That's a pretty disturbing reality you mentioned there. We can't share our digital games with people. That's another social aspect of gaming, like couch coop or split screen, that's fading away. This so why I'm always advocating for GOG. They're not perfect either, but I can at least share my games with my friends.
Screw that, You can launch the games WITHOUT the GOG launcher! The games are NOT tied to being logged in, signed-in, license checks, DRM, or anything like that. The major downside to games bought on GOG is that they tend to have a very low priority for updates for games not made by CDPR. Im still waiting for the latest FO4 patch..... (Edit: I am 1000% in favor of GOG! Advocate the heck out of GOG!)

Bombrush cyber funk was a great spiritual successor to Jet set. It is worth a pick up if you are wanting some jet set now. The story and game play is great.
Game Swapping is how I initially played some all time classics like Street Fighter II CE on Sega Genesis, A Link to the Past, and Yoshi's Island. I also was exposed to some less celebrated hidden gems like Bubba 'N Stix, Dynamite Headdy, and Bomberman Hero. Well before I began collecting or having discovered emulation, game swapping was my de facto way of discovering tons of games that I otherwise would not have, given that I was also unaware of video game rentals, growing up.

Platform holders better pay attention to what is happening to Apple’ App Store. If they go all digital, governments may force them to open up the platform to other store fronts. Physical games is a better solution for them to keep.

Okay, would someone please enlighten me on why all these racing games get de-listed due to licensing because I just don't understand it? For example: let's say Forza 5 has a licensing agreement with Ferrari and most of the cars in that game are also in Forza 4. Why would the current licensing contract not include previous games? If Forza or any game dev ends their contract with a car manufacturer, then I understand why they would lose the license. However, if all licenses are renewed with the current game, I don't see why that would be an issue with previous titles.
Lifelong racing game fan here, each game fron what I understand is a separate contract, what card can be included, how they can be portrayed (damage, dirt, etc), what situations they can be in, what colors, etc. the car manufacturers don’t sign a blanket deal for each ca, it’s the lineup for that games I think.
They work on a game by game basis contract, timed after the specific games release and thus only applicable to that one game. Thankfully the physical can be bought second hand and this is why they want to get rid of physicals and data on discs, to keep us consuming new stuff as much as possible. So we cant go back to the old if we never bought it.
I don’t get these deals at all tbh. They make a deal to make a game, they sell the game. Why would any company make this deal limited? I imagine the license fees are recurring with a percentage of games sold. And even if not, why restrict age old games? The physical versions can never be delisted and if those would still be lying around, shops would have the right to sell them new and used. Why not digitally? The whole concept makes no sense to me.
@@VEN0M415 unfortunately physical releases can't save all games, some still depend on day one patches to even work or could have online services shutdown which render them unplayable. What will ultimately save these games is software archival, or to put it more bluntly, piracy. We need the actual data to be backed up, no matter if it was downloaded or if it came on a physical release. FH4 is on PC and already gone through that. FH 1 and 2 on the other hand I had to find second hand copies for since they're Xbox exclusives. It's the reason why people can even play old Need for Speed games without hunting for an overpriced physical copy.
Big same. There’s like one or two iOS games I really liked, but they were all games-as-a-service that needed an internet connection and would boot me whenever my cellular signal wasn’t good enough (which are now vaporware that I can’t play anywhere anyways) But my Switch and Steam Deck have allowed me to play games I *love* wherever I go; games I can enjoy on a plane, in remote places, during power outages, and any situations that suppress interne connectivity.
I like using my phone in table top to play retro games. I just Bluetooth a controller, and lean my phone against my headphone's case. The 8bitdo micro is easy enough to carry anywhere.

I can’t believe that you said they should change the controls on the amazing jet set radio that game was perfection. That was one of the few games that I honestly say was perfect from start to finish. The gameplay was amazing. Very easy to understand very fun. the music was incredible the way they blended the music into different areas. It felt like there was a live DJ playing music for you while you played the game.

A friend sold my brother's Play Station 2 game. It was Red Ninja End of Honor. We had his Soul Calibur III game. Guess who became the new owner of Soul Calibur III. We still got it in the collection with it's original box. Red Ninja was just a disc in a generic DVD box. Still he did a great crime and betrayal.
I didn't lend anyone games for years, after someone put my DMG Golf cartridge through the washing machine, ripping half the label off... Especially infuriating, as I was pretty careful with my electronics.

