I agree with your take on this, Kate and Sawyer were deeply ingrained into the mythology of LOST, all their centrics showed how connected they were, even after a separation of three years, they still loved each other, and that never wavered. All Jaters and Sulieters have is a make-believe phony meet-up in heaven. Skate got the real deal. A real life together off the island.
I love your grasp on EXACTLY what went down with the love triangle on Lost and the terrible way it was "resolved". Like you, I more or less do not like pairings that are given the "Soulmate-Destiny" trope. They feel forced & artificial. I'd rather my pairing develop organically and have a more grounded connection. To this day, I still don't know what the connection was between Jack & Kate or Sawyer & Juliet? To me, they were not the kind of "opposites attract" pairing that I like. I do prefer "Kindreds Attract"....Barney/Robin, Sawyer/Kate, Jim/Pam, Chuck/Blair etc. Jack & Kate (and Suliet) were, what I consider to be "awkwardly mismatched" rather than opposites. Jackie & Hyde....THAT'S how you do an OA pairing! I couldn't agree more that the "creatives" need to change course when they see that an obstacle couple they created for "conflict" is actually a better fit than their originally planned endgame couple. Skate, like PJ, had that magical dynamic....chemistry, connection, and the ability to challenge and change each other. Sawyer changed b/c of Kate, not Juliet! Juliet only domesticated him and that's not the same thing. Kate's choice in S3 should have been final and Jate should have been dropped. Keeping the triangle going proved to be disastrous, ruined Kate's character & was an incoherent mess. Jack & Kate and Sawyer & Juliet were only together because Sawyer was removed from Kate's world and Kate was removed from Sawyer's. Jack & Kate made each other miserable and Sawyer & Juliet had no substance whatsoever! I recently read where Darlton talks about the whole process of deciding to put Suliet together in the first place. They already knew they were going to kill Juliet off before they even put them together! They said they had "no more story to tell when it came to Juliet's character". She was never meant to come back to be Sawyer's endgame soulmate! That changed because a percentage of the audience "fell" for Suliet (mostly because of the "Kate-Hate") If they were seriously trying to "rectangle out the triangle" than why was Kate jealous, Sawyer torn & Juliet insecure? That's sending very mixed messages to the audience, especially at a time when you're also revealing that Kate kept Aaron to help fix her broken heart over Sawyer jumping from the chopper!
People claim Kate's "actions" proved she didn't love Sawyer, while they ignore the fact that Kate literally couldn't care less about Jack when he was on drugs & suicidal! Her only priority at that point was Aaron. She chose Aaron over Jack and she even "flashed" to Aaron's birth in the "limbo". As far as Sawyer goes, his whole life with Juliet was based on a lie. A false identity in which he cons her into staying on the island for his own selfish reason of not wanting to be alone. He loved her but was not "in love" with her. Kate essentially does the same off-island with Jack....3 years of lying about what happened on the island and about being Aaron mother, not too mention lying to Jack about what she's doing for Sawyer. She straight up refused to tell him even if it meant him walking out the door! I could go on forever but I know you already "get it" lol I would love to hear your "take" on Brooke/Lucas, as they're one of my faves also :)

Kate and sawyer are my faviorate couple in tv history. They had an out of this world relationship and the best chemistry i have ever seen
same! I'm so glad im not the only one haha. I love going back and rewatching old clips of them.
I love this video and I agree with you on almost everything you said. I watched the show when it originally aired, and to be honest I started watching it because I loved Matthew Fox in 'Party of five', but the character of Jack didn't do it for me. I was instantly drawn to Sawyer instead. Anyways, after watching the show over and over again (yes, even the horrible ending) I came to the conclusion that the 'sideways'-world of S6 was just a place where they could find each other, but in my opinion they weren't 'awakened' by their soulmate, but rather by something they regretted (for a lack of a better term). Sawyer, Miles, Kate and Claire made it all off the island at the end, and in this sideways-world they found each other again,, were drawn to each other even. Miles and Sawyer working together, Kate and Sawyer meeting over and over again, and obviously Kate ending up being the one to take Claire to the hospital and later delivering Aaron, but I regress. My point is, I think they lived a long and happy life with each other and had no regrets or unfinished business with each other at the time of their death, hence why they didn't wake each other up every time they interacted. Kate woke up through Aaron, who she truly loved and we can assume that she had regrets about taking him from Claire in the first place, then having to explain to the boy upon returning with Claire that she was in fact not his mother etc etc. Claire also woke up because of Aaron for the same reasons, but that doesn't make Charlie any less the person she loved. As you already mentioned, Sawyer regretted conning Juliet into staying, and she died because he didn't want to be alone. Jack did love Kate and had obviously some serious regrets about how he'd handled their relationship, but lets not forget that Kate isn't who 'woke' him, it was first his encounter with John, then Kate and at last touching his father's coffin that made him truly understand. Just to give more examples, let's look at Jin and Sun. They loved each other enough that he would rather die with her than leave her again, yet they didn't wake each other up either, but rather they were awakened by their baby they'd left behind without her parents, hence unfinished business/regret. I think you get my point. Anyways, my opinion, theory -whatever you wanna call it- is just how I managed to reconcile the horrible ending that was lost. And I get that my theory isn't foolproof, since Ben Linus doesn't wake up through his daughter, which I would assume would be his biggest regret, but who knows. I'm just saying that I don't think it matters much who they sit with in the church at the end, but rather the journey as a whole, and in that journey we see Sawyer and Kate drawn to each other from Season 1 all the way to the very end.

