This is amazing - 6kWh from one module is perfect - great home storage solution. I wish there was some off-the-shelf solution to get a salvaged battery from crashed VW MEB platform car, hook it to some coolant external circuitry, plug in into the battery and off you go - home storage ready. With some good 3-phase inverter, you might get dirt cheap and quite big home battery with high reliability.

Maybe you can try at Second Life Battery. This is a Spanish firm that sells reclaimed car batteries. Maybe you can find VW batteries there.

Great video, really clear explanation. Really good battery power that packs achieving. I was wondering if you might be able to help me please. I have the same BMS but with the older NCM622 cells from a 2019 hyundai ioniq. I have seen your upper and lower charge and discharge voltages are set at 4.2v and 3.3v. Only issue I have is if the voltage drops so low on a 12s configuration, will the inverter still work and push the power out? And will it then kick back in to charge them back up. I've had issues over the hybrid inverter not wanting to charge the batteries if they run low. I've decided to order the power meter your using to try to understand my actual capacities. Many thanks, David from the UK

Hi David and thank you so much. That is a very good question you have there. That is one of the biggest problem with this inverters from growwatt. You are not able to set the voltage lower than 40 volts, then it will cut off the power and also when you’re going to start to charge a battery like this, it took almost 5 hours for the inverter to ramp the amps up so it’s actually start to charge the battery again. So I highly recommend Victron because I have heard that you can set the voltage there to a lower setting and also a lot higher than this Growatt inverter I think it was 36v and all the way up to 63v so to use this battery together with a growatt is highly NOT recommended .
Thank you so much for your comment and have a fantastic day☺️

@@flyingtools Thank you for that. Maybe when I have some more money next year I will upgrade to Victron. They're quite expensive but as you have mentioned, a lot better than the cheaper Chinese inverters like my hybrid inverter charger. Otherwise its probably cheaper just to buy a cheap Chinese version of the tesla Powerwall and just negate all the uncertainty.
You have a great day too please 😁

😊 I believe that you have a voltage drop on you wire that will make up for your losses.
I think you have full capacity on your battery pack 😊
Always nice to know what capacity you have in your battery👍
I made a comment on your last video, only thing I forgot to tell was, the reason for a small fuse in the cell is due to safety.
If the battery is shorted on the balance lead it will turn in to melted wires, because of the resistance in the wire and the low voltage makes it impossible to blow a fuse at 5 Amp. I used a faste acting fuse at 250mA and 0.5 Square millimeter wire, that works out, with out a fire. 😊

    • @flyingtools
      @flyingtools  Рік тому +1

Yes, you are probably right. But I rather just mention the numbers, I don’t want to overestimate it.
I saw that comment and I know about the fuses and the reason why they are ther, I was just hoping they they will hold up for a 200ma balance current so I can use Orion bms to my battery.
200mA is more then enough just as you say. I meen look at my pack without a bms, 6 month of use and a daily cycling
And a delta voltage over 108s at 8mv!!
If a battery need a daily balancing you simply have a battery with bad matching cells or just bad cells.
Thank you so much for your very informative and giving comments.
      🤩👍🏻👌🏻

      Glad to have you here😃
I bought it from AliExpress from this seller. I have bought 9 BMS from them without any problem. You have to order a lifepo BMS and leave a comment in your order that you want it for li-ion. It’s the same price. They ship in a week, so not super fast but you will have it.