I got Metal Gear Solid 2 for Christmas and beat it in 24 hours, lent it to a neighbor friend who just never returned it. I still remember Nate F, I still remember 23 years later.

I was waiting for reviews but then I found out that I had 7 games I really want at launch in September. I ended up pre-ordering the physical Miles Investigates dualogy instead. Saving the rest of money for that. The good news is monkey ball drops in price fairly quickly.
I don't use it often, but I have Mame on the phone, and I love playing light gun games. Point blank is so quick and easy, plus all you have to do is touch the screen to shoot.
Oh yeah. I had one friend whom I trusted to keep my entire Zelda collection safe, including those GC bonus discs. He claimed ignorance when I asked for them back. I even found my wavebird there and he said it was his.😑... Mine had a very specific scar on it from middle school. It was definitely mine.

I love Thursday releases! Pick it up Thursday on the way home and won’t get the chance to install and update until the family goes to bed. Then I’m not fighting Friday traffic, going out of my way, and once game time starts I’m ready to go.
So many times I leant out a game and it never found it's way back. I even had a nice strategy guide (a big book with pictures and information about the game for all you kiddos) for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion that I had all book marked and worn in with love from hundreds of hours playing and reading that was never returned either. I assume now that if I lend a game, it isn't coming back, so I tend not to lend games out.

Of course though, they announced it 1 year after I eventually dropped $100 to have another GC copy. Now I have both versions and an empty case/manual lol
Why people are creating drama over Nintendo not disclosing devs. Eventually you will see who is developing game when game is out. Not disclosing devs is even useful. That way people won't harass devs when game is late. They will harass Nintendo.

In my opinion, mobile phones are made for GBA emulation. It just works so well. Simple controls, optimised for a small screen, and it's always with you.
I had Super Mario Advance and someone wanted to play that while I played their Frogger’s Adventure instead. I got robbed because I never got that game back, but in all honesty, that frogger game was pretty fun.
I'm going to wait until 3 is out, because I have the remakes on Steam and I have the classics on my Vita. One thing I hope GOG can do in the future is get Dino Crisis under a similar deal.

I used it to play my copy of Cyberpunk 2077 from GOG and FF7 Remake and THPS 1+2 from Epic Store when both were not available on Steam yet.
I have a friend who kept my n64 for 15 to 20 years 😂 somehow (well, life happens, wife kids, college, etc) I forgot he had it, then randomly one day he gave it back to me a few years ago with some games and we had a good laugh a out it.

I'd be down for a Jet Set Radio remake. The biggest problem the original game has in my opinion is sometimes enemies can be annoying and it can be difficult making the kind of jumps the game wants you to make.
I never got my original copy of battletoads back, but i got ninja turtles 3 as the trade, so not too bad a deal. Also i emulate on my phone, and a unihertz titan pocket solves your control issues well enough.
I haven't done emulation on a phone but I do often get the ich to play old Game Boy Advance games that Nintendo doesn't have on NSO. Playing something like Yugiho or Fire Emblem sounds like they'd be great on a phone since you don't need quick reflexes or weird button combos.
My cousin borrowed my copy of New Super Mario Bros and promised to ship it back. He never did. That was 20 years ago. I should have asked for it back at his wedding.

Its crazy. I just got beyond good and evil for $20. A game I consider to be a classic. Mansion 2 which I always thought was an ok title is going for $60. That's a damn shame.
I use to emulate on my phone, but just Pokemon, however Drastic on Android did get me playing Animal Crossing Wild World and Nintendogs for a little bit back in 2015.
I’ll be honest, although I’m through the moon about Jet Set Radio or Jet Grind Radio having a possible remake, I would much rather have Jet Set Radio Future as a remake, remaster, or just ported to modern consoles. Jet Set Radio already has a remastered port on current consoles, while Jet Set Radio Future is still stuck on the Xbox. It’s probably also my bias speaking because it was one of the first games I can remember playing as a kid as it came with my Xbox, alongside Sega GT 2002 on the same disc.
I just want a full 3D remake of Phantasy Star 1. The original Phantasy Star quadrilogy are some of the best RPGs and they have never gotten any love. It would be cool to see them take those games and breathe some new life into them with a bigger budget and some expanded story and character development would be awesome
I didn't wait 20 years for a Jet Set Sequel just to get F2P GARBAGE. Super happy to hear Jet Grind Radio is getting a full remake. Now if we could just get a Jet Set Radio Future Remaster we'd be pretty good.
The days of borrowing games were fun, and dangerous, and a damn weird time but they are missed. I remember lending SNES games and forgetting about them till I’d go over to my friends house and seeing it. A friend of mine saw took my red dead redemption and Batman on 360 and I never got it back BUT he ended up being a manager at a GameStop years later and boy did he pay it forward. (thanks Mike). And the crown jewel had to be a coworker of mine borrowed my ps3 when metal gear first came out because he didn’t have a ps3 just to play through the game. I did get it back a week later. I feel those days are over. But if you did it everyone’s got a story
Man I would still have a complete Zelda game collection if not for the jerk who moved away while borrowing Phantom Hourglass. I had a 100% clear save with a run of 0:00 of the stupid timed dungeon on it too. I never let anyone borrow a game after that unless they put down cold cash deposit on it with a signed agreement in case of damage. I've only lent out three games since. But did have some theif steal most of my N64 and GameCube games about 3 years ago. They didn't get the boxes though. Just smashed a window in the middle of the night and grabbed what was in reach.

