- I took a road trip up into the mountains in California to recover a vintage Datsun 320 pickup truck that I saved from
a salvage yard. This truck being 1964 is a first generation Datsun truck which is different to find. In this video we use a vintage tractor from ww2 to move the truck around because the rear brakes we’re dragging and the front tires were blown out. - Авто та транспорт
👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching! 😁😁😁
Oh yes the next chapter of this trucks life is being written! Looking forward to see it progress!
Thanks Jeff!!! It might need a engine transplant!
That was such a fun day Rob !
Yes it was !!! Thanks for your help recovering the truck and storing it.
Cool I have a 1960 Datsun truck. It is great to see them being saved
Very cool! Thanks for watching my Datsun video!
Nice extended 3 point turn-around with power assist!
😁😁😁 Thank you !!! We had fun with this truck and tractor as you can see.
I just found a 61 in the woods. Cost me $200.00.
Next in line!
Awesome thanks for sharing
I had one of those Datsun when I was in Australia, I think remember an article when Dick Dean put one of these chassis under a 32 Ford, anyway cool video.
Neat!!! I chose this out of a yard with over 1500 vintage vehicles available to me. For some strange reason this one caught my attention. Something about the bug eye front headlights that intrigued me I think.
Boy those front tires really made it tough on you guys! Love the truck!
Thanks ! Yes I agree, if I had the rims off and and at home I would have mounted some tires on the truck when I arrived at my friend’s home to make things easier. Appreciate you watching and commenting
I still remember when my Pop's bought his first Datsun truck in 1972 brand new or it was slightly used? But he drove that little truck for year's went camping in it hauled a whole lotta stuff in it, pulled a cement mixer. Then my older brother inherited rebuilt the engine then sold it shortly after that in 2020? But from 1972 to 2020 that's a long time to have a truck Pop's and my older brother used to buy 1967-72 Toyota car's and fix them up to resale them. I even own a 4 door Toyota corona 1968 was my first car.
Thank you for sharing this! These early Japanese vehicles were very strong!
Love the old Japanese vehicles. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos on it.
Thanks !!! I also enjoy vintage Japanese vehicles. Appreciate you watching and commenting today.
While I much prefer American made vehicles this is a cool little truck.
I was so torn on what to buy! I
Enjoy both 🙃🙃🙃
That's a really kool truck!!
Thanks Brian !!!
The panels look in strong condition. The pick up bed looks very good. Nice old pick up
Yes the steel is very heavy like that of an vintage American vehicle. Very little rust being found in California.
@@gaspumprob not like the Datsun's in the UK. I remember when I was a kid. My nan had one and she use to just keep adding filler to it to try and hold it together some times she would use a kitchen spoon to add filler on the wings and to the bottom of the doors. Me and friends would stand watching and have a good laugh.
Wow !!!! That goes to show you how different climates can make a world of difference in preservation of steel . Thanks for sharing.
Hi rob good to see you got a truck you like . Cheers mate🇦🇺
Thanks Peter, It not what I expected to buy but it could my attention.
Good luck. First thing is find a windshield. I restored a 70 Datsun 521, the hardest part was the windshield
Totally done now. Rebuilt 1600 with 5 speed, front disc brakes and AC.
Thank you! Yes near impossible to locate a windshield. I have several people searching for me . Might have to hand craft one out of a different model vehicle.
Would love to see your 521 sometime . Thanks for watching and commenting. Rob in California
@@gaspumprob Email? send you picks. Currently on a 1974 Porsche 914. and a Samarui.
@@sunset1300 hondarob.robert@aol.com Thank you !!!
@@sunset1300 I have worked on many 914 in the past including 914-6
Those were four speed on the column. Top speed is 40 mph.
That is crazy!!! I see emblems in it 60HP 😂😂😂😂
GPR why didn’t you and Tom just pick it up😂
Because it was more fun playing around with the tractor in front of the camera hahaha 🤣
LS swap?
💪💪💪😂🙌🙌🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸😁😁😁Yeah can hear it roaring haha
Out of all that good American sheep man don't you pick up a Japanese pizza thing😂😂😂😂😂.😮😮
That's fairly close to it that commenter said I can't believe hishe of whatever actually said that! It is a neat little unique truck that there's probably not that many around. Although I did see one out in the middle of nowhere in the midwest that look better than you as I drove past me and very slow rate of speed. I was waiting for you to get the floor jack out and put it underneath the differential and push and pull it straight as your back to trailer up to it while it was on the concrete. I've had challenging loads before and there's always somebody out there eating popcorn that comes up to you and say I would have done it this away. Well as loose as they are with aliens in California you should have no problems getting proper papers on this junkyard refugee. Just to clear political asylum haha. By the way junkyard refugee was my name for tetanus shot before my wife renamed it. There is a story behind that name junkyard refugee another time
Haha We use the old floor jack at the shop to put under the rear ends and move cars . Try that in dirt ! 😂😂😂 Putting the old tractor to use was more interesting and fun!!! Papers are probably going to be a challenge out here . I have a bill of sale and she couldn’t find a title in the stack unfortunately. Still searching for a 320 front windshield. Chatting with the Datsun club guys out here now. Your opening line made me laugh!!! It’s unbelievable what some people write. We had a great time as you can see moving that thing around . It was almost worth what I paid to buy it just for the experience and entertainment haha .
I remember you telling me that you saw one on the road moving slowly. Did you read the comment that someone left earlier. She said it’s a five speed transmission and top speed is around 40 miles an hour!!! A badge on the front fender says 60 HP . Wow what a slug 🐌. Might have to drop something else with more ponies in this little thing . 😂😂😂
Those were four speed on the column. Top speed is 40 mph.
This is great information. I was thinking low top speed because it’s a 60 HP engine! Thank you
@@gaspumprob maybe even slower than 40 mph. I knew a man who drove one and said he was always catching hell for going so slow.
