimes, hate and genocide. Instead of asking the general public to "shut up" and empathising as victims, we need to buckle up and bring reforms to address this in a strategic way than ever before. Social harmony is much better here in TN, thanks to Dravidian movements and the role of muslims back then, we had Nagoor Hanifa, Kavi Ka mu Sheriff, Kavingar Mehta, Manavai Mustafa and many innumerable artists who were instrumental in art, literature and politics. Yet, they were just individuals who were most likely abandoned by their own community. PS: Nothing still justifies the institutionalised hate and crimes against muslims. Islamaphobia is a global phenomenon not just demographic specific.
I see the point, having lack of representation behind the camera could have been impactful on what happened in front of the camera. The People who are responsible for the camera won’t care to educate themselves before bringing up a character, anyways. Namalukum avangaluku solli puriya vekka vaaipu kedaikala. Avangalum purinjukanum nu nenaikala. But it’s high time that we talk about this and let them know.
God bless you. It takes courage to speak about something like this in such a platform. People need to be aware of how movies can impact the audience, in a good and bad way. Not just in tamil cinema but in many others too. Alot of us start believing the things we see on TV/movies even without thinking or reading about it themselves. We tend to paint an image of a certain group in our head by what we have been watching even without us realizing. It feels like a propaganda, a way to manipulate. And the only way to come out of misconceptions is to ask questions. Thank you for this well thought and delivered video. I hope this video reaches the right audience.
Kudos for putting this up. MEDIA SOCIALIZATION DOES IMPACT PERCEPTIONS. Sensitizing tamil cinema about female misrepresentation was a very slow process, I hope ethnic representation gears up and people are more conscious about what they show on screens. I am glad someone spoke about this, people in the west do talk about representation of colour and they have brought great changes in due course. Being here, we need to bring in the existing religious stereotypes and become conscious consumers.
Thank you so much, Man you make the best content on internet 🫡💯 My respect for you raised to peak Story Time Literally every time I feel the same when my friends or their family ask about hijab 🧕🏻 I tried to educate them but later I stopped because they throw the same question that my hijab is uncomfortable or my parents pressuring me to wear but honestly I love my hijab ❤ Few of my non-Muslims understand that “this is me”
Bro i'm also a Muslim girl, but no one ever told me to wear hijab even my parents, it was completely my choice i started to wear hijab when i was 9 years old and never stop wearing it until now, it's really comfortable even in hot climates, one of the main reason why i wear hijab and clothes 1 size bigger than me is i don't want to show my body shape to others, nowadays not only childrens has been rap*d but even animal has been sexually abused so it's better to be this way, but i think the clothes i wear is much more cuter than those revealing clothes 😂, and i really wanna add (kathuvakula rendu kadhal) movie where they show khatija a Muslim woman who goes to club and dance with random guys they might be having alcohols too, having boyfriend and that boyfriend also didn't say that what she was doing is wrong but instead going along with her to the club, and also wear a smallest clothes she had, but her name is khatija? I don't think she is a Muslim from the start they portray her like something else that i don't want to say (bad word), so when non Muslims saw that character and will thought that all of the Muslim womens are just like this, just like how they say that all of the terrorists and other Muslims are same, even those terrorists was not a Muslim anymore after they hurt the innocents i think they need to re-read the quran again and we Muslim women have aurat to protect not to show off to non mahrams, i believe in the day of judgement i have to answer to all of my actions i did before, our body only belongs to our future husband (if mine is still alive right now) 😅