Buying SD cards from amazon is a risk even when you buy it directly from them. Gotten fakes constantly because they comingle their inventory with 3rd parties.

GOG would be the only game store I would buy Digital and I buy mostly Physical but if I get a PC GOG will be my first go to.

I got Metal Gear Solid 2 for Christmas and beat it in 24 hours, lent it to a neighbor friend who just never returned it. I still remember Nate F, I still remember 23 years later.

The only console that’s need a apple watch emulator is the playdate. Just because you can make motion with your hand to emulate the handle.

I was waiting for reviews but then I found out that I had 7 games I really want at launch in September. I ended up pre-ordering the physical Miles Investigates dualogy instead. Saving the rest of money for that.
The good news is monkey ball drops in price fairly quickly.

I don't use it often, but I have Mame on the phone, and I love playing light gun games. Point blank is so quick and easy, plus all you have to do is touch the screen to shoot.
Oh yeah. I had one friend whom I trusted to keep my entire Zelda collection safe, including those GC bonus discs. He claimed ignorance when I asked for them back. I even found my wavebird there and he said it was his.😑... Mine had a very specific scar on it from middle school. It was definitely mine.
My friend's borrowing games introduce them to games that they would not have played otherwise. Many of them went on to buy the sequels and love the series as much as I do
A friend of mine borrowed Skies of Arcadia Legends on GC back and the day, in exchange for the Zelda Collection of GC...he then suddenly MOVED AWAY.
3ds had circle pad pro for both xl and original, LM2 played like a dream with it back in the day
I love Thursday releases! Pick it up Thursday on the way home and won’t get the chance to install and update until the family goes to bed. Then I’m not fighting Friday traffic, going out of my way, and once game time starts I’m ready to go.
So many times I leant out a game and it never found it's way back. I even had a nice strategy guide (a big book with pictures and information about the game for all you kiddos) for The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion that I had all book marked and worn in with love from hundreds of hours playing and reading that was never returned either. I assume now that if I lend a game, it isn't coming back, so I tend not to lend games out.
The only problem I can see with Emerald is the mach bike. But a watch emulator seems cool

I had a friend who claimed to have lost my copy of thousand year door on GameCube back in middle school. But somehow still had the case. I’m so glad they remastered it. Of course though, they announced it 1 year after I eventually dropped $100 to have another GC copy. Now I have both versions and an empty case/manual lol
Why people are creating drama over Nintendo not disclosing devs. Eventually you will see who is developing game when game is out. Not disclosing devs is even useful. That way people won't harass devs when game is late. They will harass Nintendo.

One time I lend a copy of Fire Emblem Fates, the special one with all three stories, to a friend I used to see often on Fridays. That guy mysteriously disappeared a few weeks later. I had another one who I lend a copy of Starforce 2 to someone who wanted to do a "no save" challenge, and he disappeared too. What I'm basically saying is, I'm done with lending games to people these days
I lent a friend my Kingdom Hearts for PS2 back in highschool along with the official strategy guide. He dropped out of school and I never saw him or my game again. 😅
I had a friend who I loaned several snes games to when I was a kid, and he never gave them back, he even went as far as saying his grandmother liked them and wouldn't give them back to him. Among those stolen were cybernator and final fantasy 3 (ff vi)
In my opinion, mobile phones are made for GBA emulation. It just works so well. Simple controls, optimised for a small screen, and it's always with you.
I had Super Mario Advance and someone wanted to play that while I played their Frogger’s Adventure instead. I got robbed because I never got that game back, but in all honesty, that frogger game was pretty fun.
The original RE1/2/3 just dropped on GOG and no one is talking about it.

