Yes you have a point...... but you see I'm from England where it is mandatory to be as skilled as one of king Arthur's knights of the round table at swordsmanship
He seriously should have been added in Smash Bros. At the very least, as a spirit. If I remember correctly, the first four games are in the top 50 best-selling Nintendo DS games (Diabolical Box being the 21th).
I’ve wanted Layton in Smash Bros for years. I’ve only watched this scene for the first time right now, as my copy of the game became unplayable after a house fire before I had the chance to start playing. This was so masterfully done, and I am somehow even more upset that he didn’t make it into Smash Bros. He may not be mainstream, but so many people wanted him to be playable 😢
I’m glad Sora got in Smash if I had to choose between the two but MAN Layton would have been amazing. If there’s ever another Smash, I’m still holding out hope for Layton and Phoenix Wright to be in Smash.
The Professor Layton franchise would have us believe that swordfighting skills are more of a requirement for adulthood than they actually are

wdym they aren’t?
Wait... They aren't ?? :^:
But for being a GENTLEMAN…
Layton is so freaking strong that he is able to deflect the attacks from a guy who literally breaks the whole ground with an axe

I mean the sword is stronger than the axe in the weapon triangle so...
They were standing on glass
@@proplaystowin in 1:41 you can see that Layton lured the armor to the glass part, but the destroyed ground is still there outside the glass part
The puzzle in the middle of the battle was such a good detail, made me remember the one in diabolical Box when Layton had to choose a sword.

It being broken in a house fire is literally so ironic I’m dead

Only in our dreams, sadly. 🥲
It would have given level 5 some acknowledgement...shame it is.
Honestly, I kind of a wish Professor Layton was in Smash Bros. with his fencing skills.
Damn professor Layton is kinda cracked
THIS GOES SO HARD