At first I thought Halamithi Habibo was cultural appropriation, and was surprised no one ever talked about it anywhere. A so called 'arabic' kuthu would've been okay if they actually collaborated with an arabic artist and properly represented actual arabic culture. Ofc it had nothing to do with the movie, but most indian movie songs have nothing to do with the actual movie, more just a checkbox for a viral-able song. But it was just a very horrible caricature of any arabic culture dude. Idk what that was really. Oppressed women or extremist depictions of people in religions can be a story, but when it us the ONLY story for like exactly ONE religion, then that's a problem. And that's what is happening with muslims in Indian media. This really needs to change. From social issues to entertainment, I'm so SO happy that a tamil person is actually talking about it. When I talk about these issues in my typical tamil household, I seem crazy, an sometimes Im lead to believe it too... who even cares about these things? Idhu patthi ellam foreign countries le dhan yossipanga, inge ellam idhu normal nu madhri aaki vechirikaranga. 'Nadakarudhu thaane edukurom' nu kekkaranga, the problem is that when that is the ONLY thing you take. It becomes the 'single story' of a huge group of people. It is so nice to see someone actually acknowledge that these issues exist in the first place, from this one to even older videos. Thank you sm Shakeel only facts spoken💯 Hope more people start thinking AND talking
Nice bro, lots of films potrate muslim as a terrorist like thuppaki, visvarubam, roja etc....and enakume intha doubt neraya thadava vanthuruku itha pathi en frds ta pesum bothu lam en frds um said "nengalam apdithana"this word make more tumultuous
Hats off bro.I also thought about this since I was at grade 3 or 4.Especially after watching Velayudam movie. If u watch Roja movie; they portrayed the Muslim villain as a person who is torturing woman. On the other hand Islam is teaching us how to respect women🙃.
Shakeel bro, you are using the platform in the best way. Respect ✨️ YOU ARE AWESOME 🤌❤️ Also you are not overthinking 👋 Media loves to stereotype and being hardcore stereotypical even in 2024 is disappointing. Politics has never been about equality, its has always been about gaining validation over discriminating the other It all should be corrected, so that people can see people as human beings, not as their tags or titles
At last there is some one who voiced out all these issues...which i could relate with my life...even I've faced these stereotypical matters...the worst part is those comments are from teachers...ive studied in a convent school there was this one particular teacher who always tries to pinpoint that muslims are always untidy and she used to say that they wont take bath... instead they use athar(perfume) to hide the sweat odour....and she always tries to find flaws from this particular boy in my class who was a practicing muslim.... when he even did something like a petty mistake she would immediately ask him "this is what your allah teaches?" Infront of the whole class where about 50 students are non muslims...and whenever she advises she always mentions one particular muslim name and about a terrorist attack.... which obviously makes other non Muslim students to think that all muslims are terrorists 😢...above all she is a tamil teacher when she takes class on literature such as seerapuraanam she won't pay much attention and doesn't add much explanations to it instead she purposely mispronounce certain words for example பெருமானார்(as we use this word for describing prophet Muhammad p.b.u.h) As பெருமனர்..i could obviously feel that she is doing it on purpose because she has an eloquent Tamil pronunciation and has immense grammatical knowledge in tamil....not to mention there was another English teacher who used to ask muslim girls that "why are you here in school,if you couldn't score good marks go get married as you guys( muslims) do.these are only few incidents ive faced at school.i was in my 12th grade when all these things happened...the age in which ive started realising such kind of things that are going on around us....ive always felt to voice out about all the issues you've mentioned today....my heart felt light inside after watching this video cuz now i could relax there is someone out there to come up with those issues ive faced as a child and as an adult... heart felt thanks for this video of yours . jazakallah khair...may the almighty bless you with abundant blessings shakeel ❤
When I was young, I used to feel that wearing the Abaya and hijab was oppressive because I wore them not by choice but because my parents compelled me to wear them only protect myself from the gaze of others and to blend into society, essentially to avoid attention, without educating the true intentions. I had no basic knowledge about Islam, but I was Muslim by birth. I went through a phase where I completely stopped wearing both the hijab and Abaya for a while. However, later on, I began to reflect and educate myself more about Islam and the Sunnah, which enlightened me. Mashallah, I started wearing them again, and it has been more than five years of modesty and adherence to the Sunnah. Just letting audience know that, before you consider it as oppression, educate yourself about the values of Islam and analyse before blindly conforming to random media portrayals.

