just an idea, its going to be good if you actually master both the vibratos, because arm is used primarily more for higher positions and notes, and you use arm vibrato for mostly slower vibrato, and if you use wrist vibrato, you use it for fast vibratos, that's a good skill to have, switch between wrist and arm vibrato
My teacher described it as being nervous or sad. She used many different examples while I was playing but the funniest one was probably 'You are sitting on your couch, a massive moth appears and you have a to play (insert piece). Your hand is how you feel." I remember trying not to bust out laughing while playing. It worked really well
hey corrie!! can you please do a tutorial on how to tune with fine tuners?? i only have lessons once a week and my violin gets out of tune when my teacher isn’t with me. i’ve too scared to use the pegs so can you help me learn how to tune with fine tuners please! 😊
Hey Corrie! Thanks for this video! It looks a lot easier than wrist vibrato 😅 Do you have any song suggestions for beginners that are actually fun and pretty to play?
@@ireneeugene-517 the easiest and more fun one will be something like cannon in D. Although it's super common it actually exposes the player to slurs, running notes and double stops (some versions only). It also sounds quite nice and graceful. I played this when I was 3 years old when I started learning :)
@@rebsoui Oh I didn't even think about that one! It is a really beautiful song... it reminds me of Memories by Maroon 5 XD Daaaaang you were 3 when you played it??? I'm impressed. Thank you for the suggestion!
I have a question regarding vibrato. How do you keep control of your bow without it bouncing around. Ex: long slow bow strokes with intense vibrato (romantic vibrato). I don’t grip the violin and have decent vibrato for short bow strokes. Should my violin shake at all when doing vibrato? Maybe just a little shaking? I’ve watched lots of violinist who have slight shaking in their violin but the bow movement seems so smooth.
Oh my gosh I struggled with this too when learning vibrato! Try placing your violin scroll (carefully) up against a wall to isolate your finger movement. And don't use the bow to play until you're ready.
@@Corrietheviolinist Thank you! I’ll definitely try it out. Do you think you can make a video on it also? I’m sure many of us struggle with it as well. Again thanks for the help! :)
Oo, I will definitely have to try this! So... quick question, do you have any knowledge about what to do when your pinky finger does not curl? Like, in my case of genetics, when I press my forth finger on the fingerboard, the first knuckle on my finger goes strait and I'm left with no vibrato 😅. Any tips would be nice, but if you have no idea, neither do I! 😝
When i was a few months into playing violin I would always use arm vibrato. My violin teacher told be to not do that and use wrist or finger vibrato. Which one is better?
If you have any violin questions, ask on my latest practice video and I will answer them in the next day’s video! 🙌♥️
Me practicing the arm thing in the air even though I have never owned a violin and probably won’t for a while
First thing that you're gonna need is not a shoulder rest, but a violin.
do you have it now?
That one mosquito in my room in the middle of the night :
THIS👏IS👏SO👏HELPFUL👏
i have never felt that arm vibrato is so easy to learn 🎉🎉
I thought I was almost doing wrist vibrato and I was so proud then I realized I was doing more of this instead 😭😭😭
It’s okay! Everyone has a personal preference and yours might be arm vibrato!

This is a perfect lesson. So perfect an explanation of the technique and how to adopt the technique. You are good at this.
Thank you! :)
I’m still a beginner, and not ready to learn this yet, but it doesn’t hurt to start out omitting bad habits!

Love this!
1st of all...such a georgous girl..God bless..2nd Thxx for the tip
Thank you so much! I'm learning vibrato and this is so much help!

Talented AND Cute. What more does a young lady need?
Hey Corrie! Thanks for this video! It looks a lot easier than wrist vibrato 😅 Do you have any song suggestions for beginners that are actually fun and pretty to play?
Sooo many suggestions! Haha are you looking for something classical or more on the pop side?
@@Corrietheviolinist hmm... probably more classical. I know the keys G, D, and A major. Thanks so much! 😊

good way to get a upper arm cramp, very cool!
lol
Do you have to press down on the string to the plastice
This type ofvibrato is the easiest one for me at least
Does your forefinger touch the wood when you do vibrato?
hopefully i will be able to do this kind of vibrato
OK now I have to try this on the electric base
Can you do arm vibrato without using shoulder rest? Thank you.
Yes, but if you're still learning violin, I'd highly recommend using your shoulder rest. It will help so so much as you learn new skills.
Grazie.
I'm pushing my violin into my neck lol 😂
If it helps, try placing the scroll of your violin on a wall to steady it and help focus on your hand.
@@Corrietheviolinistthank you!
this is so hard to do im finding it so difficult and I've hyper mobile joints so I shud find it easy but more practice I guess thanks for the video
Do you know chanel Nika Kost?
How can I do vibrato without a shoulder rest..? Is it possible...
I'm a beginner
It's possible. But as a beginner, I wouldn't recommend it.
Oo, I will definitely have to try this!

Which direction is the rotation?
It looks easier. Thank u
I still think wrist vibrato is actually easier, but sometimes arm vibrato can be simpler to get a hang of.
❤❤❤
Well i can do it now but can't sustain it much
How to go forward??
Vibrato is easy but cant seem to do it without shaking the violin violently 😅
then it is not easy
When you start to vibrato, are you holding the violin up with your arm or your head?
Great question! Shoulder and chin! Arm should literally be able to drop and your violin wouldn’t go anywhere.
Oh nice
Good 👍
you play too much, and your violin is perfect 😍
U are a beauty 😊
I WANNA DO WRIST VIBRATO BUT IT ALWAYS ENDS WITH AN ARM VIBRATO!!!!😭😭😭😭
i learned it in 23 sec
thanks.
Yessss!
😍🎻🎶🎵
I don’t even have a violin but I still did the wrist movement thingy.
You are soooo beautiful 😍😍
Can you teach me violin?
why was the bow so close to the fingerboard
different playing positions :)
❤️♥️❤️
Wait, there is also a violin?
What violin is that
It's an Italian violin
Yasssss
Am I the only one who learned vibrato by moving your arm FORWARD and not backwards? Just wondering😂
Me as well- that way finger doesn’t completely flatten against fingerboard
Cantikk
I love your skills 🙂 now i know a bit
Please reply to my message.
I am a beginner violinist, can you help me?
How to play shape of my heart on violin
Hi, I've not heard of that song? Have you tried googling music to it?
When i was a few months into playing violin I would always use arm vibrato. My violin teacher told be to not do that and use wrist or finger vibrato. Which one is better?
Either way! They're both great. Whichever your teacher is teaching.
NEVER forget that shoulder rest should not be a permanent help
😂😂❤❤❤
mosquito
Imagine using a shoulder rest…
Imagine not having a shoulder
You're still moving your fingers and wrist so I don't see the difference. God, violin is so annoying
