I just love seeing content about tv tropes, they're good for research and also to see possible improvements on the audience and society. And this one is a MUST to be discussed, so again, thank you! I agree with everything you said. Some people "excuse" this issue saying that creating an strong and lovable lgbt couple and killing it off after a grown relationship actually helps people to empathize with the colective and therebefore feel it in a more personal and positive way. And that's true, parcially. I mean, I can't be mad at Btvs because I think Tara's death wasn't that unnecessary. Sure, they could have made it different and let them live happily ever after, but they showed us 3 seasons of love, respect and supportiveness. And her dead was important so that Willow could go into her darker phase and grow up as a character. But as you said, when you keep seeing lgbt characters die, it just loses the impact it previously had. So instead of being a sad surprise, it just becomes extremely annoying. To the point people are cautelous with getting too attached with one of these couples cause their future is so predictable (long before anything has yet happened between them). So yeah, the "shocking" twist to create, would be giving one of those an actual happy ending, for a change xD

Hi You made my day! This video was amazing. Emily is my favorite character from PLL and I never understood why none of her relationships lasted. Nora and Mary Louise were, in my opinion, the best couple on the Vampire Diaries. When they were killed off, I was already sick of Delena and Steroline. I could not care less what happened to the other characters, except Bonnie. Best wishes from London!

Personally, I think that LGBT characters deserve better than that, they should have been allowed to survive in a lot of occasions and giving them the opportunity to get a happy ending or even having the Chance of getting much more than happy ending and even ascend Godhood, if the genre is correct. however, I do take percussions with the problem at hand and go to the other direction too much...LGBT Characters SHOULD be allowed to die, but ONLY if their death has: 1. Meaning in the story 2. is not because you hate their sexual preference unless the villain is homophobic and serves to show us he is bad. 3 don't overdue the killing and 4. As a consequence or expression of conflict, if they die because they did a mistake like Annika and Veha in the Dragon prince for trusting Viren or trying to save their Kingdom, it's ok, but not like how Voltron did it.
    Either way, great video.

Didn't PLL technically give Emily her happy ever after with Alison? I say technically because I didn't really buy it, but on the surface they "lived happily ever after"
(although I haven't watched the spin off which could have changed everything)

I´m a gay woman in a wheelchair. It´s a good thing to see the LGBTplus community getting represented in today's tv shows but unfortunately, the same thing doesn´t apply for those with disabilities. If there is a recurring character he/ she gets killed off after a view episodes.

very true! I should make a video about how people with disabilities are (mis)represented! thank you for all your feedback

Ive seen a video that spoke about the casual lesbophobia (which i would say also biphobia) in SKAM, id like to see you talking about it, i guess that would complement perfectly the previous video you spoke about the toxic elements in skam