Let me tell you,SHE DOESN'T CARE AND SHE WILL KEEP PROGRESSING. QUEEN FR. I'm very happy you're speaking about this, and I know there's a ot more that's happening which should be pulled into the spotlight.
Thank you so much! And happy for that gurlboss!
I think people don’t realise that a lot of movies are propaganda, with political intentions, to change perceptions. We’re so tired.
Discrimination can be sugar coated very easily, with a trendy song, computer graphics and a top hero saying mass dialogues.
@slayyer9260 Bro we are not playing a game that goes like “WHO GOT DISCRIMINATED MORE😍”

We were all 17 or 18 at the time
I hate when people talk like they are in someone’s shoes when they are not in a disregarding way. I hope we grow together :)
Discrimination has been sugarcoated so well in tamil cinemas, even after many many years we're still treated like "The intruders"by the ppl in the same society.. I was actually waiting for someone to talk about these messed up things on internet but Nobody has any guts to,Tysm for voicing out.
Such a maturity from a young man. I completely agree on this.
I never thought that movies had an in-depth meaning, except a few with open messages. Thank u so much for this initiative thought!!
Jazakallahu khair for this Topic bro You've taken it to the next level
I always wonder why no one talks about it but Alhamdulillah you did it ❤
i feel so thankful for you that you spoke abt this, you really spilled all the emotions which i really wanted to ....all the words u conveyed were extremely right. may allah bless you with immense peace in dunya and the after life , and the strength to face all the difficulties .
to all who trolled this guy...
respectfully shut up
Shakeel, what you talked was in my mind for past 15 years 😢 bro u just created an revolution in people's thought. May Allah grant you more knowledge,
Aameen ❤
You nailed it 🎉
Shakeel, I have this one very close muslim frnd. 🫀
Just ask them they Hindu culture they won't say the same. Please don't be emotionally blind
@@Gokul-305 that's because it's the Hindu's mistake of treating them like shit. If we treated them good, why would they bitch about us?
He was silent with no reply
It's so sad that even your own friends talk like this.
I've gone through these kind of stuff since I was very young. when i was in 3rd grade a girl asked if i had a gun in house.
a "8 YEAR OLD" girl asked me if i had a gun in my house just cuz i was a Muslim. all of these thoughts roots up from these kind of movies where Muslims are constantly potraited as terrorists or the "bad guy".
it's so frustrating. i recently noticed a bunch of kids playing a game where the catcher is a "muslim- terroist" who kills people touching them (similar to the ice-and-water game we used to play)
where do you think this is coming from? movies have a huge impact on people's mind, y'all should understand that
I'm so proud of you shakeel for bringing this up

Mad respect to you Shakeel! Thank you for speaking about this with your platform with facts and laying out them in a way that how sneakily everything shown/covered by media/art to be internalised by people!
"You cannot paint monalisa with blood and call it masterpiece!"
More power to you !!
Thank you so much

Never felt so out of place in my home. thanks for bringing this up, shakeel. much needed one. you're amazing ❤️
Ps. to everyone who's turning an blind eye to what's happening in Palestine, Kashmir, and (god forbid) India, it's just a matter of time that this could happen to you too, on a different front.

But on the other hand some got inspired and started wearing it too, I am happy for them Alhamdulillah
And Jazakallahu khairan for bringing this topic up ❤
Jazakhallahu khairan ❤...
Have a great ramzan shakeel ❤Allah will give all the things good allah will always be with you ❤
I remember very well, my frnd asking me if i was a terrorist... after watching some random news.... i would never forget that in my life.

I loved that “shut up” ✨
I'm not a from the minority, but I can understand it because there aren't more people of us together... We people are scattered... Its totally true that people ask too many questions like we are forced to do our practices.. it's none of their business but they still act like we are been oppressed... I'm really glad some one spoke about this....
After processing for an hour, I am wondering " Is cinema genuine? Is it right?"
Nothing is compatible to the respect I have for you!
Bro, i didn't experience racism during my school days and those friends were good to me but when I reached out from my school, i learnt about the situation in our day to day lives, the racist memes on insta and other media had shown to the vast majority of the audience, it had made people to show/ portray Muslims in a negative role. In a community level i had tried to teach others about how Islam works and they did understand but I had an idea to show it publicly, you did the work bro, thanks a lot.. peace
Thank you for speaking up Shakeel. You are doing Great!!!
Finally someone spoke about this issue. This sort of prejudication about a community has been bothering me even tho im not a Muslim ( all three religions has been mixed im my family ). Thanks bro. We need more vids like these.❤
Wow just wow bro. U risked urself to recieve lots of hatred and troll but i just wanna say that u have done the right thing. Superb bro, supports to u
The last line means so muchhh, would be nice if people could think like you do
Ima a teen Hijabi who studies in Muslim country, recently a Senior (gr.12) girl got married in my skool and it wus a very hot news around d skool and once me and my frnds were talking and a Chirstian frnd of mine said that the senior got married early becuz she wus a "Muslim" nd asked me if I will get married young too, after explaining her nut every Muslim woman get married early I asked her what made her ask dis she told me that "Isn't that huw it is in Movies?", I wus totally out of words.
Hats 🎩 of to shakeel anna for choosing to guide the community and speaking facts on behalf of all the minorities, this wt exactly we all think but never choose to speak out
even in animal movie the Muslim comunity was shown in the worst manner ...like having 3 wives....abuses......etc...
dude read quran...islam allows u to have 4 wives and even beat them...
I really appreciate your effort to take this topic and speak out !!❤👏

