While I enjoyed the MUST-EAT roast chicken with my sister, she shared her 5 stereotypes about Singapore. Are those reality or myths?

That’s right, not able to take chewing gums is a BIG BIG issue to these foreigners, as if end of the world is coming. Guess they must be chewing the gums 24/7 365days non-stop in their own country.
@summerapple7062 some are even exaggerating, say littering in Spore will b caned
@@leeyokepeng2209 this is hear through the grapevine and magnified thousand time
@@leeyokepeng2209 I just watched an UA-cam video by a HongKonger telling her viewers that chewing gums in Spore will be caned. 🙄
Thank you Double K sister for sharing.
Respect is the keyword in Singapore.
Basically our government does many to maintain our multi racial communities.
I love and respect my fellow Singaporeans ❤️🔥🫡🇸🇬
It’s important to respect each other, especially those are different from us.
HTH 👍👍💚💚💛💛👍👍
I see, make sense
Proud to be Singaporean!
There is also Womens' Charter to protect the females
Aiiii…
Ofcourse the govt did consider carefully before banning of chewing gum. You can educate the local ppl from young but you cannot educate the tourists and foreigners.
Another video with my sister 😁 I also added English subtitles. Enjoy the video, and see if any impression you can echo with.
Is very common for many hkers to have many wrong perception about Singapore, lot of time they get their reference from the media and not really experiencing it themselves
Not only HK or SG, when we don’t know things or people well, we tend to build up our own impression on them, via media or circle groups
Tell your sis, last Dec & Jan we experience like 23 degree at some part of Spore
I had stayed in HK for several yrs. I was made to understand that as HK housing is small with many members living together, it is logical that they stay out late before going back home. And for this reason, businesses are opened late to cater to this demand.
That’s another perspective 👍🏻
@@MsKarmanIt's a fact not perspective. I had lived. and worked in HK for 15 years. How often do you invite your friends to your apartment? I think the answer is very clear.
About durians, my naughty friends smuggled some durians into the hotel room to eat...and soon after because of complaints from a guest of foul air in the corridor, the manager managed to trace the smell to the hotel room. My friends had to pay to clean the air in the room... yes durian smell is that strong
Singapore
....Wow...The K Sisters indeed very Vocal and Outspoken...Like al the comments LIVE on net...Good Job....The debate on issues on Singapore vs Hong Kong is something ever so popular in Hong Kong...Why Liddat (Singlish). Each Country carry No wrong.. Both countries have had difference in Culture, FB, Choices of food...a different life style,...oh, I love Hong Kong Cantonese Food... Quality Simply Marvelous and price so very reasonable....The love for each country generally based on the brings up in that particular...having spent years since born it is just naturally to adapt to the way of life on a New Country... Popular Countries like USA, CANADA, FRANCE and All..I have been there...I feel nothing interesting at ALL....at least Cantonese Cooked Food include dim sum , congee to name a few interest me in Hong Kong...What Singapore can Offer...Come by. One day and see for yourself.... hahaha..You will find lots of things interests every visitor once landed in CHANGI...👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍✅✅✅✅🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊🎊
Well said. The attractions in Jewel really leave good impression on tourists!!!

I also want to eat the roast chicken one day. Looks yummy 😋
You should!
We not Chinese society
You have two cute eye and voice.
All the best for your small and big success in your future.
Let's clarify some misconceptions - 1) employment pass and permanent resident in Singapore is not migration. You migrate only if u become another country's citizen and it is your choice. 2) Prostitution is legal in Singapore, so what kind of entertainment is not available in Singapore which is in HK? Bars, karaoke lounges, gaming centres (I saw lots of kids but not many adults) etc are all in Sg. As for food, it is more cosmo in Singapore than HK, I should know since most of my relatives live in HK and I travelled there since early 90s. 3) Education, the parents determine the amount of pressure their kids are subjected to, be it good marks, good schools or maximising their potentials, ie. English in primaries must be 95 and above!
In Singapore, as long as one not holding a pink IC is considered a foreigner, and that include PR too.
nice beaches not available in SG, way more hiking trails and watersports to choose from in HK compared to SG just an example off the top of my head.
Interesting chat topic. I enjoyed listening to you two sweet-looking sisters, and observing the food you ordered. And I love that you got your facts correct eg the chewing gum law 👍
As a Singaporean, here’s my little input,
- no country is perfect, including Singapore 🇸🇬
- like all countries, our own unique history, culture, native and immigrant residents -and large expat residents, our existential economic survival quintessentially influence and drive Singapore to become as we are. But nothing is static, we continue to learn and evolve.
- I think words that best describe Singapore: manicured, efficient, truly diverse, highly managed or regulated, frenetic work culture, peaceful, green, pragmatic, and practical. All these can be positive and negative.
Cheers!
Thanks for sharing your thought as a Singaporean. I’ll show my sister the true Singapore when she visits here soon.
@@MsKarman thank you for being so kind about Singapore. Let’s hope the Good in Singapore will always outdo the bad, the ugly that also exist.