I'm going to wait until 3 is out, because I have the remakes on Steam and I have the classics on my Vita. One thing I hope GOG can do in the future is get Dino Crisis under a similar deal.
@@Lock2002fulyou can play games from gog on Steam deck by installing Heroic Games Launcher from desktop mode. It allows you to install gog and epic game store titles through that. I used it to play my copy of Cyberpunk 2077 from GOG and FF7 Remake and THPS 1+2 from Epic Store when both were not available on Steam yet.

I have a friend who kept my n64 for 15 to 20 years 😂 somehow (well, life happens, wife kids, college, etc) I forgot he had it, then randomly one day he gave it back to me a few years ago with some games and we had a good laugh a out it.
Wish SEGA would announce a remaster of Skies of Arcadia for gods sake they announced Jet Set Radio and Crazy Taxi show some love to one of your underestimated RPGs that if SoA

I'd be down for a Jet Set Radio remake. The biggest problem the original game has in my opinion is sometimes enemies can be annoying and it can be difficult making the kind of jumps the game wants you to make.
Based on his attitude near the end, I'm really curious about which games and how many his friends kept.

I never got my original copy of battletoads back, but i got ninja turtles 3 as the trade, so not too bad a deal. Also i emulate on my phone, and a unihertz titan pocket solves your control issues well enough.

I haven't done emulation on a phone but I do often get the ich to play old Game Boy Advance games that Nintendo doesn't have on NSO. Playing something like Yugiho or Fire Emblem sounds like they'd be great on a phone since you don't need quick reflexes or weird button combos.
My cousin borrowed my copy of New Super Mario Bros and promised to ship it back. He never did. That was 20 years ago. I should have asked for it back at his wedding.

Its crazy. I just got beyond good and evil for $20. A game I consider to be a classic. Mansion 2 which I always thought was an ok title is going for $60. That's a damn shame.
I use to emulate on my phone, but just Pokemon, however Drastic on Android did get me playing Animal Crossing Wild World and Nintendogs for a little bit back in 2015.
I’ll be honest, although I’m through the moon about Jet Set Radio or Jet Grind Radio having a possible remake, I would much rather have Jet Set Radio Future as a remake, remaster, or just ported to modern consoles. Jet Set Radio already has a remastered port on current consoles, while Jet Set Radio Future is still stuck on the Xbox. It’s probably also my bias speaking because it was one of the first games I can remember playing as a kid as it came with my Xbox, alongside Sega GT 2002 on the same disc.
Future would need a complete remake as it was pretty much co made with another company tht has copyright on all the music etc
Praying Sega gives us remakes of Yakuza Kenzan and Black Panther 1 and 2 some day

I just want a full 3D remake of Phantasy Star 1. The original Phantasy Star quadrilogy are some of the best RPGs and they have never gotten any love. It would be cool to see them take those games and breathe some new life into them with a bigger budget and some expanded story and character development would be awesome

The days of borrowing games were fun, and dangerous, and a damn weird time but they are missed. I remember lending SNES games and forgetting about them till I’d go over to my friends house and seeing it. A friend of mine saw took my red dead redemption and Batman on 360 and I never got it back BUT he ended up being a manager at a GameStop years later and boy did he pay it forward. (thanks Mike). And the crown jewel had to be a coworker of mine borrowed my ps3 when metal gear first came out because he didn’t have a ps3 just to play through the game. I did get it back a week later. I feel those days are over. But if you did it everyone’s got a story

I had a 100% clear save with a run of 0:00 of the stupid timed dungeon on it too.
I never let anyone borrow a game after that unless they put down cold cash deposit on it with a signed agreement in case of damage.
I've only lent out three games since. But did have some theif steal most of my N64 and GameCube games about 3 years ago. They didn't get the boxes though. Just smashed a window in the middle of the night and grabbed what was in reach.

I got to where I don't let people borrow my games unless it's something I don't play anymore I have had to buy the same game because people be like oh I haven't even played it yet when they have had it a year
Buying SD cards from amazon is a risk even when you buy it directly from them. Gotten fakes constantly because they comingle their inventory with 3rd parties.
