I like the idea of modding a 5.7, because it's not a 6.4. there's absolutely nothing wrong with the 6.4, it's a great engine, but everybody and their mother looks at the 6.4 for performance when the 5.7 can make some serious ponies with little tweaks.
I have a 2012 5.7 with 392 rear end, cold air intake, SLP long tube headers, high flow cats, changed exhaust and had it tuned by OST in Portersville, Pa. 460 hp on dyno with 89 octane. Lots of fun to drive, only a summer weekend car.
My 2012 Challenger SRT 8 mds lifter failure caused my cam change. Billet of course Comp stage 2 and Hellcat lifters now(no more mds). The previous owner had put Magnaflows exhaust and speed logic catch can , so it sounds great. What a difference. It will check your talent. Fun car to drve and I'm keeping it.
Marc Be Hoopin there is a difference in the two. Drone is a resonance that fills the cabin at certain rpms. Like my car doesn’t drone but you hear the exhaust cruising anything above 2k rpm. I made it louder with less drone and it’s much better.
If you don’t understand why they complain, they you have never heard that kinda drone. People didn’t want to get in my car it was so bad from the previous owner, I didn’t enjoy the car, it was horrible

Not gonna lie for a 5.7 sounds like a beast pretty dam fast too everyone says the chally 5.7 is slow this and that with the right mods you can make it quick not bad

Man, I've been swearing by Borla for over 20 years. I've had them on over a dozen vehicles. Everything from an LT-era Camaro to a Ford Lightning to my current Z06. They have a more "European racing sound" (it's hard to explain) that's definitely different from the Magnaflow or whatever but sound so f*cking good. Everywhere you go people stop and look to see what sounds so badass. If they made motorcycle exhausts I'd have them installed on my bikes. BTW, great car. Cheers.

I got a question I have a 13 rt with a 6 speed manual it has 95 thousand miles on it I use Mobile one synthetic and a mobile one filter I put 6 quarts in with a quart of Lucas and I use 93 octane and it has the famous hemi tick but it's not always the same sometimes you can really hear it other times it's barely noticeable I changed the plugs but not the coil packs will probably do those in a couple thousand more miles do you know if it could be the lifters or do you think the cam has a flat spot it drives fine and still has damn good pickup with all the miles on it
The ticking youre hearing could be not using good enough fuel, when was the last time you did a throttlebody/FIJ service? I get a slight tapping when i use anything less than premium, i switched to pennzoil platinum and ita quieted my motor down quite a bit as well.
2014 ram 1500 just had my engine covered under warranty. Lifters went bad ruined almost every lobe on the cam. There known for going bad. Keep an eye on it. I was at 99,900 miles luckily they replaced the full engine under my mopar warranty.
Stop driving the car. Can be timing chain if nosie is there when engine is cold then goes away when warm. But more than likely its the lifters getting flat eating into cam. Stock lifters are notorious for needle bearing failure. Put on a pair of stethoscopes and listen to each cylinder. You will hear where its coming from. Or pop off valve cover and rotate engine by hand and look at valve lift. Bad lifter wont be moving the valve full height. Replace with hellcat lifters and mds delete kit. Jay green has kit.
I love my 07 5.7 comes with 3.92 gearing I just blew the 5spd and it has another one going in this week its a fun truck I want to cam it and make it sound like a mean ass R/T
i have 2009 rt- 5/7 ii ran 12.9 with the pro charger- running 490 hp to the wheels with the 373 gears, i did the T/B and ported manifold have the hi flow cats with JBA headers , now heading to HHR state 3 heads up grade on the nag 1 tran. stall con. and flywheel and damper- cam about 15,000 in work, hopping break the 600 HP mark0 we will see,

I mean, this is a nice car - love the shaker. Yet my wife's Widebody Scat Pack ran 11.8's with a 18 inch drag radial and that's it at Maple Grove. No tune, not exhaust mods, no race fuel and full weight. The 392 is a better starting platform than the 5.7 - it just is.

Till you use the wrong mod and destroy the motor. I was going to get a 6.4 crate but after working for dodge and seeing nothing but 6.4s gettin new motors before 50k miles, i decided against it.
@@mrhyde0705 that's total bullshit. 392 Hemis are some of the most reliable engines NA that Dodge has made in the last decade and a half. Sure if you slap 12lbs of boost at one it'll eventually pop a ring land on the piston, but there is guys running 10's NA, guys have done cam and 150 shots, guys running 10's on 6-7lbs of boost and minor bolt ons. These engines have their limitations but again it's a better engine than the 5.7 and will make more power than a 5.7 in ANY given scenario. NA, under boost, under nitrous, and just because the 5.7 can take an additional 2lbs of boost doesnt mean it's a better engine. A 392 on 6 to 7 PSI will make more than a 5.7 on 8 PSI ANY DAY OF THE WEEK. Sorry but to say the 392 is garbage, or that its junk is false. It has itsimits but so does every engine with hyper-pistons. Even the 5.7

For me it's not so much about the money but building a car the way I want to build it and make it my own. Yes, you can by a 392 for just about the same money I put into purchasing and modifying my car.
Just added heads a few months ago and put down just over 400 RWHP which is conservative because it was on the base/start up tune. Guessing now that we have it dialed in a little better probably in the 420s.
@@dmcmix1340 yeah that's true, me and a full tank, car weighed 4080lbs. Typical race weight was around 39xx depending on fuel. The car only had 300 dollar set of Speed engineering headers, used CAI Inc intake and a SCT X4 canned tune from the device itself. It trapped 111 box stock down to the AC Delco paper filter, so I knew it was something special. The d/a on the 116 mph run was 2600 to boot.

Quickest-revving 5.7 I've ever heard. That engine is too sleepy from the factory.

The great thing about 5.7 is you can supercharge it with out worrying too much unlike the 392.

You can really get them to rip with some mods and a tune! High to mid 12s is somewhat cheap but 11s gets expensive quick.

Flowmasters are junk. So restrictive. If you want a similar sound but actually flows good, go with the blackwidow race venom mufflers

Flow masters are trash. You want a real performance exhaust like corsa , billy boat,Borla , ipe, fi, akrapovic, armytrix etc

For me it's not so much about the money but building a car the way I want to build it and make it my own. Yes, you can by a 392 for just about the same money I put into purchasing and modifying my car.

Just added heads a few months ago and put down just over 400 RWHP which is conservative because it was on the base/start up tune. Guessing now that we have it dialed in a little better probably in the 420s.

@@dmcmix1340 yeah that's true, me and a full tank, car weighed 4080lbs. Typical race weight was around 39xx depending on fuel. The car only had 300 dollar set of Speed engineering headers, used CAI Inc intake and a SCT X4 canned tune from the device itself. It trapped 111 box stock down to the AC Delco paper filter, so I knew it was something special. The d/a on the 116 mph run was 2600 to boot.
DMC Mix false. 5th and 6th gens are basically the same weight. The difference isn’t worth mentioning.