Just for general awareness, there are much more night life options in Singapore than Hong Kong.
Just interested to know, what are some popular options that you recommend foreigners to try?
sorry to just add here:
For drinking and partying, can recommend foreigners to try Haji Lane, Zouk at Clark Quay, Marquee at MBS, Boat Quay, Robertson Quay or Holland Village. Like Hong Kong, there are also a few bars in SG that are featured in Asia's Top 50
For food, can try the Geylang area: dim sum, frog porridge, beef hor fun etc.
and lastly late night shopping or just wandering around aimlessly in mustafa centre in little india is probably one of singaporean's favourite late night activities. 😆
Thanks @theotherperson5243 . Others to add - China Place, Capital Square, Amoy Street, Telok Ayer Street, Tanjong Pagar, Roberson Walk, Prinsep Street, Joo Chiat area. And new places keep popping up. Different places have different character and types of crowds. Those at CBD mostly Monday - Saturday. Except Lau Pa Sat. Others One Fullerton. Jalan Besar/King’s George Road. Changi village. Haji Lane. Club Street.
@@theotherperson5243 doubt the food you recommended will interest them after all she did mentioned in her HK radio interview that Singapore food are very salty and do not suit their tastebud
Been to HK 5 times, not a lot I know, for shopping and the delicious food. But in terms of nightlife, I am genuinely curious, besides Lan Kwai Fong, what are other popular drinking options in HK? Specifically, are there any international superclubs in HK?

Singapore 🇸🇬 has Every able bodied Male of 18 years to Serve the SAF Military Compulsory under Enlistment Acts for 6 months Basic training, 2 years NS and 10 years Reservist Trainings in camp.
There are Women in the Military, Police 🚔 etc too as careers too.

actually a lot of things to do, besides shopping and the typical city things, there're lots of hiking trails, beaches, water sports, you can even do paragliding if you know where to, way more choices than SG for sure.
On the multi-cultural aspect, that is what makes Singapore unique. Many of the food are only found in Singapore and maybe Malaysia as all the creative cooks of each race will mix ingredients and cooking methods from other cultures and create new dishes, new street food. So if there are 10 recipes from each culture, 4 cultures mixed up can create 1000+ recipes.
In HK, the local cuisine is Cantonese based, not so much of Cantonese + other cultures. In a way, we can also say it is "boring".
In Singapore, there are public holidays, events and festivals for all the race and religion. You can celebrate your own festivals and call it "boring", or you can celebrate all the festivals with colleagues and friends from other race/religion and learn new and interesting traditions.
Both Singapore and Hong Kong are cosmopolitan cities, if we are open-minded, there is no such thing as boring or un-interesting.
Well said 🤩 the mindset is important, affecting how to perceive things
I have an interesting observation... Hong Kong people also uses spoon and fork to eat? I wonder where that came from. I always thought it was a S.E. Asia thing. It's probably somewhat related to our histories as British colonies, but even in UK and the western world, most would still just use only the fork to pick up food, even rice... (this has been my pet peeve/culture shock when dining with westerners) I think we all commonly come to realize the utility of the spoon/fork combination and evolved even beyond the British/West... :)
Interesting observation! Like in cha chaan teng, we’re used to get forks and spoons from the staff, except using chopsticks for noodles. I guess it’s a mixture of Chinese and western thing, i.e. use spoons for rice & soup or forks for meat/ veggies. Cha chaan teng serves both Chinese and western food (e.g. spaghetti, steak, fries), maybe also because of our history as British colony.

That’s Singapore local school system. It has been like that since 1960s. No one grumble about it. School start promptly at 7.30am. You don’t need Science to explain it. It is take it or leave it. If you are not Singaporean, you can send your kids to International school and maybe they start late. I went through this system and my kids went through it too. Indeed a few generation of Singaporean has gone through this school timing and no one complained about it. My kids in their primary school days got to wake up as early as 5.30am to shower, took breakfast and catch the school bus at 6.15am daily from primary 1 right up to Secondary school.
It's also to facilitate those bus drivers who have to fetch workers to work place eg office (esp for workers in jurong) If students start school same timing as office workers, there will b shortage of bus drivers
@@summerapple7062 I feel like this is a very typical SG thing, that when someone complains about one thing, your 'collective mentality' just jumps out and screams, 'no one has a problem with it!', I mean, you can't represent everyone! You can only represent and speak for yourself.
@@JL_hahaha0303 you can write in to MOE if you have an issue with the timing of the school operating hours
Karina is right... Educate people, no need to use laws to enforce.
What does that shows about SG citizens?
So how did your country educate your people?
What does that show? Laws are abided and its people are also educated at same time. Isn't that why your country is in shambles since the laws are just there for show and basically useless? Lol! 🤣
Laws help us to keep the society in order, esp protection of females
Malaysian don’t need law, everything under table can lah!
