Hey quick question: Is there an advantage/disadvantage to adjusting exposure with CLOG displayed on the screen .....or turn the LOG view assist on THEN adjust exposure? Great videos! Thank you.
I haven't used the CLOG assist. I rely mostly on the histogram to make sure I'm not losing my highlights. For the most part, that gets me a great exposure with lots of flexibility in post.
You mentioned in the title the R6 did not overheat, but didn't explain thoroughly. Any thoughts? You did not sound convinced of buying the R6, why? I don't know, initially I felt in love with this camera but after some reviews, started looking elsewhere. Thanks!
It didn't overheat, not much else to say on that. I didn't have any issues. 🤷♂️ I'm not convinced on this camera. It just seems to be a middle ground between the R and the R5. For me, there are not enough new features on it that I want to spend money on it. I'll save a little more and get the R5. Don't get me wrong, the R6 is a good camera. It's just not the one for me.
Can't assign video modes to C1,C2 and C3...... The record button on photo modes doesn't allow to change any aperture,shutter or iso....... And i paid 2500$ for this cam Phew....!! And my C-log shows 10 bit 420 instead of 422 in premiere pro properties
Hey man, I have a few questions about the R6 that I was hoping you could answer for me. 1. Does crop video mode have horrible rolling shutter like on the EOS R? 2. Can you film in 4K 24p in crop mode? (Website doesn’t say) 3. Is 4K 24p 5k down sample? I know on the site it say 4K 30 and 60 are but it doesn’t mention 4k24. Appreciate any help
Hey! Sorry it's taken me a week to get back to you. 1. Probably. I tested rolling shutter for someone else and noticed zero difference. 2. I don't see why not, I can do it on the R5. ( I don't have the R6 in my possession anymore) 3. I don't know. It is clearer than the 4K crop on the EOS R, so maybe. I hope that helps, even if just a little. 👍
I’m interested in the R6 for video. The lack of All-I is a stumbling point for me for cinematic style shooting (can’t justify the C70 at this stage and it’s not FF). I like FF for low light and for getting proper wide angle framing. With the overheating issues, I’m not sure All-I is that practical, as I presume this processing would exacerbate heat issues. I understand the back of the R6 is plastic, not metal like the R5, so Canon couldn’t use the metal as a passive heat sink. Hmmm.
@@rynfilms Thanks for your comment. Yes, if I was just venturing into video, it would be a compelling camera to consider. It’s a shame Canon don’t have an A7Siii equivalent which I will get instead I think, as I want something a bit more advanced now (I have an A7Sii as well as a 5D4, so I have e-mount and EF glass). I think Canon like to be proactive rather than reactive company, so I don’t think it’s in there DNA to make equivalent cameras of their competition which is more the pity. So no step up from the 5D4 for me at this stage. All the best.😃
Hi Billy, I color grade all my footage to each shoot. No premade Canon LUTs. I'll be doing a free download on an upcoming video for some of the LUTs I've created for my Canon cameras.
R6... The missing of the top lcd screen is a deal breaker. How can they sell a 2700€ professional camera without a top screen. That is all i look at for 90% of the cases. It looks like a rebel Ti.

Yea the Ibis is good but I will still need a gimbal. Realy good for night time photography. The AF in low light is also mindblowing.
I wish I had more time to test this in low light. 🤷♂️

If you're referring to HDR PQ, It doesn't appear to have much file size difference.
It also looks like HDR PQ it is available in both 4K and 1080.

I'll be digging more into that when I test out the R5.

It can be a tough call. I think if I was starting with no camera I would consider this a little harder. Good luck!