I belong to the people, who were shocked about the End and also that unbelievable relationship between Sawyer and Juliet. First to Kate: she is at the beginning a riddle for both men, she 's not the 'normal' girl, we mostly see in movies, etc. She was tough, clever, loyal, strong.independently, but also helpful, supporting, fighting , tender and vulnerable- a very empathic person. It was no wonder, that both men were attracted by her. ( who wouldn't love Evangeline, she is a brilliant actress and a natural beauty).
To Sawyer + Kate: both had a dark past, both also knock everey trick in the book, both had problems to trust easily other people. They had a lot of experiences how to survive in normal life. On the Island ,Sawyer is an outsider, selfish and arrogant. First he played with her and provocated her. But Kate shows him, that she was not easy to catch. On the other hand she was an empathic, helpful person, who was able to force him to help the community.She told him, that he behaves intentionally so unkind, that people hates him.( So Hurley does the same later). We see, that they understood another only by looking in the others eyes, they trusted another in a certain way, they changed their secrets together, their feelings grew . Kate touched him and it was obviously, that he fall in love with her. After he awoke in the station,rescued but wounded on his flight with Michael on the boat,he said to Jack: I love her. Kate was very busy helping him to get healthy. At this point she also realized, that she was in love with Sawyer, when she saw him half dead . Later Sawyer recognized, that Jack was also in love with her and watched them suspiciously and jealous.
To Jack +Kate: They both trusted another very early, although he knows, that she was a criminal. But he doesn't wanted to know why. He first took her as she was.Both were strong characters, being the leaders of the community. Both were helpful, engaged humans, interested to support the others and make the best in that situation.everybody could rely on them.They were a good team,but soon Jack started to patronize her and behaved himself like a father. She always was running and telling him, what's on and wanted to hear his opinion or which decision he would make.
The complete situation is hard enough and none of them had really time to react in a common way, cause I think, they were mostly overstrained through struggeling and the need to survive.It was not the best moment for a relationship.
You’re definitely right about their understanding of eachother and their deep connection! I love that about them. But I just see them more as companions.
I love kate but I felt like she used sawyer and never loved him. She only said she loved him to stop him being killed, in my opinion.
Kate also made sawyer sad and angry most of the time, juliet made him happy and helped him to grow as a person. He was a horrible individual in early seasons, he wouldn’t have ever grown into the great person he became with Kate. I don’t feel like that is him “changing” for juliet or like hiding who he is, he just grew positively. I felt like skate would have been dark together.
There were times when kate was only with sawyer just because she was jealous of jack and juliet. That’s why I don’t agree that they were bringing in jack/juliet to get skate together because even then, they were still showing how kate loved jack. I felt like sawyer should be with someone who doesn’t use him and actually wants to be with him.
I am a big lover of opposites attract bc I feel like opposites help eachother to see different ways and to grow. This is probably why I am such a big suliet lover and I do like jate too (just not as much). (I am also a big brucas and pacey/joey lover bc of this reason, I love how different they are. They are so different that they admire eachother. And Leyton are way too similar it’s gross)

I think there are just as many legitimate "reasons" why Kate chose Jack as well, which I think you could address as a counter argument for your claim. This debate reminds me of The Handmaid's Tale: Nick or Luke. Why does there even have to be an official pairing anyway? Obviously the show uses triangles for drama and conversation starters (like your video). Triangles also happen a lot in real life and there isn't necessarily a right or wrong answer, since very few things are black and white. 😊

My sarcasm was related to the fact that obviously other people may ship different couples, any shipper knows that. Shipping is subjective and it's not about being right or being wrong. Someone else here below has stated their ship as being Jack and Kate instead of Sawyer and Kate and we have respected each other without issues.
You are now trying to mask your comment by saying that I can't accept different opinions, but I have a feeling that you really don't understand what shipping is. FYI it's older than the debate between Nick or Luke in The Handmaid's Tale.
I thought Jack and Kate had a deeper bond. I understand why people like Kate + Sawyer, but Kate's attraction and devotion to Jack is quite palpable and believable. They connect in their inherent shared goodness and their huge capacity to love, protect and care for people. Once Kate left Jack behind with the others, I believe she realized Jack was the one she was in love with. The thrill and rush with Sawyer was over after the cages. Sawyer was the short-term and Jack was for the long-run. I think many of us have known each kind of relationship.
