    Henry® 887 Tropi-Cool® 100% Silicone White Roof Coating is a premium, 100% silicone, moisture cure coating designed to reflect the sun's heat and UV rays as well as protect many types of roofs. While suitable for use in all climates, the 100% silicone chemistry is especially suited for extreme tropical environments, which are exposed to some of the hottest and wettest weather with intense UV exposure. It is specially designed to maintain maximum reflectivity of heat and UV rays as it ages. Its moisture cure chemistry creates a very aggressive chemical bond with the roof, which provides permanent resistance to ponding water, extreme durability, and superior capabilities of sealing and protection.

    Imagine a company having a given (24 month) shelf life on their product, but will not tell you DOM or date of expiration. That is asinine, crazy, ludicrous. It kept me from purchasing 5 - 4.75 gallon pails. Thank God for Rustoleum 980, and Black Jack Eterna-Kote. I begged HENRY's customer service rep for help de-ciphering the date-code, after I had sent him clear phographs of the ones Home Depot had in stock. He simply ignored me. His name is MR. BENOIT

    This worked so good on my asphalt shingle roof in phoenix. I ended up using 7 5 gallon pails. My attic fan no longer runs at all now. My white shingles used to be 165 degrees. It now reads 105 degrees on a sunny afternoon. Saves me 50$ or more per month. My ac bill is now under 200$ a month in July and August. Thanks!!

    In this application, it appears it's not for waterproofing, but only for reflecting the sun. I'm looking for a long lasting waterproofing option for my roof without going to 20x50' rolls of EPDM rubber sheets.
    I currently have liquid EPDM over epoxy primer over roll roofing just like this video, but it failed after 3 years and the material is breaking down with micro cracks and is peeling and has cracked along seems, letting water in.
    Do you have a stronger solution that would last at least 20 years or more before starting to break down in northeast winter weather?

      @@dthorne4602 I'm now trying Tropicool on my roof. Problem is, there is still water bubbles forming every few months. I found a large bubble with a couple gallons of water in it, so I cut about 30 sq ft of the lifted material and re coated it with Tropicool at $138 for a gallon of the stuff. I'm hoping it doesn't leak again. It seems that all of these coatings are porous and let water in.

    • @dthorne4602
      @dthorne4602 Рік тому

      @@basspig no. Tropicool is 100% waterproof, but if you didn't apply it to a clean and dry, approved substrate, it will fail, also if you have a leak elsewhere that is allowing water into the roof structure, that moisture will find its way under the silicone. My guess is that your roof was wet internally already or has a leak elsewhere, this stuff can't leak - that's why you got a bubble rather than the water coming out through the material

    • @basspig
      @basspig Рік тому

      @@dthorne4602 The roof is flat with a 5° pitch and is composition roll roofing, on top of which is EPDM Coatings epoxy coating, over which is their EPDM liquid rubber. That developed pinholes, and I had to remove sections that bubbled, and so last year I did a full coat of Tropicool over everything. The following spring, I had a couple of areas that accumulated a LOT of water. I'm thinking the only possibility is that there were bubbles in the Tropicool as it cured, and parts of it were porous and let the snow melt work it's way in. There is no existing water inside the roof. Certainly not gallons of it like I found this spring.
      I am hoping there are no more of these instances. I need to put solar up there soon, as electric rates are set to double on Jan 1.

    • @dthorne4602
      @dthorne4602 Рік тому

      Sounds like a nasty project. roofing can take you to your limits. If this material is installed correctly, it isn't possible for water to go through it.If you can't figure out where the water is coming from, only corrugated metal roofing on top would be 100%, but at that low pitch you have to Install that perfectly too.

      Dude Start telling the truth here. The duro has a 10 year warranty And it's quite a bit less the other you're talking about not a little bit quite a bit it's more than double the price. You are probably selling it is why you're saying this stuff so you can sell the high price stuff. You can also recoat the duro. Read tis from google . Summary: roof coating systems last 10-20 years, but once they reach the end of their warranty, they can be recoated and a new warranty begins. The process can be repeated, making roof coating systems a renewable and sustainable roofing system

    Hello , my whole cement roof is 2,726.74 sq feet. It is very big. How many buckets of 4,75 gallons do I have to buy? Do I have to put it on standing blocks on the roof or only on the flat areas? Thank you.

      1.5 gals/100 sq ft as per the video. That’s 67 sq ft/gal. 2727 sq ft/67 is about 41 gallons. 41 gals/4.75 gal buckets = 8.63 buckets. I would buy 9 buckets.

      it can, but that would not be a good idea unless its just on a tree house or something. No warranty in that case. it needs a roof substrate underneath it to be legit.

    I read below that this should not be used on shingles. But my roof, similar to the one in video, looks like shingle material, but applied in rolls or sheets, I'm not sure. but why is it ok for this surface but not shingles?

    • @chito80246

      Shingles are mean to be installed on pitches over 3/12, you can use it for roll of tourched or self stick rolls with a pitch of 3/12 or less, it will work with two coats very well for at least 7 years if well applying of a 30 mill uniform coat.
