I absolutely agree with the point you made re: female sexuality getting ridiculed by the media. I'm really sick of seeing women kissing/being sexual with each other just for the male gaze, to the point where I never know if a character is really gay/bi or if they're doing it to impress a man. Ugh.
Comunque brava Giuly, video molto interessante come al solito!
Grazie, Vale! :D
am finding this two years late, but: brilliant! every time two girls kissed in skam it was for...chris's benefit, and everytime bi or lesbian female sexuality was mentioned, it was as a joke. im glad the remakes at least started to take different routes
I’m currently watching the skam remakes their are females who are in the LGBTQ community , unlike the original skam.
For example skam Germany Mia(Noora) is bisexual. Skam France Chris is bisexual. Skam NL Chris was shown kissing a girl.
Skam Spain season 2 is about Chris I think it's gonna be about her bisexuality I'm not sure though.
Actually, skam Austin has changed a Isak gender so in season 3 its not gonna be a gay storyline but a lesbian storyline.
I think in a way the skam remakes are fixing the original skam flaws. in adding LGBTQ woman and making the relationship between Noora and William less problematic like they did in skam Germany.
Omygod mia is bi?!? Whomstve?
@@blackclothesblackcat8873 yeah, I think she mentioned something like that.
You were right about Cris being bi 😉 she got the Isak storyline after all
Your channel is so amazing, I love how you analyse things and listening to your voice is so pleasant as well. I wish you had more subscribers, you definitely deserve it!
Thank you so much! These kind of comments make up for any lack of subscribers count :)
In the trailer of Skam Eva is talking about her friendship with Ingrid and Sara and she say "sometimes at parties we make out with each others"
I agree. This is my main problem with the show. I'm not upset they didn't have a lesbian or bi female character in the show but I wish they wouldn't have shown them in the way that they did.
This is SO needed. Thank you. I think that's actually the only thing about Skam that really pissed me off. The show gave up so many oportunities with Eva, Vilde and even Noora. In fact, they all ended up being with toxic relationships and losing theirselves way more even than if they'd have chose another path. But it seems like they only toyed us with little hints and scenes so the lgbtq community as well as heterosexual males could be equally pleased. I hate the way tvshows refuse to explore the matter because 'we already have a gay character' or 'we already have one black character in the series' as if life (and more specifically teenagers exploring their sexuallity) could be this limited. No, there're always millions of options to make it more realistic and relatable, one character will never be the same as another because there are infinite ways of portralling personalities. That's reallity. And that's what people needs to see and feel at the end, the amount of shades of gray instead of the usual black and white they constantly try to sell us.
I love this video. Thank you so much for this analysis, it's the best explanation for this particular issue with SKAM that *many* people try to deny.
This was such a great addition to the conversation! You presented the most important parts of the show and went quite in depth into Vilde’s personality! Love it
I requested this while ago and hadn’t realized you made this! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video.
Your analysis videos are so addictive! Please make more of them! You have such a talent for explaining "difficult/abstract concepts" in an easy and entertaining way ❤️
This video is great. U really explained alot of things we didn't even notice. Thanks!
Amazing video ! I like to think Julie would have given Vilde a healthy lesbian or bi-sexual relationship if the series progressed.
Best analysis of Vilde I’ve seen so far, great job!
Interesting video as always. I loved this analysis and I agree with every word
Great video!!
Very interesting video! I agree with your points, we were robbed of what could have been a cute love story!
Thank you so much!💕
Hey. I like it. I never thought in this way. Good point.
Amazing video as always Giulia 💕💕💕
i've always felt like skam really fucked it up with the representation of lesbian relationships, i'm glad the remakes are doing a better job though.
Molte grazie!
I recommend you to check Skam España. I think they address better all this stuff
Hey I know this is out of the ordinary but can you do a video essay on Lizzie saltzman from legacies she the daughter of Alaric from the vampire diaries which this show is a spin-off to the vampire diaries and the originals. Also great analysis
I’m not watching Legacies, sorry!
Seriesable well thanks for the response love this analysis by the way
If you’ll have any other request in the future I’ll give u priority ;)
Yeeess all of this!!!!!!
I'm sooo glad I skipped SKAM's second season. It really looks awful. I can't understand how did they manage to make such a good third season after it.
Respect you video. But you kinda proved the point of Skam, its showing exactly the norms women in today's society live up to and dont even know.
Skam had like four seasons. How could they possibly fit the whole rainbow in it? Forced representation isn't all that progressive either
This vlog was meant as satire. However, many in the comments are really taking the vlog's creator remarks seriously.
Look, there is no lesbian representation in the original Skam because the creator wasn't inspired to create them She didn't do anything wrong by not including characters who were lesbian in her dramatic series. She is straight and cannot conceive of women in a romantic/erotic way. Because she's sexually attracted to men, she was inspired to create gay male characters. Many of
the straight young women the world over alao share her appreciatnon of gay male couples. A romantic pair where they could be equally attracted to, and identify with their sexual attraction to males.
how can a straight woman write gay male characters, but she can’t write ONE lesbian? ironic. she doesn’t know the gay male struggle, just like she doesn’t know lesbian struggle
It's been like two years since your comment and from my perspective as a teenager in this generation (a teenager who said "oh, I'm going to watch skam because it seems like it was something nostalgic for teenagers from that time in 2015 and everything related to it") I can't say anything other than that it is poorly represented. I haven't seen the third season but it's like, man, Noora was such a new era girl that she would have all her development taken away for a MAN (I suffered through it), like why would you do that for a bastard like William, she was a lot for him and on top of that the story seems very stereotyped, it falls into errors or outdated thoughts or sexist thoughts (said by women) and that they are so normalized. I can say that Norwegian skam is not really good to see these days, maybe at that time it was the most open and so on but no. By the way, your comment about a straight woman being able to write to two gay men is so sexualized. You literally confirm that many heterosexual women write gay stories to fulfill their fantasies or to sexualize them because they would not even understand the struggle they suffer. On the other hand, as a woman she only shows her lesbiphobia or something like that, because what would gender have to do with it? If it can make two gay men so much, it can also make two gay women.
Well....This was awesome but the fact that makeup and dresses are feminine is kind of stereotyping
