Jeremy vs. TSA Friendly Tool Set (Fly with full tool set!)

  • I love to carry a multitool, and one of the most important times I like to have tools is when I am away from home, traveling, or flying. Well, guess what, planes don't exactly like multitools because most of them have knives. The ones that don't are basically useless so I have put together a proven TSA-friendly toolset that has been through carry-on checks on most major airlines in the US.

    A great replacement option for the screwdriver(and fishtail) is the Milwaukee fastback 1505, it’s a utility knife/box cutter (so you can take the blades out before TSA and buy new ones at any gas station) and on the other end it is a full size screwdriver (Philips and flat head, that locks!) it also has a bottle opener and extra blade slot, seatbelt/rope cutter. The only thing you’d be sacrificing is the other bits BUT you could also carry a smaller bit holder for those. As a bonus it is also fun to open and close.

    • @Jfree441
      @Jfree441  Рік тому +6

      I literally have that in my Amazon cart already! I was thinking very similarly to you on that as an all in one replacement. The only concern I'd have is if they did take it for some reason, they take my screwdriver too so having some separation would allow for some safety in losing everything.

    • @moonszol4486
      @moonszol4486 Рік тому +1

      @@Jfree441 as far as that goes you just have to make sure you don’t have the blades and they actually can’t do anything about it because it’s not technically a knife I do suggest you don’t have it in your pockets but rather in a utility bag pocket,
      If you feel that there is enough of a risk you can put it in your checked bag(even with the blades) and there won’t be any issues.

    • @fredoswego
      @fredoswego Рік тому +8

      don't be so sure about that. Another UA-camr reviewed that knife and suggested it for plane travel for the same reason. Somebody said their bladeless fastback got confiscated the last time he flew.
      Remember, regardless of what OFFICIAL TSA guidelines are, the guy at the gate has final say and if he's having a bad day or just doesn't like your shoes, your bladeless knife is getting confiscated.

    Something is back feeding through that neutral. It could be an appliance you have plugged in and when you go to work on the outlet you unplug it. Or you could be back feeding through a ballast in a light fixture. To narrow it down throw the breaker on for the plug that has the back feed. See if there is still power on the neutral. If NOT, then the back feed is somewhere on THAT circuit. Unplug all the appliances and see if that gets it. If so unplug in one appliance at a time. Don't forget the light fixtures. If there IS still power on that neutral start throwing circuits one by one. When (and if ) the power drops on the neutral go through the same procedure above. Good luck.

    • @chrishyde7798
      @chrishyde7798 Рік тому

      Yep, this is the correct process to find the source of the back fed power on this neutral.

    Regarding your electrical problem...
    1) Make certain your conduit is only feeding one Romex cable
    2) Make certain this cable is a two conductor / one ground cable (e.g. 10/2 or 12/2, NOT 10/3 or 12/3)
    3) If the offending box is the second box on the line, make certain that the neutral wire is indeed coming from the neutral wire / post from the feeder box

    I wonder if any psychologists have ever done a study on what is behind the fantasy that people have that if they carry a small handful of useless garbage, somehow at some time, they’re going to be able to be a hero and save the world by measuring the width of their airplane seat and using scissors to cut open their peanuts. I wonder if it has anything to do with the movie Cast Away and imagining they might have to live for years screwing together coconuts on a deserted island and eating only clams that They pried open with their tiny fish tool.
    Sidenote, why in the world would you want a box cutter with no blade? How about a hatchet with no head, a knife with no blade? One side of an extra zipper. Or a nut with no bolt….. 😂

      @PetesGuide Рік тому

      @@Jfree441 I have to listen to your description a few more times to get a good mental model of your wiring, but right off the bat I suspect you’ve got a bootleg ground, probably a reverse-polarity bootleg ground. Watch this to find all of them in your house, and fix them. If there is one, the idiot didn’t do it in just one outlet: ua-cam.com/video/XfAPkJVYUpY/v-deo.html Also, double-check the continuity of the whole length of that conduit run, since that’s your found path. Lastly, you can only have one GFCI breaker or outlet in each path back to the breaker. Make sure not even one GFCI is connected to the load terminals of another GFCI.
      Check all of the above first, because any of the above will mask other problems and make troubleshooting difficult.

    • @PetesGuide
      @PetesGuide Рік тому +1

      To point out something I forgot to state in my other reply, a standard three-lamp GFCI outlet tester will lie to you in many unsafe conditions, so you can’t just use that. At a minimum you need to use a non-contact voltage tester on all three prongs of each outlet plus the 3-lamp tester. The NCVT should show only the hot (black or red) wire as live, and never the neutral (white). And are you color blind? In the US, the standard colors don’t include orange or purple. You should get someone who isn’t colorblind to help you.
