I agree with you. Emma and Snow need to listen to Belle, Gideon does have good in him and I'm sure if Emma helps him, he's not going to kill her. We all know how this ends anyway, Emma lives and Gideon turns good. It's usually what happens every once upon a time plot. I don't seem the harm of helping him do what he needs to do, it'll save them all.

Emma has no obligation to help Gideon if he wants to be redeemed he can do it himself or have his parents help him. Since he showed up in town Gideon has tried to kill Emma, emotionally manipulated her to get her tears and separated her from her true love he has done nothing to show he should be trusted or is worth being redeemed which Killian did and so did Regina to a lesser extent.

I am sure if baby Neal had been kidnapped, they would have done everything to redeem him even if he wanted to be evil, murdered Hook and all the fairies, and wanted to kill Henry! They didn't care in season 2 when she lost her memory of the Enchanted Forrest, they didn't care when she was under the sleeping curse, Henry even tries to destroy magic and that would lock her asleep in a box forever. And now they don't even consider to help Gideon, they just assume he is evil and want to kill him. I never see them being so hard on a villain. Zelena helps Belle more than the heroes. For heroes, I think they focus to much about their own family and don't care about the rest of the world.

Yes, Gideon is probably the "nicer" villain of OUAT show. He's not really a villain, he's just very confused. But Emma and Snow show less compassion for him than they do for other villains like the Snow Queen, who tries to kill the whole town!
I think I can see both sides. For one, Emma is right and I can't blame her. Gideon is a very real threat and she needs to stop him. He's tried to kill her and is threatening her loved ones. He has to be stopped. And she was sympathetic with Belle but she can't just let him go because she's friends with his mother. I also get why Belle would find it difficult to come go terms with, especially since she believes everyone can be redeemed through the power of love
