John usually rocks the 60's fender stratocasters. If you are looking for a strat substitute that dosnt cost an arm an a leg grab a squier strat, still fender, still sounds exactly the same.

To everyone debating about this awesome solo i think its much more comparable to all along the watchtower, the Jimi Hendrix version of course, because of the chord progression and flea's bass line.
@d4nl31 I think he uses an American Big Muff. And in the end of the solo, he uses the Big Muff with his Wah-Wah

The Foo Fighters found unbelievable success with "Wasting Light" after their early guitarist Pat Smear rejoined and they kept all their members too. I feel a similar thing might happen if John Frusciante rejoins the RHCP, keeping Josh, that could bring a similar result. Then again they'd need a darn good production team a-la F.F. RHCP are as eternal as time.
