Great video, I’m looking to pick one of these up myself and looking into the cleanup process, it doesn’t appear like you have to line the drip pan with aluminum foil, what is the cleanup like and how does this effect the cleanup process?
That’s a really nice smoker! That competition cart and the design is very cool too. Did you know the hat and hoodie you were wearing in the video are Made In China!?! That’s what I don’t understand sometimes…some of these companies like Yoder preach and brag about being Made in the USA, but then they outsource their apparel. I have a Yoder YS640S as well, but it grinds my gears when I saw their apparel is all Made in China when they could have easily contracted an American apparel company and had all their apparel Made in the USA along with their grills. With that said, I commend you for making the switch from all those free Traeger pellet smokers. Have fun piddlin’…smoke on.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I am aware...like I said in my other video, one shovel at a time. We (or the US Govt) has made it almost impossible for Americans to get 100% away from it, but do the best you can. I'm sure what you viewed the video and typed the message with were made in China as well. Same with mine. Just doing the best I can to fix it. As far as the "free Pellet Smokers", in over 4 years I got 2 smokers from Traeger, and they weren't "free". These videos just don't film, edit, and publish themselves. I know what you meant, but there is a lot more work to this than people realize.
@@JusPiddlinBBQ, yes, for sure. It’s almost impossible to go full American Made…I watched the video on my Samsung tv which is made in South Korea (which is better than China because they are our allies, and typed up my comment on my iPhone 14 Pro Max which of course is Made in China). I’m sure the videos are a lot of work and you do a great job. I just wish american companies like Yoder who have flagship products Made in USA had their apparel accessories (which are overpriced) Made in USA as well. Keep piddlin’ brother!
Just a quick suggestion from personal experience with a YS640. Rub the outside of the grill and cart with a very light light coat of oil. If you do that you’ll never have an issue with rust as many comment. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I. They are beautiful
Drank the Kool-Aid this past fall and bought a Traeger Timberline 850....On my second cook (Hamburgers) I found out the drip tray arrived warped and the grease ran to the back left of the grill and caught fire. Also its my fault (per Traeger) that my wifi does not work even though a cheap printer I bought works on my wifi. Since then I have purchased a CookShack PG500 and also have my eyes on a PS 1250.
Your video was the first one with the correct information on seasoning and burn in.. Thanks for that! By the way our Government has sold and pillaged our future away. I always look for ways to buy American Made..
My YS640 S... Thanks for sharing your season your grill...
Appreciate the tutorial! Just finished putting my YS640 together and am about to do the initial burn, going to season tomorrow!

Yea I'm gonna treat the outside the same way I treat my LSG Offset.
Check out ACF-50. It's what Yoder actually recommends you coat the outside with to keep it from rusting.
Indeed.
Do you see any reason I couldn’t use clarified bacon grease to season?

Same kool-aid? The Traeger is made in china?!?
Mine is on the way, expecting it to arrive saturday~ 07/01/23
Because of your videos I too am going AMERICAN MADE! Do you think a 30lb turkey whole or spatchcocked?
Yes I recommend spatchcocked.
