@@jayhoochiemagee8487 yea thankfully I got it. my confusion was with the pre installed io shield & why it didn’t want to clip on the side when seating it within the case. Then I realized it’s dependant on the case you buy. so all I had to do was angle the mobo on the standoffs correctly while making sure the io shield slot looked good visually. Piece of cake
i know this is a little late but angle the io shield down to the table flipping the pc case on its back and then you can easily put the motherboard into the io shield
@@batmnin Tried that and it still didn't work. I have a Gigabyte Z790 Aorus Elite AX, and even the sides of the I/O shield prevent the board from being lined up and sitting flush with the standoffs. It was impossible to get it in and screw it down.
Wish I had this easy to follow video when I did my PC build 5 years ago.. and also when I did my previous build 10 years ago.. and also when I did my build before that 15 years agooo :D

In my entire lifetime i never put the motherboard while the case is standing up. I always put down the case horizontally then put the motherboard from above. Is there any benefit doing it vertically ?
Where are the usb cables and all the minor cable go to? Sorry for the question ive just seen the insertion of them to the mobo but idk where they come from in the case. I have replaced every component on my pc but never a mobo seems kind of scary to do.
Answering myself for all the future people that might wonder about this. (Finished building my pc) The the usbs, audio, start button, and restart. Aka front panel. Are wires youll have in your case. Once the motherboard is installed you can fit those in their place. Usually usb 3.0 cant be mistaken with another connection. Nor does usb type c Audio will be at the left down side of the mobo in most cases. And as for the start and restart buttons. You will need your mobos manual. You should have 2 rows of pins mostly found in the right down corner. The power button and restart will mostly be inserted horizontally. But be aware each pin has a different size and different use. Which means the only one right way to connect them. Refer to manual. You should have a drawing of the pins with each of them labeled. For example for the power button look for. Pwr + , Pwr -. Make sure the polarity is right when you insert. If you can't find it on your connector. Just try 1 and flip it if it doesn't work. And no. You dont need surgeon hands for this xd Front panel done. Gratz

If it’s already installed in the motherboard you cannot take it off, just angle it and put it in the case. That step is only required for motherboards that don’t come with preinstalled IO shields (usually cheaper ones)
Then how do we have the motherboard that comes with the IO shield, how do we make the motherboards sit properly flush over the standoff mounting holes? Because they don't align straight for me because the IO shield pushes away from the back of the case
The form factor of your motherboards have different names which refer in sizes. The most usual ones are ATX, Micro ATX, Mini-ITX which uses 4~9 stand-offs in the case. The most efficient way to check, is checking how many stand-offs you have in your case and the actual form factor your motherboard is. There are plenty of pictures explaining that on google.
The screws don't come with the motherboard, but rather the PC case. A lot of people seem to not thoroughly check their PC cases and most manufacturers include a small box/bag with accessories like mounting screws and brackets.

This is hard to understand if you have an io shield on the board already. idk how to angle the board in to get the io shields in first

my problem is, it seems my mobo is a few mm, of the standoffs, and the IO shield fits in the case.
I have a z790 asus tuf gaming MB and cant figure out how to properly get the i/o shield off the MB first. Any help is appreciated.

Chances are your motherboard doesnt have it, read the manual and check.