I don't know who all are gonna read this but I like the arunthathi fakir charector goosebumps
who all are agree
👇
Bro iam telling you, this is one of the most favorite type of shakeel I wanted to see for a long time, the way you see the issues in your own perspective is awesome and I can relate to you so much... keep this countinuing ✊️✨️👍
Shakeel supremacy ❤
Good video at the right time. In the recent times , the hatred towards islam and all the muslims as a whole is very high on social media like reddit and Twitter. I'm fed up with people accusing and mocking the whole community.
You have seriously gained many respect today shakeel!! U have represented many people and cleared many things.
Hats off da!❤
It was 2011/2012, I was in class 6, history class la Aurangazeeb pathi class eduthutu irundhanga and my friend straight up asked me “Neenga ellam en d ipdi irukinga, chi”
I couldn’t comprehend what was happening, Aurangazeeb pannadhuku Na Enna panna mudiyum and by saying “Neenga ellam” what do you mean girl?
This question bothers me till date🫤
EXACTLY!!! when i was young
Someone asked me “SHAJAHAN KU NERAYA PONDATI chi” dei avan kattunadhuku naa ennada panna mudium
I think all us Muslims can relate to such questions right from childhood 🤐
Such a bold and incredible video u have made shakeell. One of the best videos you have madee 💯💯💯
One of the finest explanations regarding this matter in Tamil...🤍
Thank you for making this video
I have a Muslim friend and I have seen her as me no other difference only our religions are different
5:23 padathula muslim ponuku freedom nu katra ore vishayam
SO TRUE, DEEP IN SO MANY DIFFERENT LEVELS
Awwww you trying on for her cute maxxx
We LOVE it man!!! Perfectly put in words🙏🏻
-Red string gal🫶🏻
Even though I am not Muslim ,I can feel you .There is lot of controversies in this subject' really unnecessary '
and whenever i discuss this with my classmates or friends, one of the questions i get is, ' why do u even care as you're nonbeliever and just a muslim by name?'. Like that matters. whether a person is believer or not, they still belong to the community, and it affects them one way or other.
Bro chose to voice out about something which everyone in the media should .
Hatsoff , The perspective you sowed , Glad u spoke abt this!
Respectfully Shut up ! 🫡
This Shakeel ❤️
Avlo dhain !

Love your videos bro seriously...this is the type of content i want to hear u r amazing
Is it just me or did the Anti Muslim propaganda skyrocket after 2022??
How are y'all holding up people?😭😭
I feel so bad for y'all🫂✨💖
Not 2022....
But slowly after 2014, if you know what I mean.
@@indhulekha_with_a_h I do😔😔
Not in South India. Bollywood made the Kerala story
even i have experienced this during my 7th grade when thuppaki movie released.my friends bullied me and told me that ill become a terrorist when i grow up. that was traumatizing for me💔💔💔
As I have been living in a Muslim country as a resident I haven’t come across discrimination based on religion.
Muslim can never make it big as a imposing figures in film industry with current political scenario instead we should work on political realm.
Shakeel bro
Iniki public exam 10th ku
All the best sollunga
Seeking ur prayers and blessings!
Thank you so much,
Man you make the best content on internet 🫡💯
My respect for you raised to peak
Story Time
Literally every time I feel the same when my friends or their family ask about hijab 🧕🏻 I tried to educate them but later I stopped because they throw the same question that my hijab is uncomfortable or my parents pressuring me to wear but honestly I love my hijab ❤
Few of my non-Muslims understand that “this is me”
Bro i'm also a Muslim girl, but no one ever told me to wear hijab even my parents, it was completely my choice i started to wear hijab when i was 9 years old and never stop wearing it until now, it's really comfortable even in hot climates, one of the main reason why i wear hijab and clothes 1 size bigger than me is i don't want to show my body shape to others, nowadays not only childrens has been rap*d but even animal has been sexually abused so it's better to be this way, but i think the clothes i wear is much more cuter than those revealing clothes 😂, and i really wanna add (kathuvakula rendu kadhal) movie where they show khatija a Muslim woman who goes to club and dance with random guys they might be having alcohols too, having boyfriend and that boyfriend also didn't say that what she was doing is wrong but instead going along with her to the club, and also wear a smallest clothes she had, but her name is khatija?
Thank you so muchhhhh
much needed, love love loved this vid!
Very bold bro! So proud of you❤
I wish we all could write "No uterus No opinion" on our forehead until others actually understand the meaning of it!
Shakeel bro, you are using the platform in the best way. Respect ✨️ YOU ARE AWESOME 🤌❤️
Also you are not overthinking 👋
Media loves to stereotype and being hardcore stereotypical even in 2024 is disappointing.
Politics has never been about equality, its has always been about gaining validation over discriminating the other
It all should be corrected, so that people can see people as human beings, not as their tags or titles
